Conformation and toxicity of amanitins

Zusammenfassung Die Cottoneffekte der Amanitine konnten dem Indolteil bzw. den Amidgruppen des Molekühls zugeordnet werden. Das untoxische Amanullin besitzt die gleiche Konformation wie die toxischen Peptide, das untoxische Aldoamanitin dagegen eine andere. Die absolute Konfiguration der Sulfoxidgruppe der Amatoxine ist identisch mit der des toxischen Phalloidinsulfoxids.

Ein bedeutender Teil der Anti-Tumor-Aktivität scheint ihren Ursprung in der chemischen Substanz Isoxanthopterin zu besitzen.

Summary The phloem sap ofRobinia Pseud-Acacia contains only sucrose and does not possess invertase activity. A sucrase is, however, present in nectar collected fromRobinia flowers: this enzyme identified as a transglucosidase, liberates greater amounts of fructose than of glucose from sucrose. Enzymic activity apparently commences 2–5 days before the flowers are fully open.

Robertsonian fusion between homologous chromosomes in a natural population of the least cotton rat,Sigmodon minimus (Rodentia,Cricetidae)

Zusammenfassung Die diploide Chromosomenzahl vonSigmodon minimus, einem Nager der Familie der Cricetiden ist 30. Im Karyotyp befindet sich kein grosses metazentrisches Chromosom. Bei Tieren aus einer Population von Silver City, New Mexico, wurden 29 Chromosomen gefunden. Eines davon war relativ gross und metazentrisch. Beim Paaren der Chromosomen in Meiose ist es evident, dass das metazentrische Chromosom das Fusionsprodukt von 2 homologen Chromosomen ist.

The discrimination of various cystine sulfoxides

Zusammenfassung L-Cysteinsäure-L-cysteinylester und symmetrischesL-Cystindisulfoxyd wurden als zwei isomere Oxydationsprodukte des Cystins isoliert und durch IR-Spektrum und verschiedenes Verhalten bei der elektrolytischen Reduktion charakterisiert. Mit Hilfe gleichmässiger mechanischer Titration wurden die pH-Beständigkeitsbereiche und das kritische pH beginnender Hydrolyse als abrupte Wendung in der Titrationskurve automatisch registriert.Die katalytische Wechselwirkung des Cysteins an der rotierenden Platinelektrode wurde indirekt als Endpunktindikation der amperometrischen Titration des Cysteins in Tris-Puffer benutzt.

Antineoplastic agents 32. The pseudoguaianolide helenalin

Zusammenfassung Aus der PflanzeHelenium autummnale (Familie compositae) wurde ein alkolischer Extrakt gewonnen, der cytotoxische und antileukämische Aktivität zeigte und die Helenalin (I) als wirksame Komponente enthielt. Die Behandlung von Mäusen, die Träger von P 388 lymphocytischer Leukämie waren, ergab eine beachtliche (T/C 220) Verlängerung ihrer Lebenserwartung. Die Substanz zeigte ausserdem einen wachstumshemmenden Einfluss auf das Walker 256 Karzinom. Helenalin ist das erste Sesquiterpen vom Pseudoguaianolid Typ, welches in vivo eine solche antineoplastische Aktivität zeigt.

Gene-enzyme relationships in the tryptophan pathway ofSchizosaccharomyces pombe

Die Trp-Synthetase und die PR-Transferase werden je von einem eigenen Gen codiert (trp2 resp.trp4). Dertrp1 Locus ist sowohl für die PRA-Isomerase als auch die InGP-Synthetase verantwortlich. Zusätzlich ist dieser Locus zusammen mit demtrp3 Locus an der Bildung einer aktiven AA-Synthetase beteiligt.

The role of glycine in the biosynthesis of a terpene

Zusammenfassung Mit doppelt markiertem Glycin konnte gezeigt werden, dass das Kohlenstoffatom der Methylgruppe viel besser als das Kohlenstoffatom der Karboxylgruppe in die Isoprengruppe des Ophiobolins B ausCochiobolus miyabeanus eingebaut wird. Die Radioaktivität wird in Ophiobolin B eingebaut, wenn die folgenden Verbindungen verwendet werden: [3-¹⁴C]-Serin, [¹⁴C-Methyl]-Sarcosin, [¹⁴C-Methyl]-Methionin, und [¹⁴C] Formate.
