Thermal activation of the cyclic AMP stimulated sodium transport across isolated toad bladder and Na+/K+ ATPase in toad bladder homogenates

Zusammenfassung Der Temperaturkoeffizient für den durch das zyklische AMP und Theophyllin stimulierten Natriumtransport in der isolierten Krötenblase wurde analysiert. Die Enzympumpe wurde stärker beeinflusst als die mukosale Permeabilität und die Aktivität von Na⁺/K⁺ ATPase korrespondiert mit der Energie der Pumpenaktivität.     

Competitive inhibitors of neurohypophyseal hormones on adenylate cyclase from the toad urinary bladder

Zusammenfassung Adenylat-Cyclase in plasmamembranreichen Präparationen des Epitheliums von der Harnblase der Kröte wird durch Arginine-Vasopressin aktiviert. Diese Aktivierung wird durch mehre Oxytocinanaloge, die alle eine Substitution des Glutaminrestes in Position 4 des Hormones durch Leucin oder Isoleucin gemeinsam haben, kompetitiv gehemmt. Der stärkste Antagonist der Serie ist [2,4-diisoleucin]-Oxytocin und die antagonistische Aktivität nimmt in der Reihenfolge [4-Leucin]-, [2-Isoleucin-4-leucin]-, [2,4-Dileucin]- und [2-Phenylalanin-4-leucin]-Oxytocin ab. Die Resultate werden an Hand der Oxytocinkonformation diskutiert.

Zusammenfassung Es wird gezeigt, dass Maltose als Energielieferant für die Na-Pumpe in der Harnblase von Amphibien (Rana catesbiana) dienen kann.     

Effects of N-ethyl maleimide on urea facilitated transport across toad gall bladder

Summary An SH reactive agent, N-ethyl maleimide (10^–3 M for 2 min in the luminal fluid) selectively inhibits the urea transpithelial flux across the toad gall bladder. Thiourea and antipyrine flux is not inhibited. The inhibitory effect on urea flux seems to be exerted on the carrier mechanism of urea transport.     

Effect of a growth-promoting factor on protein synthesis and amino acid transport in vitro

Zusammenfassung Es wird nachgewiesen, dass sich in der Muskulatur ein Faktor befindet, der eine Anreicherung der -Amino-isobuttersäure in den Zellen hervorruft und der auch in vitro den Einbau von Leucin und damit die Proteinsynthese fördern kann. Ob dieser Faktor als Übermittler für Wachstumshormon wirkt, ist noch nicht abgeklärt.     

The effect of RNA synthesis inhibitors on prenucleolar bodies

Summary Inhibition of RNA synthesis prevents the fusion of prenucleolar bodies in the NOR region during nucleologenesis. Irreversible inhibition of sodium transport by the toad urinary bladder following photolysis of amiloride analogs

Summary Active sodium transport was completely and irreversibly inhibited in toad urinary bladders photolyzed in the presence of iodeam loride.     

Effect of actinomycin D on RNA and protein synthesis in regions of developing frog embryos

Résumé Aux stades neurula et bourgeon caudal du développement embryonnaire deRana pipiens, traitée à l'actinomycine D, la réduction de la synthèse de protéine est proportionellement moindre que celle du RNA. Aux niveaux semblables de l'inhibition de la synthèse du RNA, la synthèse de protéine a diminué plus fortement dans la région de l'endoderme que dans les cellules de l'ectoderme-mésoderme dorsaux, aux stades embryonnaires mentionnés plus haut. Les données suggèrent que le D-RNA se conserve mieux dans le cytoplasme des cellules de l'ectoderme-mésoderme dorseaux que dans celui des cellules de l'endoderme.

The effect of cyclic AMP on Na+ and K+ transport systems in mouse macrophages

Summary Exogenous cyclic AMP (cAMP) inhibits the Na⁺, K⁺-cotransport system and stimulates the Na⁺, K⁺-pump and Na⁺, Ca²⁺ exchange in mouse macrophages. These effects are enhanced by inhibition of phosphodiesterase with methylisobutylxanthine (MIX). MIX alone showed little or no effect. A similar response was observed after stimulation of endogenous production of cAMP by isoproterenol.     

Effect of inhibitors of protein synthesis from plants on tobacco mosaic virus infection

Summary Ricin, abrin, modeccin, gelonin andMomordica charantia inhibitor, as well as crude extracts ofBryonia dioica seeds and ofDianthus caryophyllus leaves, each inhibit protein synthesis in a rabbit reticulocyte lysate and reduce local lesion production by tobacco mosaic virus, thus resembling the effects of the pokeweed antiviral peptide.     

Effects of inhibition and stimulation of Na+-K+ active transport on the resting membrane input conductance of the guinea-pig ventricle

The effects of inhibition by ouabain and stimulation by high frequency drive of the sarcolemmal Na+-K+ active transport system on the resting input conductance (gi) of guinea-pig ventricular muscles were determined. Although both pump inhibition and stimulation were associated with changes in electrophysiological properties of the muscles, neither had a significant effect on gi.     

Autoradiographic studies on RNA synthesis and transport in the Salivary gland ofLygaeus sp. (Hemiptera-Lygaeidae)

Summary Autoradiographic studies using³H-uridine in the salivary gland of adultLygaeus sp. were carried out. The gland cell nuclei, particularly the multiple nucleoli, are the sites of incorporation of the label exhibiting RNA synthesis. The labelled molecules (RNA) are transported to the cell cytoplasm and then into the gland lumen in which no turnover of the radioactivity is observed.I am grateful to my teacher, Prof. P. S.
