Agar electrophoresis of soluble proteins isolated from cellular fractions of CCl4-treated rat liver

Riassunto Gli autori hanno studiato, mediante elettroforesi su agar, il comportamento delle proteine solubili isolate dalle diverse frazioni cellulari di epatociti di ratto, in corso di steatosi da CCl₄.A carico delle frazioni nucleare e mitocondriale è stata osservata una diminuzione dei componenti più e meno dispersi, con un raggruppamento in zone a motilità intermedia, pari a quella delle ₁-globuline sieriche o delle albumine, accanto ad una riduzione del numero dei componenti proteici chiaramente individuabili.Analoghe modificazioni sono state rilevate a carico dei componenti glico- e lipoproteici — nella sola frazione mitocondriale.     

Effect of acetone on VLDL secretion by the isolated rat liver

Summary High acetone levels occur in uncontrolled diabetes and after isopropanol administration to rats. In both conditions, very low density lipoproteins (VLDL) secretion is depressed. Acetone, however, failed to affect the VLDL secretion rate by the isolated perfused rat liver, suggesting that this metabolite is not involved in impaired VLDL production in diabetes and after isopropanol administration.

Riassunto La reazione di attivazione degli aminoacidi è significativamente diminuita nel fegato di ratti nelle prime ore dopo la somministrazione di CCl₄. Questa alterazione si accorda con la dimostrata diminuzione delle sintesi proteiche e può rappresentare uno dei fattori primitivi e principali nella genesi delle modificazioni biochimiche e morfologiche che si osservano in questa condizione patologica.     

Rhythmic activity of the isolated spleen during longterm perfusion

Zusammenfassung Bei der normothermen Perfusion von isolierten Schweine-, Kälber- und Menschenmilzen für maximal 72 Stunden wurden rhythmische Änderungen des Gefässwiderstands registriert. Der Einfluss von Papaverin, Phentolamin und Colchizin auf diese Rhythmik wird beschrieben.

A simple membrane oxygenator for the isolated rat liver perfusion

Summary Silastic capillary tubing was used in isolated rat liver perfusions as a simple membrane oxygenator supplying sufficient oxygen to cover the requirements of the liver.

Zusammenfassung Phytohämagglutinin hemmt die Furchungsteilung, im Gegensatz zu differenzierten Geweben, bei denen es als Mitoseaktivator wirkt. Wenn die Eier ausgewaschen werden, läuft die Entwicklung normal weiter.     

Gastric secretion during anaesthesia and its inhibition by metiamide and other drugs.

The histamine H2-receptor antagonist, metiamide, inhibits the acid gastric secretion produced by chloralose-urethane anaesthesia in dogs carrying gastric cannulae chronically. This secretion is also prevented by atropine and hexamethonium. "Spontaneous" gastric secretion of vagal origin in conscious dogs is also blocked by metiamide.     

The production of plasminogen activator during perfusion of isolated rabbit kidneys

Protection by cerium chloride on CCl4-induced hepatotoxicity

Summary Pretreatment of rats with cerium chloride, an inhibitor of the DMES, protects against CCl₄ intoxication. The protection was obtained against the fatty infiltration in the liver, the decrease of triglyceride secretion from the liver into the plasma compartment, the polysomal disaggregation and the rise of serum transaminases.     

Fluid secretion by isolated cockroach salivary glands

Summary An isolated preparation of the innervated cockroach salivary gland has been developed to study secretion.
