English teachers in China are aware that what kind of English teaching method should be employed to improve student's linguistic acquisition and that communicative competence becomes more and more important. In English teaching, teachers always make it possible for students to be more often in contacts with the English language, thus creating an atmosphere of learning English language. Help students to jump over the gap between only reading English loudly and speaking English fluently. PPP enjoys its popularity for its simplicity, straightforwardness and logic in some EFL classes. It also has its own problems: students may not be able to produce the target language naturally and willingly during its production stage. Besides, other factors, such as different educational experiences, ways of learning and backgrounds, may also cause invalidity in teaching. How can PPP be used in the author 's institution in the future? E - mail has been implemented in foreign language learning and teaching for many years. Learning English as a foreign language is a step-by-step process, during which Chinese students will inevitably make some errors. It is important for teachers to know when and how to correct students' errors. By employing error correction skillfully and appropriately, we can develop the students' self-confidence and self-esteem. This paper mainly discusses the interaction and collaboration learning in task-based learning, which has been proved to be scientific and effective, is advocated in English learning and teaching. In this article, inclusion and inclusive education are described. With more and more attention on human right that every child can learn and have the same right to access to education, special education has become a new focus of the population. Inclusion as a significant field in special education shows equality, a basic principle of special education. However, in process of special instruction, there are still some myths (such as teachers who work with students identified as special instruction needed must master the special skills and a detailed knowledge of the child's knowledge; teachers need unending patience in special instruction; and every child's learning is completely different) that should be dispelled. Recent years have seen a resurgence of interest in the role of grammar in English language teaching. Grammar teaching has become a preoccupation among more and more language researchers and teachers. This paper sets out to compare the views of grammar teaching in the Grammar-Translation, Audio-Lingual and Communicative Approaches from the following five points, the status of grammar teaching, the different methods in the instruction of grammar, the teacher’s role in grammar teaching, the characteristics of typical teaching activities in the three approaches with detailed examples and the effect of the three approaches to grammar teaching.It is concluded that grammar teaching should subscribe to an eclectic approach, that is, to take advantage of the strong points of each approach and avoid their weak points. Moreover, grammar teaching should be conducted according to the variables of learners and teaching circumstances.  相似文献

Two developments in the methodology of English teaching have been seen. One is the transition from ELT(English Language Teaching) to ESP(English for Special Purposes)teaching. The other is the transition from linguistic forms and syntactic structures to communicative activities. This essay discusses the classification of ESP/EST, argues for the purpose of ESP/EST teaching and GPE(General Purpose English)teaching. It is then suggested that the characteristics of objectives between ESP/EST and GPE should be differentiated. In the second part, the essay takes as its starting point two kinds of EST courses offered in institutions of higher learning in China. One has the nature of in-service language teaching. The other deals with the EST-majoring programme. The essay seeks to identify what are the main features of the EST-majoring programme, and stresses its practical nature of training and the concern with the learners' communicative competence.  相似文献

The modern teaching principles regard teaching process as the one of teacher-student communication,interaction and development. Some scholars therefore suggest that communication is the essence of teaching. Classroom communication is of great practical significance for education. However,a present empirical study shows that the current situation of teacher-student relations and communication in the EFL classroom is not satisfied enough. The teachers’communicative competence in the classroom needs to be improved. Based on factors that affect the teacher-student communication and the suggestion of the present empirical study,this paper suggests 5 ways to improve the classroom communicative competence of EFL teachers: 1) Teachers need to reconstruct and internalize the notion of modern educational communication; 2) Teachers need to apply appropriate teaching methods and teaching techniques; 3) Teachers need to well harmonize the relations between democracy and authority; 4) Teachers need to equally com-municate with all students and respect them; 5) Teachers need to create a communicative teaching environment. The paper reviewed what the literature has said about learning styles and multiple intelligences. By practicing a personal reflection on learning styles and muldple intelligences, the paper indicated that teachers need make paradigm shift respecting the fact that every student is gifted and can be taught with the same contents, approaches and assessment. It is very common to have a class of 50 or more students in Chinese schools, and teaching a foreign language effectively to a large class is really hard work. In order to change the teacher-centered teaching model into the student-centered one, Teachers should keep students' needs, interests, and learning styles in mind, apply several kinds of teaching techniques, organize different classroom activities and encourage, praise and appreciate both students' success and learning process all the time. If teachers place more responsibility in the hands of students, serve as "presenter or facilitator of knowledge" instead of "source of all knowledge", they can greatly motivate students to learn the language in a very active, cooperative and effective way. The existing textbook used in Intensive Reading class in English Department is not satisfactory according to an investi- gation made by the authors.Some investigations show:the texts are too easy,and monotonous both in content and style.
