Emotional Education in English Teaching in Vocational Colleges

English teaching in vocational colleges must manifest its essence and help students feel the spirit of the language. Looking from the humanism of language, we cannot abandon the humanity attribute of the language, study environment and the humanities concern. Therefore, we must pay more attention to students' emotion, conduct a series of humanities concern throughout the whole teaching process in vocational colleges.     

Xenozoonoses in xenotransplantation

Pig to human xenotransplantation is one of the possible ways to solve the problem of organ shortage, but the potential risk of xenozoonoses hinders the progress of xenotransplantation. Among pathogens that might cause xenozoonoses, porcine endogenous retrovirus (PERV) is undoubtedly the most noticeable. Current researches show that PERV exists in pigs' genomes and is able to express in multiple tissues and organs in pigs. Other experiments also show that PERV could successfully infect several human cell lines in vitro and could infect SCID mice through pig to mouse islet transplantation. The discussion and research on the risk of PERV is one of the hottest topics in current xenotransplantation, but the question of whether PERV will transmit to human through xenotransplantation has not been answered due to the lack of suitable animal models. More work should be done to evaluate the risk of xenozoonoses caused by PERV after pig to human xenotransplantation.

homophobia is an irrational fear, intolerance and hatred oflesbian, gay and bisexual people. Homophobia in school is ignorance. The majorityofschools are unwillingor unprepared todoanythingabout it. Noticeably, homophobia has profound effects on youngpeople with homosexuality or bisexualitynot onlyin health but alsoin education, which includes physical and verbal harassment, suicide, druguse, HIV/AIDSand academic problems. Therefore, it is time toact for schools tocreate a support environment for homosexuals.

Tailing wavetrain generation in precursor soliton generation in single-layer flow

A theory of tailing wavetrain generation in the precursor soliton generation in single-layer flow is presented in terms of Whitham s averaged method in the present paper. The group characters of the tailing wavetrain generation are represented by the evolution equations of roots of a cubic algebraic equation resulting from the fKdV equation in the single-layer flow without source term. Based on the evolution equations, the group velocity of the tailing wavetrain is found theoretically, furthermore a theoretical solution of the tailing wavetrain generation is found in terms of the evolution equations. To examine the theoretical results, a numerical calculation of fKdV equation in single-layer flow is carried out in the laboratory frame, at the same time a comparison is also done. The comparison between theoretical and numerical results shows they are in good agreement.

Advances in Arabidopsis research in China from 2006 to 2007

Arabidopsis thaliana, a model plant species, has a number of advantages over other plant species as an experimental organism due to many of its genetic and genomic features. The Chinese Arabidopsis community has made significant contributions to plant biology research in recent years[1,2]. In 2006, studies of plant biology in China received more attention than ever before, especially those pertaining to Arabidopsis research. Here we briefly summarize recent advances in Arabidopsis re-search in China.     

The Similarities of Heart in English and “心” in Chinese in the use of Metaphor

Metaphor is a figure of speech which is often used both in written and spoken forms. There are both similarities and differences in the metaphorical uses of "heart" in English and the uses of its correspondent "心" in Chinese. The same metaphorical uses of "heart" and "心" are discussed in this paper.     

Mercury pollution in Rana Chensinensis in Weisha River reach, in the upstream region of Songhua River

Twice a year continuous samples of Rana Chensinensis and sediments have been collected near gold mine in the upstream region of Songhua River from 2000 to 2002, for analyzing the total mercury （THg）, methylmercury （MeHg） concentration and correlation in sediments, muscles, livers of the frog. The study indicates that THg and MeHg concentrations in polluted samples near the gold mine are higher than those in unpolluted ones. THg and MeHg con- centrations are higher in autumn, in female, and in livers than those in spring, in male, in muscles respectively. The order of concentration degree in the frog organizations is as follows： liver〉muscle〉ovum〉Fallopian tube. MeHg is the main form of mercury （Hg） existing in autumn, while inorganic Hg is in spring. There is no distinct difference of CMeHg/CTHg between male and female, livers and muscles. The correlation between MeHg concentrations in the river sediments and in the frog＇s livers and muscles are significant, which is related to disorderly discharge of Hg.     

Advances and perspectives in catalytic oxidation of hydrocarbons in liquid phase

This review article summarizes recent advances in catalytic oxidation of hydrocarbons,especially presents two strategies for activation of C-H bonds or molecular oxygen.Based on our own research results,the applications of the two methods in the oxidation of cyclohexane,toluene and ethyl benzene,etc.are introduced,and the perspectives of the two methods are also discussed.     

Impoverishment of Soil Nutrients in Gully Erosion Areas in Yuanmou Basin

The impoverishment of soil nutrients of nine gully head areas in Yuanmou Basin is assessed through an integrated evaluation method established on the basis of Fuzzy mathematics and multivariate mathematical theory. Results show that soil erosion of gully erosion area in Yuanmou basin has resulted in severe impoverishment of soil nutrients. All gully head areas are at high leves of impoverishment except for one at middle. By probing into and analyzing the mechanism of impoverishment of soil nutrients, we find that soil erosion has led to impoverishment of soil nutrients in a way of compacting soil, heightening position of obstacle horizon, and reducing the content of organic matter, as well as the direct loss of nutrient elements. Finally, this paper points out that soil and water conservation arming at the prevention of soil erosion is the most effective way against impoverishment of soil nutrients in Yuanmou basin.
