Impact analysis and control of weak intercalation on fly rock

The cause and mechanism of fly rock in geological condition of weak intercalation are analyzed. Ac- cording to the features of fly rock caused by weak intercalation, the differences of fly rock caused in weak inter- calation and general condition are distinguished. Specific to complicated circumstance of weak intercalation and town, the control measures of fly rock are given. With project examples, the control measures are scientific and rational, and have important project value.     

Dynamic Analysis of Some Impulsive Fractional-Order Neural Network with Mixed Delay

In this paper,the authors study some impulsive fractionalorder neural network with mixed delay. By the fractional integral and the definition of stability, the existence of solutions of the network is proved,and the sufficient conditions for stability of the system are presented. Some examples are given to illustrate the main results.     

Electromagnetic waves in remote sensing

Due to the advance of space-home remote sensing technology in recent decades, the transition from data to information of the earth environment has become of great importance. Interaction of electromagnetic waves with the earth environment should be well modeled and applied to information retrieval. The most important advances of po--larimetrie scattering for SAR imagery and vector radiative transfer theory for scattering and emission of natural media are briefly presented. Some examples from the SAR SIR-C and DMSP SSM/I observations and information inversions are demonstrated. Some key points for future research are discussed.     

ABC model and floral evolution

The paper introduces the classical ABC model of floral development and thereafter ABCD, ABCDE and quartet models, and presents achievements in the studies on floral evolution such as the improved understanding on the relationship of reproductive organs between gnetophytes and angiosperms, new results in perianth evolution and identified homology of floral organs between dicots and monocots. The evo-devo studies on plant taxa at different evolutionary levels are useful to better understanding the homology of floral organs, and to clarifying the mysteries of the origin and subsequent diversification of flowers.     

Model evolvement and reuse technology of injection molding machine based on performance knowledge

To illuminate the necessity of model evolvement and reuse, dynamics of injection molding machine＇s product models are analyzed. The performance knowledge is used to support the model evolvement and reuse. The driven factors of mechanical product model are concluded. The dynamic characteristics of reuse. Finally, HT1800X1N series injection molding machines are taken as examples to illuminate that the arithmetic is correct and practical.     

System reliability analysis for kinematic performance of planar mechanisms

Based on the reliability and mechanism kinematic accuracy theories, we propose a general methodology for system reliability analysis of kinematic performance of planar mechanisms. The loop closure equations are used to estimate the kinematic performance errors of planar mechanisms. Reliability and system reliability theories are introduced to develop the limit state functions （LSF） for failure of kinematic performance qualities. The statistical fourth moment method and the Edgeworth series technique are used on system reliability analysis for kinematic performance of planar mechanisms, which relax the restrictions of probability distribution of design variables. Finally, the practicality, efficiency and accuracy of the proposed method are demonstrated by numerical examples.     

Bounds of Spectral Radii of Weighted Trees

Graphs for the design of networks or electronic circuits are usually weighted and the spectrum of weighted graphs are often analyzed to solve problems. This paper discusses the spectrum and the spectral radii of trees with edge weights. We derive expressions for the spectrum and the spectral radius of a weighted star,together with the boundary limits of the spectral radii for weighted paths and weighted trees. The analysis uses the theory of nonnogative matrices and applies the “moving edge” technique. Some simple examples of weighted paths and trees are presented to explain the results. Then, we propose some open problems in this area.     

Difference schemes on non-uniform mesh and their application

High order accurate schemes are needed to simulate the multi-scale complex flow fields to get fine structures in simulation of the complex flows with large gradient of fluid parameters near the wall, and schemes on non-uniform mesh are desirable for many CFD (computational fluid dynamics) workers. The construction methods of difference approximations and several difference approximations on non-uniform mesh are presented. The accuracy of the methods and the influence of stretch ratio of the neighbor mesh increment on accuracy are discussed. Some comments on these methods are given, and comparison of the accuracy of the results obtained by schemes based on both non-uniform mesh and coordinate transformation is made, and some numerical examples with non-uniform mesh are presented.     

Discovery of Middle Jurassic palaeontinids from Inner Mongolia, China (Homoptera: Palaeontinidae)

A new genus and three new species of fossil Palaeontinidae， Papilioncossus conchatus sp. nov., P. giganteus sp. nov.　and P. pteroideus sp. nov.， are described. All of them were collected from Middle Jurassic Jiulongshan Formation in Inner Mongolia, China. Based on distal part of forewing broader and longer than basal and Sc usually with branches, the new taxa are attributed to Palaeontinidae of Homoptera and compared with genus Pseudocossus. A key to species of Papilioncossus gen. nov. is provided. All type specimens are deposited in the Capital Normal University.     

Ubiquitous data computing and information using in a smart factory with wireless manufacturing

This study proposesan over all framework for applying wireless manufacturing(WM)technologies in a smart factory and establishes a smart factory data computing and information using system (dc-IUS). Several plug-and-play (PnP) application modules of the dc-IUS are presented in the fields of machining process and quality control,material flow and inventory control,and factory resource tracking. Different schemes are discussed about how and where to apply these functions. Then some running examples are studied to demonstrate the feasibility and reliability of dc-IUS. At last,the challenges of applying WM are discussed and a conclusion is given.

Recent advances in the study of Mesozoic-Cenozoic petrified wood from Thailand

Mesozoic to Cenozoic petrified woods are very rich and well preserved in the Khorat Plateau, Northeast Thailand, serving as remarkable material for investigations of tropical vegetation history, paleoclimatic evolution, and paleoenvironmental changes. Our recent field survey and investigations have defined about 50 species of fossil wood assigned to 19 genera and 11 families from Mesozoic to Cenozoic deposits in this region. These woods are ascribed to two groups, gymnosperms and angiosperms. Among them, about 20 species assigned to 7 genera and 5 families are the first reports of the taxa in Thailand. The fossil wood floras indicate that during the late Mesozoic period, the tropical conifer vegetation in Northeast Thailand was dominated by the family Araucariaceae. From the Miocene to Pleistocene, a tropical climate prevailed in this region with perhaps both deciduous and evergreen broadleaf forests comprising the vegetation.     

Global asymptotic stability of cellular neural networks with multiple delays

Global asymptotic stability (GAS) is discussed for cellular neural networks (CNN) with multiple time delays. Several criteria are proposed to ascertain the uniqueness and global asymptotic stability of the equilibrium point for the CNN with delays. These criteria can eliminate the difference between the neuronal excitatory and inhibitory effects. Two examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the criteria.     

An Adaptive Boundary Collocation Method for Plate Bending Problems

A boundary collocation method based on the least-square technique and a corresponding adaptive computation process have been developed for the plate bending problem. The trial functions are constructed using a series of the biharmonic polynomials, and the local error indicators are given by the residu- als of the energy density on the boundary. In comparison with the conventional collocation methods, the solution accuracy in the present method can be improved in an economical and efficient way. In order to dem- onstrate the efficiency and advantages of the adaptive boundary collocation method proposed in this paper, two numerical examples are presented for circular plates subjected to uniform loads and restrained by mixed boundary conditions. The numerical results for the examples show good agreement with ones presented in the literature.     

Fuzzy Multiple Attribute Decision Making for Evaluating Aggregate Risk in Green Manufacturing

Industrial risk and the diversification of risk types both increase with industrial development. Many uncertain factors and high risk are inherent in the implementation of new green manufacturing methods. Because of the shortage of successful examples and complete and certain knowledge, decision-making methods using probabilities to represent risk, which need many examples, cannot be used to evaluate risk in the implementation of green manufacturing projects. Therefore, a fuzzy multiple attribute decision-making （FMADM） method was developed with a three-level hierarchical decision-making model to evaluate the aggregate risk for green manufacturing projects. A case study shows that the hierarchical decision-making model of the aggregate risk and the FMADM method effectively reflect the characteristics of the risk in green manufacturing projects.     

On Impact of Cultural Differences upon the English-Chinese Advertising Translation

This thesis aims to exhibit deep-rooted origins of cultural differences and their influences on advertising translation. The definition of the advertising and the importance of the advertising translation will be introduced. And then, five aspects of cultural differences and their influences upon English-Chinese advertising translation are fully discussed with the help of relevant examples of English and Chinese advertisements. There are different values, different patterns of thinking, social norms of the society, different cultural connotations of the same word and different national aesthetic psychology.     

Arbuscular mycorrhizal associations in the Gurbantunggut Desert

The plants in the Gurbantunggut Desert located in Xinjiang, China are drought adapted species and grow in generally nutrient-poor soils. A survey was conducted in the desert to determine the arbuscular mycorrhizal （AM） status associated with the desert plants which belong to 23 species from 11 families of annuals and perennials. Roots from all plants were examined for the presence of internal and external hyphae, vesicles and coils/arbuscules to determine the status and extent of mycorrhizal colonization. Of the plant species surveyed, 14 （61%） were found to form AM associations, 5 （22%） were possible AM colonized species, and 4 were non-mycorrhizal plants. The proportions of annuals and shrubs forming AM were significantly lower than those of perennials and herbs, respectively. Spore density varied from 5 to 21 per 20 g in soil of root zone. 14 AM fungal taxa in 3 genera were isolated and identified, 10 of which belonged to Glomus, 3 to Acaulospora, and 1 to Archaeospora. Glomus was the dominant genus in all genera identified. G. deserticola and G. etunicatum were the most common taxa isolated, with occurrence frequencies of 77.4% and 74.8%, and relative abundances of 14.4% and 15.5% respectively.     

Visualization aided system of hydropower engineering management

For the purpose of realizing the information visualization of hydropower engineering management,we constructed three kinds of graphics models sorted by hierarchy for system modelling,employed the construction simulation system to simulate the real-time construction behaviours,introduced the graphics rendering system to organize and update the virtual scene,and designed the interaction system to respond to the user-initiated and simulation-initiated events.So,the real-time,interactive visualization aided system of hydropower engineering management is developed.Eventually,the effectiveness and capabilities of the system are showed through the application examples in China.     

Using multi-class queuing network to solve performance models of e-business sites

Due to e-business‘ s variety of customers with different navigational patterns and demands, multiclass queuing network is a natural performance model for it. The open multi-class queuing network(QN) models are based on the assumption that no service center is saturated as a result of the combined loads of all the classes. Several formulas are used to calculate performance measures, including throughput, residence time, queue length, response time and the average number of requests. The solution technique of closed multi-class QN models is an approximate mean value analysis algorithm (MVA) based on three key equations, because the exact algorithm needs huge time and space requirement. As mixed multi-class QN models, include some open and some closed classes, the open classes should be eliminated to create a closed multi-class QN so that the closed model algorithm can be applied. Some corresponding examples are given to show how to apply the algorithms mentioned in this article. These examples indicate that multi-class QN is a reasonably accurate model of e-business and can be solved efficiently.     

Mechanisms of inherited cancer susceptibility

A small proportion of many cancers are due to inherited mutations in genes, which result in a high risk to the individual of developing specific cancers. There are several classes of genes that may be involved： tumour suppressor genes, oncogenes, genes encoding proteins involved in DNA repair and cell cycle control, and genes involved in stimulating the angiogenic pathway. Alterations in susceptibility to cancer may also be due to variations in genes involved in carcinogen metabolism. This review discusses examples of some of these genes and the associated clinical conditions caused by the inheritance of mutations in such genes.
