The tyrosine is decarboxylated in vitro by the central nervous tissue and by the intracardiac nervous tissue of Helix pomatia by aromatic amino-acid decarboxylase. The tyramine obtained is then partially transformed into octopamine by tyramine-beta-hydroxylase. The inhibition of monoamine oxidase favours apparition of the 2 amines. The monoamine oxidase seems able to regulate their synthese and to assure their inactivation.  相似文献

The insulin-like growth factor (IGF) axis is a multicomponent molecular network which has important biological functions in the development and maintenance of differentiated tissue function(s). One of the most important functions of the IGF axis is the control of skeletal tissue metabolism by the finely tuned regulation of the process of osteogenesis. To achieve this, the IGF axis controls the activity of several cell types—osteoprogenitor cells, osteoblasts, osteocytes and osteoclasts to achieve the co-ordinated development of appropriate hard tissue structure and associated matrix deposition. In addition, there is an increasing awareness that the IGF axis also plays a role in the process of odontogenesis (tooth formation). In this review, we highlight some of the key findings in both of these areas. A further understanding of the role of the IGF axis in hard tissue biology may contribute to tissue regeneration strategies in cases of skeletal tissue trauma.  相似文献

Epinephrine cannot stimulate adipocytes' lipolysis of human subcutaneous adipose tissue (lateral part of the thigh) while a clear lipolytic action can be shown on the omental tissue. However, at the same concentrations, isoproterenol (a beta-agonist) exerts a strong adipokinetic effect on adipocytes of the both types of adipose tissue. An alpha-adrenolytic (phentolamine) enhances the lipolytic action of epinephrine on the omental adipose tissue and unmasks a lipolytic action of epinephrine on the subcutaneous. Epinephrine antagonizes the lipolysis induced by theophyline on the subscutaneous adipocytes, this action is increased by propranolol (a beta-adrenergic blocking agent). The unresponsiveness to epinephrine of the subcutaneous adipose tissue studied here could be linked to a strong antilipolytic alpha-adrenergic effect.  相似文献

Summary In addition to several anomalous structures, other general forms of definitely rod-shaped microorganisms have been found by scanning and transmission electron microscopy in the lung tissue taken at autopsy from a patient who succumbed to confirmed Legionnaires' disease with extensive necrotizing lobar pneumonia. The microorganisms were greatly varied in size and shape. They were micrographed in the act of fission. These forms have been found to some extent throughout the tissue. In the course of the last decades, metabolism research has demonstrated that adipose tissue is not an inactive tissue. Rather, adipocytes are key actors of whole body energy homeostasis. Numerous novel regulators of adipose tissue differentiation and function have been identified. With the constant increase of obesity and associated disorders, the interest in adipose tissue function alterations in the XXIst century has become of paramount importance. Recent data suggest that adipocyte differentiation, adipose tissue browning and mitochondrial function, lipogenesis and lipolysis are strongly modulated by the cell division machinery. This review will focus on the function of cell cycle regulators in adipocyte differentiation, adipose tissue function and whole body energy homeostasis; with particular attention in mouse studies.  相似文献

Summary The well defined circadian rhythms of glycogen content in heart, diaphragm and liver of the rat are drastically altered by a high lipid diet as shown by changes in amplitude, phase and tissue glycogen levels. Tissue injury initiates extracellular matrix molecule expression, including fibronectin production by local cells and fibronectin leakage from plasma. To benefit tissue regeneration, fibronectin promotes opsonization of tissue debris, migration, proliferation, and contraction of cells involved in the healing process, as well as angiogenesis. When regeneration proceeds, the fibronectin matrix is fully degraded. However, in a diseased environment, fibronectin clearance is often disturbed, allowing structural variants to persist and contribute to disease progression and failure of regeneration. Here, we discuss first how fibronectin helps tissue regeneration, with a focus on normal cutaneous wound healing as an example of complete tissue recovery. Then, we continue to argue that, although the fibronectin matrix generated following cartilage and central nervous system white matter (myelin) injury initially benefits regeneration, fibronectin clearance is incomplete in chronic wounds (skin), osteoarthritis (cartilage), and multiple sclerosis (myelin). Fibronectin fragments or aggregates persist, which impair tissue regeneration. The similarities in fibronectin-mediated mechanisms of frustrated regeneration indicate that complete fibronectin clearance is a prerequisite for recovery in any tissue. Also, they provide common targets for developing therapeutic strategies in regenerative medicine.  相似文献

The metabolic syndrome (MetS) includes a group of medical conditions such as insulin resistance (IR), dyslipidemia and hypertension, all associated with an increased risk for cardiovascular disease. Increased visceral and ectopic fat deposition are also key features in the development of IR and MetS, with pathophysiological sequels on adipose tissue, liver and muscle. The recent recognition of aquaporins (AQPs) involvement in adipose tissue homeostasis has opened new perspectives for research in this field. The members of the aquaglyceroporin subfamily are specific glycerol channels implicated in energy metabolism by facilitating glycerol outflow from adipose tissue and its systemic distribution and uptake by liver and muscle, unveiling these membrane channels as key players in lipid balance and energy homeostasis. Being involved in a variety of pathophysiological mechanisms including IR and obesity, AQPs are considered promising drug targets that may prompt novel therapeutic approaches for metabolic disorders such as MetS. This review addresses the interplay between adipose tissue, liver and muscle, which is the basis of the metabolic syndrome, and highlights the involvement of aquaglyceroporins in obesity and related pathologies and how their regulation in different organs contributes to the features of the metabolic syndrome.  相似文献

Bone is one of the most dynamic tissues, with constant remodelling and repair of minor defects during the whole life cycle. These processes have key roles in replacing fatigued, non-functional tissue with fresh tissue which has the proper mechanical properties. In this process, a balance between breakdown of less functional tissue and new tissue production is a prerequisite for tissue integrity and function. One of the major health problems in the elderly, i.e. osteoporosis and ensuing bone fracture, is caused by an imbalance between breakdown and synthesis in this continuous bone remodelling. Thus the study of cellular and molecular events governing the relevant processes is a prerequisite for understanding mechanisms and for future efficient therapeutical intervention.  相似文献

Photon emission in the visible and near ultraviolet range by samples of human tissue removed during surgery has been measured by means of a low noise photomultiplier coupled to a data acquisition system. The results show that among the 25 analyzed samples the 9 from normal tissues had an emission rate of the order of some tens of photons/cm2 min, while most of the 16 tumor tissue samples had a very much higher rate.  相似文献

During recent years our view of adipose tissue has been revolutionized. White adipose tissue (WAT) is no longer seen as mere energy store or provider of thermal and mechanical insulation. Neglect of WAT has been overcome by surprising discoveries in recent years, changing the view of this tissue towards a highly endocrine organ that is involved in a wide variety of physiological and pathophysiological processes. In this brief article we will focus on new developments in adipocyte and WAT biology. The appreciation of WAT as an endocrine organ will provide the basis for new and promising perspectives in the management of obesity and obesity-related diseases including diabetes, mellitus type II and arterial hypertension.  相似文献

Changes in the cardiac glutathione status after ischemia and reperfusion   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
In the isolated and perfused rabbit heart ischemia induced a rapid decline of contractility, associated with a reduction of the content of tissue GSH with no significant changes in GSSG. Reperfusion induced a small recovery of contractility, a substantial release of total glutathione and a further decrease in the content of tissue GSH with a significant increase of tissue GSSG. Glutathione reductase and glutathione peroxidase activities were not affected by ischemia and reperfusion. This study suggests a possible role for glutathione in the determination of functional damage induced by myocardial ischemia and reperfusion.  相似文献

Mammalian toll-like receptors: from endogenous ligands to tissue regeneration   总被引:13,自引:0,他引:13  
Following injury a complex but well-orchestrated cellular response stimulating wound healing and tissue regeneration is induced. The balance of different cytokines, growth factors and cells is important in regulating tissue reorganisation. The immune system is critically involved in this process. Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are essential to the innate immune system, recognising microbial pathogens. The recent identification of endogenous ligands of TLRs suggests that they function not only to induce defensive antimicrobial immune responses but also as a sensitive detection system to initiate tissue regeneration after injury. Here we present an overview of TLRs and their endogenous ligands, and also review the roles of TLRs in inducing tissue regeneration after injury and in maintaining homeostasis. The identification of endogenous TLR ligands and their involvement in inducing tissue regeneration will provide new options to improve tissue reorganization after injury. As part of studies on the pathogenesis of exophthalmos of Graves' disease, the biochemical composition of human retrobulbar tissue was investigated. The connective tissue was composed of 72.7% lipid, 23.8% water and 3.5% dried defatted tissue. Total tissue glycosaminoglycan (GAG) amounted to 0.18% of dried defatted tissue. Approximately 27% of the total hexosamine and 19% of the total tissue galactosamine were recovered in the GAG fraction. Cellulose microcolumn fractionation of GAG showed that the hyaluronic acid and dermatan sulfate were the two major GAG species.  相似文献

Summary The authors found that breast carcinomas contain 2 groups of antigens not detectable in normal tissue. The groups were extracted and partially purified. Summary The weight has been measured of the granuloma produced after implantation of the same foreign body in the kidneys, the testes, the liver and the subcutaneous tissue of male rats. It was found that granulomae in the testes and liver are nearly twice as heavy as in the kidney or in the subcutaneous tissue. Enhancement or inhibition of this reaction by treating the animals with cortexone shows organ-dependent effects on granuloma formation.  相似文献
