Zusammenfassung Nach Eingabe vontrans-Stilben bei Ratten wurden die grössten Mengen im Harn als 3,4,4-Trihydroxystilben, 3,4,4-Trihydroxybibenzyl und 3,3, 4,4-Tetrahydroxybibenzyl nachgewiesen. Die Bibenzylderivate werden nachscheinlich nach Ausscheidung in der Galle von Darmbakterien metabolisiert.

Zusammenfassung Stellt man 2,2-Dihydroperoxy-2, 2-Diisopropyläther nachIvanov et al. aus Isopropyläther her, so entsteht nebenbei auch noch 2, 2-Dihydroperoxy-2, 2-Diisopropyl-Peroxid. Beide Peroxide kann man papier- und dünnschichtchromatographisch nachweisen und mit präparativer Dünnschichtchromatographie rein isolieren.     

The synthesis of toxicarol isoflavone

Zusammenfassung Die Synthese von Toxicarol Isoflavon (2, 2-Dimethylpyrano(6, 5: 7,8)-5-hydroxy-2,4 5-trimethoxyisoflavon) aus 2,2-dimethyl-5-hydroxy-7-methoxychroman wird beschrieben.     

A farnesyl arabinoside as an enhancer of glucose transport in rat adipocytes from a soft coral,Sinularia sp.

Separation of a lipophilic extract of a soft coral,Sinularia sp., assayed by enhancement of glucose transport in rat adipocytes, gave farnesyl 4-O--D-arabinopyranosyl--D-arabinopyranoside-2,2,3-triacetate (1a) whose structure was determined by spectroscopy. Enhancers of glucose transport may be useful for the prevention and treatment of diabetic disorders.

Summary During the development of anthers inTulipa cv. Apeldoorn the following chalcones were isolated: 2, 3, 4, 4, 6-pentahydroxychalcone as the main component and 2, 4, 4, 6-tetrahydroxy-3-methoxychalcone as well as 2, 4, 4, 6-tetrahydroxychalcone in a very small amount.

DNA repair nucleases

Stability of DNA largely depends on accuracy of repair mechanisms, which remove structural anomalies induced by exogenous and endogenous agents or introduced by DNA metabolism, such as replication. Most repair mechanisms include nucleolytic processing of DNA, where nucleases cleave a phosphodiester bond between a deoxyribose and a phosphate residue, thereby producing 5-terminal phosphate and 3-terminal hydroxyl groups. Exonucleases hydrolyse nucleotides from either the 5 or 3 end of DNA, while endonucleases incise internal sites of DNA. Flap endonucleases cleave DNA flap structures at or near the junction between single-stranded and double-stranded regions. DNA nucleases play a crucial role in mismatch repair, nucleotide excision repair, base excision repair and double-strand break repair. In addition, nucleolytic repair functions are required during replication to remove misincorporated nucleotides, Okazaki fragments and 3 tails that may be formed after repair of stalled replication forks.Received 12 June 2003; received after revision 29 July 2003; accepted 16 September 2003     

The synthesis of jaceidin

Zusammenfassung Durch Kondensation nachAllan-Robinson wurde aus 2,4,6-Trihydroxy-3, -dimethoxy-acetophenon das 4-Benzyloxy-5,7-dihydroxy-3,6,3-trimethoxyflavon dargestellt. Entbenzylierung in C-4-Stellung führte zum 5,7,4-Trihydroxy-3,6,3-trimethoxyflavon. Die Eigenschaften dieser Verbindung und ihre Derivate sind identisch mit dem ausCentaurea jacea L. isolierten Jaceidin bzw. seinen Derivaten.     

Bemerkungen zur Struktur des Capsorubins

Summary By oxidative degradation of capsorubin, it could be demonstrated that the methyl groups are in position 1, 1, 5 (1, 1, 5) and the OH-group is attached to carbon atom 3 (3). An analogous structure may be assumed for capsanthin and cryptocapsin.     

The synthesis of a natural dinucleoside phosphate derivative with the aid of a purine cyclonucleoside

Zusammenfassung Die Behandlung von 8-5-Anhydro-8-mercapto-2-o-mesylguanosin mit (1,2 Äquivalent) Tributylammonium-uridylat in siedendem DMF lieferte das Dinucleosidphosphat Uridyl-(3-5)-8-mercapto-2-o-mesylguanosin. Weitere Behandlung mit Raney Ni führte zum Uridyl-(3-5)-2-o-mesylguanosin.

Cyclic AMP and cyclic GMP in rats paw edema by prostaglandins

Summary Experimental results indicate that rat's paw oedema development by PGs is inhibited by 35 AMP and increased by 35 GMP. This research confirms the opposite effect to that of cyclic nucleotides. The respective behaviour of 35 AMP and 35GMP in their primary oedema-induced activity is discussed.We gratefully acknowledge the technical assistence of Mr.Sauro Pellegrini.     

Antimalarial activity of natural,racemic and unnatural dihydroquinine,dihydroquinidine and their various racemic analogs in mice infected withPlasmodium berghei

Zusammenfassung Racemisches Dihydrochinin und die beiden optischen Antipoden zeigen die gleiche Aktivität gegenPlasmodium berghei wie Chinin. Hingegen waren die entsprechenden Dihydrochinidine sowie die 6-Desmethoxy-7-chlor-Analogen von Dihydrochinin und Dihydrochinidin etwa viermal wirksamer.
