NSFC＇s 2012 Annual Meeting for Foreign Affairs Held in Beijing

<正>NSFC's 2012 annual meeting for foreign affairs was successfully held in Beijing on Feb.24,h,2012. The theme of the meeting was to further implement the NSFC's open and cooperative strategy,identify the emphasis of NSFC's international cooperation work in 2012,and discuss NSFC's foreign affair administration and the modification of Guideline of the Fund for the International(Regional) Conference in China. Prof.Shen Wenqing,Vice President of NSFC,representatives from all bureaus and scientific departments, staff members from the Bureau of International Cooperation,a total of 45,attended the meeting.     

Plenary Meeting of the International Committee for the Evaluation of NSFC＇s Funding and Management Performance Held in Beijing

<正>The plenary meeting of the international committee for the evaluation of the funding and management performance of the National Natural Science Foundation of China(NSFC) was held in Beijing during December 16th-20th,2010.All the committee members were cordially received by Ms.Liu Yandong,State Councilor of the People's Republic of China.Ms.Liu Yandong emphasized that,stemming from the successful reform of China's ST system,the National Natural Science Fund has played a significant and active role during the past 25 years' development.Ms.Liu Yandong encouraged all the evaluation experts to provide an objective analysis and instructive suggestions for the development of the National Natural Science Fund from historical,developmental and international perspectives.She also required that all concerned parties should assist the evaluation experts to achieve an objective judgment and assessment which,     

China＇ s Fundamental Research in Energy Utilizations and Environment

The progress in the science of energy utilizations will act crucial effect on the developments of energy science and technology, which will then promote social and economical developments and fulfill requirements for the national strategic objectives. For the sake of sustainable development, a harmonious blend of energy utilizations and environment considerations will become one of the vital topics in the future research area of energy science. It is suggested that clean and high-efficiency utilization of traditional or fossil energy resources, fundamental investigations on the energy and environment theory, renewable energy utilizations, and the development of nuclear energy are selected as priority research areas during the period of the Tenth Five-year Plan of China, according to the development trend of the world energy science and the research background of Chinese energy science, It is expected to promote the interdisciplinary investigations in the science of energy utilizations and provide scientific and technological supports for the development of related advanced high technologies,     

President Chen Yiyu Met with Russian Delegation

On Jan.8,2007,NSFC President Chen Yiyu met with a Russian delegation headed by Academician Michail I.Kuzmin, Director of Irkutsk Science Center,Siberian Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences. Academician Kuzmin first conveyed the best wishes to leaders of NSFC from President of Russian Academy of Sciences and Russian Foundation for Basic Research.Then the two sides briefed respectively on the research on Lake Baikal and the Russia-China joint research expedition in 2005 and 2006, as well as the joint research in the future.

President Chen Yiyu Met with Mexican Governmental Technological Delegation

On August 18, Prof. Chen Yiyu, President of NSFC met with the seven-member Mexican governmental techno-logical delegation headed by Mr. Jaime Parada Avila, President of the National Council for Science and Technology of Mexico. President Chen briefed the Mexican side with information about NSFC‘s general functions, organizational structure, funding of projects, review and evaluation procedures and international cooperation.     

President Chen Yiyu Met with Omi

On April 24, 2008, Prof. Chen Yiyu, NSFC President, met with the delegation headed by Mr. Kouji OMI, Member of the Japanese Lower House of Representatives at Beijing Hotel. Mr. Omi briefed the 5th Science and Technology in Society Forum to be held in Kyoto in October 2008 and formally invited Prof. Chen to attend the Forum. Prof. Chen expressed his interests to the Forum and had a discussion on the topics of the Forum.

In a cozy and friendly atmosphere,both sides briefed each other about the latest development in NSFC and DFG,and exchanged views on the Excellent Initiative Program of DFG,the preparatory work of the Global Research Council,as well as the NSFC-DFG joint research projects approved in 2012.Both sides expressed satisfaction about the development of bilateral relations and confidence in future cooperation.
