Summary Follicles isolated from Alloxan-treated rabbits and incubated in vitro, accumulated more progesterone and testosterone than those from saline-treated rabbits. LH augmented the accumulation of these 2 steroids. By contrast, the estradiol response to LH stimulation by follicles from Alloxan-induced hyperglycemic rabbits was diminished when compared to follicles from saline-treated rabbits. Ovaries from hyperglycemic rabbits also appeared to have more cystic follicles.This work was supported by the Medical Research Council of Canada. The technical assistance of Misses P. Dimond and J. Summary The size of protein-metabolism in lympho-reticular organs (spleen and lymph-nodes) is examined by means of autoradiography. Mice, rats and rabbits were fed with S35-labelled thioamino-acids. The density of the silver grains in the autoradiographs allows a statement about the size of proteinmetabolism in relation to thioaminoacids. From this point of view the problem of the germinal centres and marginal zones of theMalpighian follicles, the «Basophileninseln» in the red pulp and the endothel of the splenic sinuses is discussed.  相似文献

Mammalian oocytes grow and undergo meiosis within ovarian follicles. Fully grown oocytes are arrested at the first meiotic prophase by a mural granulosa origin “arrester” until a surge of luteinizing hormone (LH) from the pituitary at the mid-cycle stimulates the immature oocyte to resume meiosis. Recent evidence indicates that natriuretic peptide precursor type C (NPPC) produced by mural granulosa cells stimulates the generation of cyclic guanosine 3′,5′-monophosphate (cGMP) by cumulus cell natriuretic peptide receptor 2 (NPR2), which diffuses into oocyte via gap junctions and inhibits oocyte phosphodiesterase 3A (PDE3A) activity and cyclic adenosine 3′,5′-monophosphate (cAMP) hydrolysis and maintains meiotic arrest with a high intraoocyte cAMP level. This cAMP is generated through the activity of the Gs G-protein by the G-protein-coupled receptor, GPR3 and GPR12, and adenylyl cyclases (ADCY) endogenous to the oocyte. Further studies suggest that endocrine hormones, such as follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), LH, 17β-estradiol (E2) and oocyte-derived paracrine factors (ODPFs), participate in oocyte meiosis possibly by the regulation of NPPC and/or NPR2. A detailed investigation of NPPC and NPR2 expression in follicle cells will elucidate the precise molecular mechanisms of gonadotropins, and control the arrest as well as resumption of meiosis.  相似文献

Summary A single injection of the hyperglycemic principle obtained from scorpion cephalothoracic ganglionic mass causes an elevation of glycemia in the scorpionH. fulvipes in which little glucose is involved (10.8%). With the crustacean hyperglycemic principle, the elevation of glycemia is initially almost exclusively contributed by glucose (glucose is 92% of total carbohydrate at 2 h post injection); 6 h after treatment, non-glucose carbohydrates appear to participate in the elevation of glycemia.Acknowledgments. Early ovarian folliculogenesis begins with the breakdown of germ cell clusters and formation of primordial follicles. Primordial follicles are the smallest ovarian follicle units continuously recruited to grow into primary and more advanced ovarian follicles. Genes expressed in the germ cells such as Figla, Nobox, Kit and Ntrk2, as well as genes expressed in the surrounding somatic cells such as Foxl2, Kitl and Ngf, play critical functions during early folliculogenesis. Transgenic mice continue to provide important insights into the genetic pathways that regulate early mammalian folliculogenesis. Genes critical in early folliculogenesis are important determinants of reproductive life span and represent candidate genes for human ovarian failure. Summary The anticomplementary activity of decomplemented rat serum was determined using a technique of inhibition of guinea-pig complement in a 50% hemolysis system. The anticomplementary activity of the serum varies inversely to the glycemic state of the rats, being highest in the serum from hypo, and lowest in that of hyperglycemic animals.  相似文献

Summary 7-Chloro-3-(4-methyl-1-piperazinyl)-4H-1,2,4-benzothiadiazine-1,1-dioxide (DU-717) is a new compound having sustained antihypertensive activity in a similar manner to that of hydrochlorothiazide. The porcine antral follicles, 3–6 mm in diameter, were dissected from the ovaries of mature pigs, and then granulosa and cumulus cells were isolated from each follicle. In atretic follicles, high activity of neutral Ca2+/Mg2+-dependent endonuclease and DNA ladder formation, estimated by electrophoresis, were noted in granulosa cells but not in cumulus cells. Extremely low activity of the endonuclease and no DNA ladder formation were observed in both types of cells obtained from healthy follicles. Moreover, apoptotic cells were observed histochemically among granulosa cells only. A good correlation (r=0.987) between the endonuclease activity of granulosa cells and the progesterone/estradiol ratio of follicular fluid in each follicle was found. These results suggest that apoptosis occurs in granulosa cells but not cumulus cells in the atretic antral follicles in pigs.  相似文献

Summary The immunoreactive LH content of the pars tuberalis of neonatally androgenized female rats was studied and found to be significantly lower than that of control females at oestrus or of control males. It is concluded that the rat pars tuberalis does secrete LH and that this secretory activity is diminished by neonatal androgenization in a manner that differs from that reported for the LH secretion in the pars distalis.This investigation received financial support from Direccion de Investigacion, grants RMS-80-13 and S-80-26, Universidad Austral de Chile.  相似文献

Summary It was found that most feather follicles possess more than a single muscle system but only single nerve endings were observed in a feather follicle. It seems that muscles exist which antagonize each other. Anastomoses of nerves orginating from different sources and flowing of mixed nerves into the feather follicle could explain the antagonistic action of the muscles on the feather follicle.Partially supported by a grant from the Israel Egg and Poultry Board.  相似文献

The influence from carotid baroreceptors on portal immuno-reactive glucagon and insulin levels and on arterial plasma glucose concentration was studied in vagotomized cats by sectioning of the sinus nerves. Such a complete elimination of the afferent baroreceptor discharge caused a prompt and pronounced increase in the glucose and glucagon levels, whereas the insulin concentration significantly decreased. The role of vascular barorecptors in the hyperglycemic response to hemorrhage is discussed.  相似文献
