Language is a means of communication.No doubt that foreign language teaching is to cultivate students' communicative competence of using a foreign language.As the country with the largest population learning English in the world,China is deeply involved in communicative language teaching.Communicative approach in English language teaching is frequently discussed and debated.It is believed by many linguists and teachers to be an effective method to solve some of the teaching and learning problems.But as far as the effective ways of teaching and learning a foreign language is concerned,people have some controversial ideas.The teaching method which have been used in China's English teaching were: grammar-translation method,listening and speaking method and situation method.     

An Analysis of Michael Long＇ s Interaction Hypothesis in Second Language Acquisition

The Interaction Hypothesis, which was first advanced by Michael Long, is considered as a further supplement or extension of the Input Hypothesis in the field of second language acquisition. This paper explains the main claims of Michael Long＇s Interaction Hypothesis, the three steps to study how input and interaction affect the acquisition of a second language, and the importance of the interactional modifications applied by both participants of the interaction. Emphasis is placed on the evaluation of the theory as well as its relation to second language teaching, with many researchers＇ findings and arguments discussed as supporting evidence. It aims to help the effective application of this theory in second language teaching.

A Survey of Language-Based Approaches to Cyber-Physical and Embedded System Development

As computers continue to advance, they are becoming more capable of sensing, interacting, and communicating with the physical and cyber world. Medical devices, electronic braking systems in automotive applications, and industrial control systems are examples of the many Cyber-Physical Systems(CPS) that utilize these computing capabilities. Given the potential consequences of software related failures in such systems, a high degree of safety, security, and reliability is often required. Programming languages are important tools used by programmers to develop CPS. They provide a programmer with the ability to transform designs into machine code. Of equal importance is their ability to detect and avoid programming mistakes. The development of CPS has predominantly been accomplished using the C programming language. Although C is a powerful language, it lacks features present in other languages that facilitate the development of reliable systems. This has prompted research into language-based alternatives for improving program quality through the use of programming languages. This paper presents an overview of the characteristics of embedded and cyber-physical systems and the associated requirements imposed on programming languages. This is followed by a survey of relevant research into languagebased methods for creating safe, reliable, and robust software for CPS.

Appreciating and analyzing of the language in Journey to the West

W.J.F.jenner is a well-known English writer and translator, whose English version Journey to the West was published by Foreign Language Press in 1984. ﹙first edition ,1982. second edition, 1984.﹚The writing in the English version is pure and fluent, and the selection of word is concise and precise .On top of this ,the English version is loyal to the content and style of the original book .Besides, Jenner's Translation is flexible according to different context . For example , the two Chinese Word "泼猴"appear many times in the first eight chapters in the original book , but Jenner translated them each time differently,as well as marvelously and appropriately . The flexibility of transition matches the concrete context and it is not only loyal to the original language, but it corresponds to the style of English language. Some Aspects on Oral English Teaching in Universities in China

English is one of the most important foreign languages taught in universities in China. However, the results are often far from satisfactory. Students in universities often find it hard to express themselves in oral English after many years' study. Language is the most important means of human communication, and communication is the most important function of language. Therefore, the ultimate goal of language instruction is to equip the learners with the ability to use the language for communication. How to help undergraduates to improve their oral English becomes a big challenge for English teachers in China. Aiming to make some contributions to improve undergraduates' oral English, this paper explores some areas of concern which are believed to be the most critical to the success of Oral English Teaching (OET) in China. The first part of this paper discusses some existing factors that constrain OET in China. It followed by exploring some aspects on improving OET for undergraduates in China. It also provides some techniques/methods essential for OET teachers to employ in a classroom.     

The ion chemistry of surface and ground waters in the Taklimakan Desert of Tarim Basin, western China

The physio-chemical and chemical features of water in natural conditions are controlled by the weath-ering of bedrocks,local climate,landforms and other geo-environmental parameters. In order to un-derstand the characteristics of water and the origins of the dissolved loads in the rivers and in the ground waters of the Taklimakan Desert,western China,we studied the ions in the water samples col-lected from rivers and wells. We collected water samples from four rivers (Keriya River,Cele River,Tumiya River and Yulongkashi River) in the southern desert and ground water samples from many parts of the desert. Major cations and anions were measured using ion-chromatograph and titration with HCl. The total dissolved solids (TDS),pH and conductivity were examined on site by a portable multi-parameter analyzer. The data show that the water in the rivers of southern Taklimakan is still of fresh water quality and slight alkalinity,although the TDS is comparatively higher than that of many other rivers of the world. The ground water is fresh to slightly saline,with TDS a little higher than that of river water in the study area. The concentration of ions is slightly different between the four rivers in the southern Taklimakan. However,the chemistries of ground water in all samples are to a large degree controlled by sodium and chloride. The ions in the ground water are concluded to be mainly from dissolving of evaporites,consistent with the dry climate in the region,whereas the ions in the rivers are mainly from rock weathering. Low-level human imprints are recognized in the ground water samples also.

Transmutation Scheme of Coin Flipping Protocol and Utilization

Coin flipping by telephone protocol（CFP） is utilized in a system to exchange a binary sequence at random between two person apart far from each other. However, CFP cannot he used in a system with many users like in a group environment system. A transmutation of CFP named T-CFP is proposed in this paper. The precondition of T-CFP is the system＇s user trusts the system center and center＇s cheating is meaningless at the same time. The significant difference between CFP and T-CFP is that CFP supports only two users while T-CFP can support many users to exchange special information. The security and efficiency of T-CFP are discussed with a detailed example on T-CFP utilization is demonstrated in this paper.     

Developing College Students’ English Speaking Skills in Chinese Context

Stress Analysis and Optimum Design of Hot Extrusion Dies

A three-dimensional model of a hot extrusion die was developed by using ANSYS software and its second development language—ANSYS parametric design language. A finite element analysis and optimum design were carried out. The three-dimensional stress diagram shows that the stress concentration is rather severe in the bridge of the hot extrusion die, and that the stress distribution is very uneven. The optimum dimensions are obtained. The results show that the optimum height of the extrusion die is 89.596mm.The optimum radii of diffluence holes are 65.048 mm and 80.065mm. The stress concentration is reduced by 27%.     

A Contrast of Cultural Connotations between English and Chinese Color Terms

Color is perception of people to the objective world.In human language,there are great numbers of color terms recording color of the world.These color terms are often used in human language.Gradually,they are endowed with rich emotional elements and cultural connotations.In cross-cultural communication,different nations with different cultural backgrounds or people of the same nations with the same backgrounds but belonging to different social classes have different perceptions of various colors.The different perceptions of colors result in a series of associative meaning of color terms.This thesis intends to discuss color terms from the following five aspects.Firstly,it deals with the relationship between language and culture.Language and culture are connected with each other.So the understanding of a culture requires the understanding of the corresponding language and vice versa.Secondly,it aims at the contrast of cultural connotations of basic color terms in English and Chinese.Thirdly,it is devoted to a discussion of the possible reasons for the diversity of cultural connotations in the two languages.Fourthly,it focuses on the influences on the cross-cultural communication.
