Isoelectric focusing of neuraminidase

Zusammenfassung Die isoelektrischen Punkte der Neuraminidasen vonVibrio cholerae (pH 4.80) undClostridium perfringens (pH 4.95) wurden mittels isoelektrischer Fokusierung bestimmt. Neuraminidasen zwei verschiedener Influenzaviren (A₂/Aichi/68 und B/Mass/66) wurden entsprechend analysiert. Die Virus-Neuraminidasen waren Heterogen und hatten wesentlich höhere isoelektrische Punkte als die bakteriellen Enzyme.

Summary The solubilizing effect of Triton X-100 on beef heart submitochondrial particles (ETP_H) has been studied under various physiological conditions. Coupled, uncoupled and azide-inhibited ETP_H particles have been studied. Resumen Un agregado de proteínas solubilizadas en Triton X-100 fue resuelto como una banda por electroforesis a un pH de 8.5. En un pH de 7.1 estas fracciones no demuestran el efecto de agregación. Solamente electroforesis conTris/glicina como amortiguador y concentraciones del detergente menor de 0.6% dieron resultados.     

Cytoplasmic contaminants in Triton X-100 washed rat liver nuclei - a possible way of further purification.

The presence of cytoplasmic contaminants is demonstrated in preparations of rat liver nuclei, even after washing with Triton X-100. They can be removed by incubation at 37 degrees C in a medium of low-salt concentration.     

Isoelectric focusing study of radiation damage to dry conalbumin.

The effect of gamma-rays on iron-free conalbumin was studied by isoelectric focusing technique. The results obtained can be interpreted on the basis of radiation-induced conformational changes of the macromolecules through a cleavage of disulphide bridges. Treatments with reagents acting on disulphide bridges lead to isoelectric focusing patterns that confirm this hypothesis.

The authors confirm the analogy between Gc and DBP as a result of analytic studies by isoelectrofocusing and labeling of Gc with 3H vitamin D3. The presence of a relationship between Gc polymorphism and the amount of sunshine in a given region is discussed.     

Measurement of phosphatase activity in the cell wall obtained with the help of a nonionic detergent (Triton X 100)

The phosphatase activity of cell walls isolated by treating the intact roots with Triton X 100 is very steady. It is similar to that of living roots and that of cell walls isolated by centrifugation after the grinding of the tissues.     

Release of nonspecific esterases from the roots ofVicia faba L

Summary Roots ofVicia faba L. immersed in a buffer solution were found to release esterases into the environment. The substrate -naphthylacetate was taken up by the roots and degraded, the hydrolysis products being released back into the surrounding medium.
