The question of lens regeneration from parts of the optic vesicle in the chick embryo

Résumé Après excision du cristallin des yeux d'embryons de poulet de 48–72 h d'incubation les vésicules optiques étaient cultivées in vitro ou sur le chorio-allantoöide d'autres embryons. Elles étaient cultivées en quelques cas seules et en autres cas avec l'ectoderme céphalique. Nouveaux cristallins ne se formaient que si l'ectoderme céphalique était inclus avec la vésicule optique et si les vésicules étaient prélevées des jeunes embryons. On peut conclure que les nouveaux cristallins se forment dans l'ectoderme céphalique par induction. Nous n'avons trouvé aucune évidence de régénération du cristallin des tissus de l'oeil.

Short-term effects of colcemid on the rapid axonal transport of proteins in the optic pathway of chick embryos

Riassunto La somministrazione endoculare di piccole dosi di Colcemid in embrioni di pollo al 13° e al 18° giorno di incubazione diminuisce la sintesi proteica nella retina. Pur in misura diversa, i due farmaci bloccano il trasporto assonico di proteine dalle cellule gangliari retiniche al tetto ottico. Anche nell'embrione quindi il trasporto assonico dipende dalla integrità dei microtubuli neuronali.

Zusammenfassung Die Linsenregeneration beim Hühnchen tritt nur auf, wenn die Embryonen am 3. oder 4. Bebrütungstage operiert worden sind. Wenn die Operation später stattfindet, tritt keine Regeneration auf.

Biosynthesis of ascorbic acid in chick embryos

Summary Biosynthesis of ascorbic acid was found in the kidneys (mesonephros and metanephros) of the chick embryo as well as in the yolk sac membrane. The activity of L-gulonolactone oxidase in the yolk sac membrane suggested that it was the major source of ascorbic acid in the chick embryo.I am grateful to Dr R. Résumé Les veines du système porte et la veine ombilicale gauche d'embryons de poulet dans la dernière semaine d'incubation et de poussins à l'éclosion ont été cultivéesin vitro. Les auteurs y ont démontré la présence de contractions péristaltiques spontanées. Ils pensent que cette activité contractile rythmique favorisein vivo la circulation dans ces territories veineux.     

Alleviation of the toxicity of actinomycin D by uridine and thymidine on the morphogenesis of chick embryos cultivated in vitro

Zusammenfassung Untersuchung über die Wirkung von Actinomycin D auf Primitivstreifen- und Entwicklungsstadien der Kopfregion bei Hühnerembryonen in vitro: Anormale Entwicklung des Zentralnervensystems, der Somiten und des Herzens; diese Effekter konnten durch Thymidin oder Uridin zum Teil aufgehoben werden.

Development of oxidative metabolism in the non-innervated optic lobe of the chick

Summary Early removal of the optic cup of the chick embryo prevents innervation of the contralateral optic lobe. This reduces the rate of development of citrate synthetase. The posthatch increase of the level of this enzyme related to oxidative metabolism is not impaired by denervation of the chick optic lobe.     

Biochemical modifications of the crystalline lens in the experimental hypercholesteremia of rabbits

Résumé Les auteurs ont examiné par des méthodes biochimiques, en particulier celle deKingsley etSchaffert, le cristallin des lapins souffrant d'hypercholestérolémie expérimentale. Comparés aux contrôles, les animaux traités, ont présenté une augmentation de cholestérol de 24,6%, cette différence est significative (p< 0,001).     

The presence of specific proteins,in the absence of many serum proteins,in the rat seminiferous tubule fluid

Zusammenfassung Die Flüssigkeit in den Hodenkanälchen enthielt mehrere Proteine, die im Serum oder in der Hodenlymphe nicht nachweislich waren. Nur von einigen der Serumproteine waren in der Flüssigkeit der Hodenkanälchen schwache elektrophoretische Bänder zu sehen.

Development of the steady potential differences of the eyeball in chick embryos

Résumé Le potentiel D. C. mesuré sur la surface du globe oculaire de l'embryon de poulet croît à partir du 15 ème jour de 0.92±0.21 mV jusqu' à 9.26±0.76 mV au 21 ème jour l'incubation. L'augmentation maximum se situe entre le 17 ème et 18ème jour (2.57 et 6.61 mV). Elle correspond à la mise en jeu de l'appareil visuel afférent. La stabilité du potentiel D. C. du globe oculaire est directement proportionnelle à sa valeut.     

Mitotic activity during successive migrations in the diencephalon of chick embryos

Zusammenfassung Mitosezählungen bestätigen das vonBergquist undKällén ¹¹ angenommene Verhältnis zwischen Proliferation und sukzessiver Migration. Der Rhythmus der Mitoseaktivität, denKällén ¹⁵ im rhombenzephalen Teil des Neuralrohres während der ungleichen neuromerischen Phasen nachgewiesen hat, entspricht also einer ähnlichen Aktivität bei der sukzessiven Migration in der Area thalami.Im Unterschied zur Mitoseaktivität in den genannten Proliferationsstadien tritt die sukzessive Migration nur lokal auf (Bergquist ¹⁴).Erst einige Zeit, nachdem die Mitoseaktivität ihr Maximum erreicht hat, erscheint die Migrationsschicht. Dies ist wahrscheinlich dadurch bedingt, dass bei der Proliferation die Zellen im Neuralepithel an der Ventrikeloberfläche entstehen, in der Ventrikelwand in lateraler Richtung wandern und sich zum Schluss in einer zusammenhängenden Migrationsschicht sammeln, die vom weiter innen liegenden Neuralepithel deutlich abgegrenzt ist.
