This study has been carried out in order to examine the components of biologicalaand, in particular, seasonal variation in hematologic measurements in normal humans. Toward this end, 26 normal volunteers had monthly blood samplings during one calendar year for determination of number of red blood cells (RBC) and platelets, hemoglobin (Hb), hematocrit (Ht), mean corpuscular volume (MCV), MC Hb (MCH), MC Hb concentration (MCHC), RBC distribution width (RDW), mean platelet volume (MPV), platelet distribution width (PDW), plateletcrit (PCT), and plasma fibrinogen concentrations. The data were analyzed by means of spectral analyses of a group of time series or a single time series, and by means of repeated measures analyses of variance. Most of the hematologic variables show seasonal rhythms, such as annual rhythms or harmonics, which are expressed as a group phenomenon. An important part of the variance (>15%) in Ht, MCV, MCH, MCHC, RDW, number of platelets, MPV and plasma fibrinogen was explained by a yearly variation. The peak-trough differences (expressed as a percentage of the mean) in the yearly variations in number of RBC, Ht, MCV, MCH, MCHC and RDW were very low (all<8.5%). Number of platelets (14.4%) and plasma fibrinogen values (28%) showed a high-amplitude yearly variation. All hematological variables, except MCHC, show a high interindividual variability which exceeds by far the intraindividual variability.  相似文献

Crossed immunoelectrophoresis of "Triton X-100" solubilized proteins from (125I) iodinated normal and abnormal (Bernard-Soulier and thrombasthenic) platelets was performed using rabbit antibodies raised against whole, normal platelets. In Bernard-Soulier platelets neither of the two surface oriented forms of GP I, glycocalicin and glycoprotein Ib (band 13) were detected. In two patients with type I thrombasthenia, the most prominent precipitate (No. 16) and platelet fibrinogen (No 24) were not detected whereas in one patient with type II thromblasthenia, fibrinogen was normally detected and the amount of protein 16 was around 15% of the normal level. The alloantibody IgG L..., able to induce a "thrombasthenic-like" reactivity in normal human platelets, has been shown to be directed against protein 16.  相似文献

Summary Tissue injury (laparotomy) produces an increase in plasma fibrinogen. This increase is inhibited by the removal of the adrenal medulla, but injection of epinephrine in laparotomized-medullectomized rats returns fibrinogen levels to values similar to those observed in only laparotomized rats. Epinephrine administration to laparotomized rats increases the fibrinogen compared with the group of laparotomized rats without treatment, but epinephrine by itself does not modify plasma fibrinogen levels in uninjured rats. Epinephrine is apparently responsible for the increase of plasma fibrinogen in rats subjected to tissue injury, probably through beta adrenergic stimulation.  相似文献

Of the nine biological trace elements, zinc, copper and selenium are important in reproduction in males and females. Zinc content is high in the adult testis, and the prostate has a higher concentration of zinc than any other organ of the body. Zinc deficiency first impairs angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) activity, and this in turn leads to depletion of testosterone and inhibition of spermatogenesis. Defects in spermatozoa are frequently observed in the zinc-deficient rat. Zinc is thought to help to extend the functional life span of the ejaculated spermatozoa. Zinc deficiency in the female can lead to such problems as impaired synthesis/secretion-of (FSH) and (LH), abnormal ovarian development, disruption of the estrous cycle, frequent abortion, a prolonged gestation period, teratogenicity, still-births, difficulty in parturition, pre-eclampsia, toxemia and low birth weights of infants. The level of testosterone in the male has been suggested to play a role in the severity of copper deficiency. Copper-deficient female rats are protected against mortality due to copper deficiency, and the protection has been suggested to be provided by estrogens, since estrogens alter the subcellular distribution of copper in the liver and increase plasma copper levels by inducing ceruloplasmin synthesis. The selenium content of male gonads increases during pubertal maturation. Selenium is localized in the mitochondrial capsule protein (MCP) of the midpiece. Maximal incorporation in MCP occurs at steps 7 and 12 of spermatogenesis and uptake dereases by step 15. Selenium deficiency in females results in infertility, abortions and retention of the placenta. The newborns from a selenium-deficient mother suffer from muscular weakness, but the concentration of selenium during pregnancy does not have any effect on the weight of the baby or length of pregnancy. The selenium requirements of a pregnant and lactating mother are increased as a result of selenium transport to the fetus via the placenta and to the infant via breast milk.  相似文献

Summary The glutathione peroxidase activity in the plasma of rats on the 20th day of pregnancy was found to be 50% lower than in nulliparous control animals. During lactation, the level rose again but was still significantly different from that of the control rats on the 20th day post partum. Summary The plasmatic fraction, which is precipitated by cooling human heparin plasma, has been found to contain the constituent identical with-globulin and also another component with the fibrinogen of Cohns' fraction I immunologically identical. With the help of the agar-gelose diffusion method, no qualitative immunological differences have been found with regard to the antigenous composition of the plasmatic fraction isolated in cases of various system diseases.  相似文献

Summary The investigations concern the alterations of the plasma kininogen level of rats and rabbits during gestation. The results obtained with these animals are analogous to man. Plasma lipid-bound sialic acid (LSA) was assayed in normal volunteers, patients with non-malignant diseases, and a variety of cancer patients. Mean plasma LSA in 50 normal volunteers, 16 patients with non-malignant diseases, 54 breast cancer, 17 lung cancer, 15 colon cancer, 7 ovarian cancer, 5 prostate cancer, 4 leukemia, 4 gastrointestinal, 3 thyroid cancer, 3 pancreas cancer and 2 adrenal cancer patients were 17.7, 23.2, 58, 85, 56.7, 46.2, 56.7, 53.3, 31.1, 33.2 and 119.5 mg/dl, respectively. None of the normal volunteers had elevated plasma LSA values. Plasma LSA level was not significantly different in male and female volunteers. Two out of 114 different cancer patients had plasma LSA levels within normal range exhibiting 98.2% sensitivity of the assay. Plasma LSA, which is relatively simple to assay, may be used as a tumor marker in wide variety of neoplastic diseases.  相似文献

Daily administration of synthetic ACTH (betaI-23 corticotrophine) from day 15 of pregnancy induces delay or inhibition of parturition in normal or ovariectomized Rats injected or not with estradiol. Parturition takes place at approximatively normal time, when ACTH is stopped and estradiol continued. Radio-immunological assays show an increase of blood progesterone level after ACTH administration in castrated, but not in castrated and adrenalectomized Rats. The administration of LHRH or of its analog [D-Ala6, des-Gly-NH10(2)] LHRH ethylamide to the female rat on day 10 of gestation resulted in termination of pregnancy and in a marked decrease in ovarian LH receptors and plasma progesterone level. Asingle injection of either compound during diestrus I also led to a decrease in LH receptors. These data demonstrate the high sensitivity of the control of ovarian LH receptors by circulating gonadotrophins and suggest that the contraceptive action of pre- and postcoitally administered LHRH is mediated by negative control of LH receptors.  相似文献

Purified pregnancy associated plasma protein A (PAPP-A) can be effectively bound to polystyrene microtitre plates. This immobilized antigen competes with the added serum PAPP-A of unknown concentration for the limited amount of peroxidase-labeled monospecific anti-PAPP-A antibody incubated simultaneously.
