Cyclic AMP binding proteins in saliva

Summary Cyclic adenosine 3,5-monophosphate (cyclic AMP)-binding proteins which have the characteristics of cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase (E.C. 2.7.1.37) regulatory subunits, have been identified in rat and human saliva. Concentration of these proteins was increased in rat saliva after stimulation with isoproterenol, suggesting that they were released during exocytosis. Cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase catalytic activity was not measurable in saliva of either species.     

Cyclic AMP concentration in the rat's preoptic region

Summary In rats adapted to a 1212 h light-dark (LD) schedule, cyclic AMP concentration in the preoptic region showed a L minimum and D maximum. Summary Cyclic AMP was determined during the development of the dipteraCeratitis capitata. The concentration of the nucleotide reaches a peak at apolysis with a sharp decline in the pharate adult stage. Cyclic AMP in neuroblastoma,ganglioneuroma and sympathetic ganglia

Summary Tissue content of cyclic AMP was as much as 10 times greater in ganglioneuroma than in neuroblastoma. This high cyclic AMP in ganglioneuroma was not significantly different from that of sympathetic ganglia.

Cyclic AMP is a likely mediator of ovulation in the tsetse fly

Summary Ovulation in tsetse flies is normally induced by mating, but virgins can be stimulated to ovulate with an injection of dibutyryl cyclic AMP, cholera toxin (a cyclic AMP generator), or aminophylline (a phosphodiesterase inhibitor). Thus, elevation of cyclic AMP is a likely link in the events leading to ovulation.We thank J. de Wilde and W.A. Foster for helpful comments. Cyclic AMP and cyclic GMP in rats paw edema by prostaglandins

Summary Experimental results indicate that rat's paw oedema development by PGs is inhibited by 35 AMP and increased by 35 GMP. This research confirms the opposite effect to that of cyclic nucleotides. The respective behaviour of 35 AMP and 35GMP in their primary oedema-induced activity is discussed.We gratefully acknowledge the technical assistence of Mr.Sauro Pellegrini.

Summary The present report describes the changes in cyclic AMP level which occur upon parasitization of red cells byPlasmodium berghei. Parasitized erythrocytes were separated from the non-parasitized population by percoll density-gradient centrifugation. An increase in the cyclic AMP content of both non-parasitized and parasitized erythrocytes of infected animals compared with that of uninfected animals was observed. The patterns of physiological response to isoproterenol in normal, parasitized and non-parasitized erythrocytes were identical.

Cyclic AMP of blood platelets: Accumulation in organelles storing 5-hydroxytryptamine and ATP

Zusammenfassung Die subzellulären Organellen, welche in Blutplättchen von Ratten und Meerschweinchen 5-Hydroxytryptamin und Adenosin-5-triphosphat speichern enthalten bis über 100 Mal mehr cyclisches Adenosin-5-monophosphat (cAMP) als die ganzen Plättchen und die übrigen subzellulären Fraktionen. Durch die Speicherung in subzellulären Organellen kommt es möglicherweise zu einer biologischen Inaktivivierung von cAMP in den Plättchen.     

Cyclic AMP accumulation in human fibroblast cultures: diabetics compared with normals

Isoproterenol-stimulated accumulation of adenosine 3',5'-monophosphate (cyclic AMP) in skin fibroblast cultures from type 2 diabetics was twice as high as in fibroblasts from control subjects.

Cyclic AMP: Its effect on an estrogen-sensitive antigen in organ cultures of the cervicovaginal epithelium from neonatal mice

Zusammenfassung Untersuchungen mit Immunelektronenmikroskopie haben erwiesen, dass cyclische AMP in vitro die Wirkung von Östradiol in vivo simuliert. Das zeigt sich in einer Vergrösserung der Menge antigenen Materials, dessen Bildung für das cervicovaginale Epithel spezifisch ist. Der mit Ferritin konjugierte Antigen-Antikörper-Komplex war an der Oberfläche der Zellen lokalisiert.
