Summary The injection of horse red blood cells into the mouse 4 days before immunization with sheep red blood cells produces an inhibition of the primary response against sheep red blood cells. If the animal is thymectomized at birth, this antigenic competition does not occur. These findings do not permit a choice between the two hypotheses about antigenic competition.  相似文献

Summary An unicellular alga,Chlorella pyrenoidosa, which had been reported to protect C3H mice against sarcoma BP8, is shown, when injected in Freund's incomplete adjuvant, to modulate the antibody synthesis induced by immunization with a hapten-carrier complex.C. pyrenoidosa appeared to be able to initiate an antigenic competition between hapten and carrier determinants of the antigen molecule during antibody synthesis, and thus it could be speculated thatC. pyrenoidosa modulates the immune response at the macrophage level.Acknowledgments. Chronic oral exposure of mice to Cd++ inhibits cell-mediated immunity of delayed type hypersensitivity induced by sheep red blood cells (SRBC). No effect was detected on humoral immune response to SRBC. Spleen cells derived from mice exposed to Cd++ showed in vitro enhanced response to T and B cell mitogens. Somatic cell hybrids between Sp2/O-Ag14 mouse myeloma cells and lymphocytes derived from BALB/c mice hyperimmunized with sheep red blood cells (SRBC) were produced. One hybrid producing IgG1 antibody to SRBC was selected, cloned twice and subsequently transferred to BALB/c mice. After a number of transfers it was found that the antibody titer in ascites fluid gradually decreased. Cytogenetic analysis revealed gradual chromosome loss in the hybrid clone, which produced progressively less antibody.  相似文献

A large enzymatic complex cleaving C3 (C3'ase) in the absence of magnesium (EDTA) has been partially characterized in two patients. On gel filtration EDTA-C3'ase was found in an 800 000 fraction containing antigenic C4, IgA and IgG in addition to alpha-2-macroglobulin and IgM normally present. EDTA-C3'ase was specifically neutralized by antibodies to IgG, IgA and C4. The characteristics of this unusual enzymatic complex are compatible with that of a C4b2a complex stabilized by its specific binding to an auto-antibody of the IgG and/or IgA class.  相似文献

Summary Splenectomy completely erased the PFC response to SRBC in lizards. Summary The effect of 3 different doses of chronically-administered morphine on the primary immune response was studied in mice by estimating spleen/body weight ratio and serum hemolysin production against sheep red blood cells (SRBC). It was observed that morphine exerted a dose-dependent inhibitory effect on the immune response which was antagonized by the concomitant administration of naloxone. The findings suggest that the inhibitory effect of morphine is specific.  相似文献

By means of indirect immunofluorescence with sera obtained from patients after bone marrow transplantation it has been demonstrated that antibodies were reacting with the cytoplasm of basal cells ((C.B.C.) in the external root sheath of hairs (E.R.S.). Some sera were found to react with C.B.C. of the E.R.S. but not with the C.B.C of the epidermis. The change in the antigenic properties of the basal cells was found to be situated at the orifice of the sebaceous gland duct.  相似文献

The antigenic saturation of lobster arginine kinase (38 000 daltons) by its specific antibodies has been studied. It was found that seven antigenic binding sites are simultaneously reactive on the surface of the enzyme in the presence of a large excess of antibodies or of their Fab fragments. After cyanogen bromide cleavage, the antigenic reactivity is distributed on several fragments of various sizes.  相似文献

TSSA is detected on transformed cells by a mixed hemadsorption reaction. The medium of cultures of Rat cells transformed by Rous sarcoma virus (Prague strain, sub-group C) contains a soluble factor which specifically inhibits this reaction. This factor thus possesses the antigenic activity of TSSA which is associated with the presence of a component of molecular weight 42,000 by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis.  相似文献

Several glycopeptides structurally related to muramyl dipeptide (MDP) have been synthesized and evaluated for their ability to stimulate the non-specific resistance of hamsters against L. donovani infection. These compounds have been named CDRI compounds. The synthetic procedure used for compounds 86/448 and 84/212 is described. MDP and its synthetic congeners were administered as immunostimulants at a prophylactic dose of 3 mg/kg at two weeks interval. The challenge infection (1 x 10(7) amastigotes i.c./hamster) was given in between two doses of the compounds. One of the glycopeptides, CDRI comp. 86/448, has been found to be significantly more potent than MDP, effecting 92% inhibition of the challenge dose, whereas MDP produced only 26.5% inhibition. The effect of comp. 86/448 lasted until day 7 of challenge. The efficacy of sodium stibogluconate was appreciably improved in hamsters treated with comp. 86/448.  相似文献

Four new hexapeptide analogues of C-terminal Substance P fragment with increased solubility in aqueous solutions are described. The peptides contain histidine in positions 6, 8, 9 and 10, respectively. The effect of the structural changes on the hypotensive activity and antigenic properties of analogues was compared. It was found that substitution of amino acid residues in various positions in the C-terminal hexapeptide of Substance P resulted in different effects on the hypotensive and antigenic properties, respectively. Only the [His6] SP6-11 analogue had an unchanged antigenic structure when compared with the C-terminal region of Substance P, but it showed an almost total loss of hypotensive activity. The [His9] SP6-11 analogue retained 50% of the hypotensive activity of the C-terminal hexapeptide but showed a markedly reduced expression of the antigenic epitope localized in this region of Substance P.  相似文献
