Studies on the turn-over of plasma triglycerides using triglyceride14C-labelled chyle in pregnant rats

Zusammenfassung Die Umsatzrate der Plasmatriglyceride trächtiger Ratten beträgt 2,8 Mol/min/300 g Körpergewicht. Da die Umsatzrate nichtträchtiger Tiere kleiner ist, sprechen die Befunde gegen eine Störung des Abbaues der Plasmatriglyceride während der Gravidität.     

The effect of adrenalectomy on the norepinephrine and serotonin content of the brain and on reserpine action in rats

Zusammenfassung Sieben Tage nach Adrenalektomie ist der 5-HT-Gehalt des Rattengehirns vermindert, während der NA-Gehalt unverändert bleibt. Chronische Hydrocortisonbehandlung restituiert, DOCA-Behandlung bleibt wirkungslos. Nach 5-HTP-Behandlung steigt der 5-HT-Gehalt auch im Gehirn der adrenalektomierten Tiere.     

The calorigenic action of norepinephrine in rats after hypophysectomy

Zusammenfassung 2–4 h nach Hypophysektomie erhöht Noradrenalin den Sauerstoffverbrauch wie bei Kontrollratten, 7 Tage nach der Entfernung der Hypophyse ist jedoch diese Wirkung des Noradrenalin aufgehoben. Die CO₂-Abgabe verhält sich qualitativ wie der Sauerstoffverbrauch.     

Decrease of norepinephrine in brain and heart of vitamin E deficient rats

Zusammenfassung Viermonatiger Vitamin-E-Mangel bewirkt bei Ratten einen etwa 25 prozentigen Abfall des Noradrenalin-Gehaltes in Gehirn und Herz, der durchdl--Tokopherol rückgängig gemacht wird. Die Abnahme des Noradrenalins erfolgt ohne gleichzeitige Verminderung der Tyrosin-Hydroxylase- und Dopamin--Hydroxylase-Aktivität.

Summary Pure stimulation of carotid chemoreceptors induces, as a primary effect, the general spontaneous activation of both the cardioexcitatory and the cardioinhibitory medullary centres. These effects have been shown by keeping constant those parameters which, when modified, produced secondary effects hiding the investigated primary ones.

Ils ont aussi contrôlé l'efficacité du propranolol, agent d'arrêt de transmission-adrénergique, empêchant tout changement dans les fonctions du cur.

The influence of thenalidine on reserpine- and serotonin-induced gastric ulcers in rats

Zusammenfassung Die Vorbehandlung mit Thenalidin (Sandosten) führt zur Verminderung der mit Serotonin hervorgerufenen hämorrhagischen Erosionen im Magen der Ratten. Thenalidin zeigt einen Effekt auf das mit Reserpin bewirkte Magengeschwür und verstärkt die Vormagengeschwürbildung bei den Ratten.

Possible influence of prolactin on intestinal hypertrophy in pregnant and lactating rats

Summary The increase in intestinal weights during lactation, and to a lesser extent during pregnancy, is inhibited by bromocriptin. Effect of consumption of green and black tea on the level of various enzymes in rats

Drinking of both green and black tea as the only liquid ingested resulted in significant decreases in the activity of transketolase in whole blood of rats both before and after the in vitro addition of thiamin diphosphate. Liver transketolase activity was decreased only by green tea. Mucosal transketolase activity was not affected by either type of tea. The activity of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) was not affected by either type of tea, while whole blood LDH was decreased by both green and black tea. Neither tea had any affect on mucosal alkaline phosphatase, but thiamin diphosphatase activity was decreased by both teas. An increase in liver total thiamin resulted from the drinking of both types of tea.

Close relation between hypothalamic and cardiac norepinephrine during stress and its role in acute myocardial infarction disrhythmias

Summary The decrease of the norepinephrine levels in hypothalamus and heart caused by stress is prevented by pargyline and imipramine. Such a decrease in spleen and adrenals is not affected. Chlorpromazine and lithium only prevent the norepinephrine decrease in the spleen. The uptake of H³norepinephrine by isolated atria of guinea-pig increases during anoxia; the change to a normal oxygen situation decreases these norepinephrine levels by more than 50%.     

Does prolactin control the blood progesterone level on early dioestrus in rats?

Summary Bromocriptine treatment on either prooestrus or oestrus in female rats did not affect luteal function on the day of dioestrus 1.This investigation was partially financed by the C.N.R.S. Outliers,level shifts,and variance changes in time series

Outliers, level shifts, and variance changes are commonplace in applied time series analysis. However, their existence is often ignored and their impact is overlooked, for the lack of simple and useful methods to detect and handle those extraordinary events. The problem of detecting outliers, level shifts, and variance changes in a univariate time series is considered. The methods employed are extremely simple yet useful. Only the least squares techniques and residual variance ratios are used. The effectiveness of these simple methods is demonstrated by analysing three real data sets.
