The free amino acid pools of two aquatic hyphomycetes

Résumé Les masses communes des amino-acides libres chezTetracladium setigerum etHeliscus submersus ont été analysées par des méthodes chromatographiques utilisant une couche mince de cellulose. Elles sont typiques pour la plupart des mycètes. Les amino-acides libres n'apparaissant que rarement ont été: l'hydroxyproline chezT. setigerum cultivé sur de l'acide glutamique, l'éthanolamine chezT. setigerum etH. submersus cultivé sur l'acide glutamique et enfin l'acide -aminobutyrique chezH. submersus avec comme nutrition la tyrosine.     

On the action of chromomycin on the eggs and embryos ofCiona intestinalis

Riassunto È stata studiata l'azione della cromomicina sulle uova diCiona intestinalis (Ascidie) in diversi stadi di sviluppo. Essa non esercita alcun effetto sull'uovo vergine o appena fecondato; modifica invece notevolmente la morfogenesi se il trattamento è portato sulle uova in gastrulazione. I risultati vengono spiegati ammettendo che la cromomicina esercita la stessa azione che la actinomicina D e cioè inibisce la sintesi del MRNA.     

Cholinesterase in the development ofCiona intestinalis (Ascidia)

Riassunto Con metodo istochimico, sono state effettuate ricerche sulla presenza, la localizzazione, e il tempo di comparsa della colinesterasi nello sviluppo diCiona intestinalis (Ascidie). È stato visto che: 1) l'attività colinesterasica, negativa negli stati precoci di sviluppo, si palese durante e dopo la neurulazione; 2) il territorio in cui si localizza la reazione è esclusivamente quello muscolare; 3) esiste una relazione tra la presenza dell'enzima e la capacità funzionale dell'embrione; 4) nella reazione è interessato un solo tipo di enzima e precisamente la colinesterasi specifica o acetilcolinesterasi.     

Identification and biosynthesis of steroid hormones in the gonads ofCiona intestinalis

Riassunto Da 185 g di tessuto testicolare diCiona intestinalis sono stati estratti ed identificati i seguenti ormoni steroidi: deidroepiandrosterone, cortisone e cortisolo. Nel tessuto ovarico é presente il cortisone. Incubando il tessuto testicolare con pregnenolone-7-H³ e progester-one-4-C¹⁴ sono stati isolati i seguenti metaboliti: deidroepiandrosterone, testosterone, e desossicorticosterone. Dalle incubazioni del tessuto ovarico con gli stessi precursori sono stati isolati i seguenti metaboliti: 17-idrossipregnenolone, deidroepiandrosterone, androstenedione, testosterone, desossicorticosterone e cortisone.

Mais, au contraire, ils ne subissent aucune altération pendant la métamorphose, et ce résultat est bien différent de celui signalé parWeber avecXenopus laevis.     

The free amino acid contents and growth rates of polyploidSaccharomyces

Zusammenfassung In einer genetisch nachweisbar polyploiden Familie von Saccharomyces wurden der Gesamtgehalt an freien intrazellulären Aminosäuren und die Geschwindigkeit der Zellteilungen in Abhängigkeit der Ploidie bestimmt. Es liess sich zeigen, dass die Geschwindigkeit der Zellteilungen von der Ploidie nicht beeinflusst wird, während der Gesamtgehalt an freien intrazellulären Aminosäuren sich direkt proportional mit der Zunahme der Ploidie vergrössert (Verhältnis 1:1).     

Effect of riboflavin deficiency on free amino acid nitrogen concentrations of liver,muscle and plasma

Zusammenfassung Männliche Albino-Ratten, 45 Tage bei riboflavinarmer Nahrung, zeigten erhöhten Gehalt freien Aminosäure-Stickstoffs in Leber, Muskel und Plasma. Die Erhöhung scheint durch eine gesteigerte Aktivität der Nebennierenrinde beim Riboflavinmangel herbeigeführt zu sein.     

Changes in the free amino acid pattern of haemolymph of the common indian scorpionPalamnaeus bengalensis during moulting

Summary Haemolymph ofPalamnaeus bengalensis contains normally 12 and during moulting up to 15 free amino acids, being in maximal number at the end of ecdysis. Aminoacidaemia is most pronounced during the pharate stage. Tyrosine appeared for tanning of the cuticle. Taurine and methionine were not present.Acknowledgment. The author is thankful to Dr.S. C. A general update review of the dynamic aspect of protein metabolism is presented. The effect of excess protein level on protein metabolism has been the object of a limited number of studies in man. From the information available, it appears that the primary regulatory pathway for body protein homeostasis is the process of amino acid (protein) oxidation.

Summary A general update review of the dynamic aspect of protein metabolism is presented. The effect of excess protein level on protein metabolism has been the object of a limited number of studies in man. From the information available, it appears that the primary regulatory pathway for body protein homeostasis is the process of amino acid (protein) oxidation.     

Formation of asparagine and increase in the free amino acid content in virus infected leaves ofAbelmoschus esculentus

Zusammenfassung Papierchromatographische Analysen der freien Aminosäuren und Amide in gesunden und mit «yellow mosaic»-Virus infizierten Blättern vonAbelmoschus esculentus zeigen neben einer Zunahme von Leucin, Phenylalanin, Valin + Methionin und Asparaginsäure die Bildung einer neuen, ninhydrinpositiven Substanz und Asparagin in den infizierten Blättern. Es werden Anregungen für weitere Untersuchungen gemacht.     

Changes in free amino acid level due to physical and chemical agents in ageingDrosophila

Summary The effects of gamma rays and caffeine on total free amino acids were assessed in unirradiated and irradiated ageingDrosophila. As age advances, there is a rise in the quantity of free amino acids in untreated males and females. Gamma rays and caffeine strongly reduce the level of free amino acids in both the sexes.Acknowledgment.
