Summary The effects of storage and processing on the nutritive value of two Nigerian foods-raw cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) flour and palm oil, have been investigated. Increased retention of both thiamine and riboflavin as a result of increased water activity (Aw) were recorded for cowpea flour stored for 6 months. A storage temperature of 5°C led to minimal losses of both vitamins in the stored flour. Differences in physico-chemical characteristics were observed between palm oil produced by the traditional method and that produced by a modern commercial method. Increasing Aw led to decreasing loss of unsaturation in the traditionally-produced palm oil during 4-week storage at ambient temperature (25°C). 相似文献

L'activité de chacun de ces composés était plus grande que celle de l'hydroxyurée dans le même système d'essai. Zusammenfassung Die Zunahme von 5-HT, welche sich im Gehirn der Ratte nach Verabreichung von chemisch sehr verschiedenen Ganglienblockern vollzieht, konnte mit Hilfe einer hochempfindlichen histochemischen Methode auf spezifische 5-HT-Neuronen lokalisiert werden, deren Zellkörper, Axonen und Terminalen schnell ihren Amingehalt vermehren können. Bei den Katecholamin-Neuronen konnten keine deutlichen Veränderungen beobachtet werden. Tetrabenazine verursachen eine schnelle, totale Entleerung der Monoamindepots aller Teile der monoaminhaltigen Neuronen, gefolgt von einer schnellen Neubildung von Monoaminen16.

Summary L-lysine administration to male weanling rats at a dose of 110.4 mg (25% LD50) per 100 g body weight per day for 15 days reduced the liver total ascorbic acid level. The biosynthesis as well as the degradation of L-ascorbic acid was diminished under these conditions. The fall in liver total ascorbic acid level after L-lysine administration was ascribed to its reduced synthesis.Acknowledgment. Summary Information on the sources of cadmium in food are presented and the effects of raised environmental levels of cadmium on the concentration of cadmium in plant based foods, fish and shellfish, meat and offals, and dairy produce are discussed. Information is also presented on normal dietary intakes of cadmium and how these intakes may be elevated by environmental pollution or atypical dietary habits.
