Zusammenfassung Stellt man 2,2-Dihydroperoxy-2, 2-Diisopropyläther nachIvanov et al. aus Isopropyläther her, so entsteht nebenbei auch noch 2, 2-Dihydroperoxy-2, 2-Diisopropyl-Peroxid. Beide Peroxide kann man papier- und dünnschichtchromatographisch nachweisen und mit präparativer Dünnschichtchromatographie rein isolieren.     

The synthesis of a natural dinucleoside phosphate derivative with the aid of a purine cyclonucleoside

Zusammenfassung Die Behandlung von 8-5-Anhydro-8-mercapto-2-o-mesylguanosin mit (1,2 Äquivalent) Tributylammonium-uridylat in siedendem DMF lieferte das Dinucleosidphosphat Uridyl-(3-5)-8-mercapto-2-o-mesylguanosin. Weitere Behandlung mit Raney Ni führte zum Uridyl-(3-5)-2-o-mesylguanosin.

Zusammenfassung 2, 2:6, 2-Terpyridin gibt mit Aethylendibromid ein diquartäres Salz, das durch Reduktion mit Zink eine Radikalkation liefert. Es handelt sich um ein Redox-System und das Salz besitzt herbizide Wirksamkeit.     

The selective esterification of the 5′-hydroxyl of thymidine

Zusammenfassung Ein einfacher Weg zur selektiven Esterbildung mit der 5-Hydroxylgruppe von Thymidin wird beschrieben. Beispiele: Thymidin-5-phosphat, Thymidin-5-sulfat und Thymidin-5-trichloracetat.     

Einbau des 2′,4,4′,6′-Tetrahydroxy-chalkon-2′-glucosid-[β-14C] in Isoflavone

Summary 2,4,4,6-Tetrahydroxychalcone-2-glucoside-[-¹⁴C] is incorporated into biochanin-A in chana germ (Cicer arietinum L.) without randomization of the radioactivity. Possibly a very low incorporation into formononetin occurs also. After administration of the chalcone a large part of the activity is bound to the acid insoluble residue of the cicer shoots (lignin-like substances) in an (as yet) undetermined manner. This binding also occurs in heat denatured homogenates.

Cyclic AMP and cyclic GMP in rats paw edema by prostaglandins

Summary Experimental results indicate that rat's paw oedema development by PGs is inhibited by 35 AMP and increased by 35 GMP. This research confirms the opposite effect to that of cyclic nucleotides. The respective behaviour of 35 AMP and 35GMP in their primary oedema-induced activity is discussed.We gratefully acknowledge the technical assistence of Mr.Sauro Pellegrini.

Hoplonemertine worms—a new source of pyridine neurotoxins

Summary Two pyridine bases were isolated from the marine hoplonemertineAmphiporus angulatus (Fabricius) and identified by mass and PMR-spectroscopy as 2,3-bipyridyl and 3,2; 3,2; 4,3'-tetrapyridyl (Nemertelline). Nemertelline, the first tetrapyridyl natural product to be reported, shows a structural resemblance to the tobacco constituent nicotelline. The crustacean toxicity of 2,3-bipyridyl is very similar to that of nicotine, but its mammalian toxicity is negligible.We thank DoctorsN. Meinkoth andN. Riser for collecting specimens, Dr.F. The synthesis of jaceidin

Zusammenfassung Durch Kondensation nachAllan-Robinson wurde aus 2,4,6-Trihydroxy-3, -dimethoxy-acetophenon das 4-Benzyloxy-5,7-dihydroxy-3,6,3-trimethoxyflavon dargestellt. Entbenzylierung in C-4-Stellung führte zum 5,7,4-Trihydroxy-3,6,3-trimethoxyflavon. Die Eigenschaften dieser Verbindung und ihre Derivate sind identisch mit dem ausCentaurea jacea L. isolierten Jaceidin bzw. seinen Derivaten.

Summary Incubation of 5,5-7,7-tetramethoxy-8,8-biflavone withAspergillus niger results in the formation of 4,4-dihydroxy-5,5-7,7-tetramethoxy-8,8-biflavan.Part of this work was done at Allahabad University, Chemical Laboratories.     

A new chalcone glucoside and cernuoside from the flowers ofAcacia dealbata

Summary A new chalcone glucoside has been isolated from the flowers ofAcacia dealbata and shown to be 4,2,4,6-tetrahydroxy-3-methoxychalcone 2-O--D-glucoside (1) by chemical degradations and spectroscopic methods. Cernuoside (4,6,3,4-tetrahydroxyaurone 4-O--D-glucoside), (2) has also been found in this plant material.Acknowledgments. The author thanks Prof. H. Potentiating effect of phenylephrine on isoproterenol activation of thyroxine type II deiodinase in the pineal gland of adult rats

In the present study we show, for the first time, that phenylephrine (PHE), an -adrenergic receptor agonist, potentiates the effect of isoproterenol (ISO), a -adrenergic agonist, in activating pineal type II5-deiodinase (5-D) activity. The potentiating effect of PHE was observed only at doses of ISO which induce submaximal activation of the enzyme. However, at doses which lead to maximal activation of the enzyme, PHE was ineffective. The results suggest that not only -, but also -adrenergic receptors, are involved in the sympathetic noradrenergic regulation of pineal 5-D activity in the adult rat.     

Uptake of D-glucose anomers by rat retina

Summary Uptake ofd-glucose anomers by isolated rat retina was studied. After 3 min incubation at 37°C in the presence of or anomer (750 g/ml), a significantly greater uptake (1.32 mg/g wet tissue) of -anomer was observed compared with that of -d-glucose (1.11 mg/g wet tissue). This result and other data suggest that the carrier ford-glucose transport in the retina prefers the -anomer stereospecifically.Acknowledgment. The authors are grateful to Mr S. Hemmung der Phosphodiesterase aus Rattenherzen durch Intensain

Summary Intensain causes in vitro a significant and apparently competitive inhibition of phosphodiesterase, which transforms the 3,5-AMP to 5-AMP. These results explain some intensain effects, especially the period of latency to reach the maximum effect, the inotropic action and its reaction under the influence of-blocking and-stimulating agents^10–13.

Summary During the development of anthers inTulipa cv. Apeldoorn the following chalcones were isolated: 2, 3, 4, 4, 6-pentahydroxychalcone as the main component and 2, 4, 4, 6-tetrahydroxy-3-methoxychalcone as well as 2, 4, 4, 6-tetrahydroxychalcone in a very small amount.
