Summary Same circadian difference in the specific activities of sucrase and maltase was observed in the purified brush border fraction as in the crude homogenate of the mucosa of rat small intestine, suggesting that the disaccharidase rhythm is not due to the mitosis rhythm of epithelial cells.  相似文献

Summary D. pseudoobscura oviposits mostly during the day with some oviposition at night. Oviposition varies from tight clustering to loose scattering from different individuals. Daily oviposition ranges from good to poor to no eggs over 24 h. Althoug this species was an excellent model for the eclosion rhythm it does not serve as a good model for continued study of the oviposition rhythm under present experimental conditions.I thank C.S. We examined levels of melatonin in the pineal, eyes and plasma over a 24 h period during development in the altricial zebra finch. Beginning as early as 2 days after hatching there was a distinct 24 h rhythm in melatonin in the pineal and plasma. Beginning at day seven after hatching there was also a 24 h rhythm present in the eyes. In the pineal and eyes the amplitude of the 24 h rhythm increased with age. In contrast, the amplitude of the plasma melatonin rhythm at 2 days was already within the range of adults and did not increase with age. These results confirm and expand earlier findings in the European starling and parallel those from precocial birds indicating that the circadian system is already competent at or shortly after hatching even in atricial birds.  相似文献

Summary Individually-housedDrosophila melanogaster show a gradual bimodal rise in egg production with a major crest shortly after dusk. The crest drifts toward noon after 2 to 3 days. The circadian rhythm of plasma corticosterone was studied in growing Rats fed on an ad libitum or controlled feeding schedule (six meals per day). Circadian plasma corticosterone rhythm was conventional in ad libitum Rats. Increases of circulating hormone occurred during the last light hours and the first dark hours. Plasma corticosterone rhythm was modified by controlled feeding. Meal feeders exhibited a high value during the last light hours and a secondary hump at midnight. Feeding schedule was not the main synchronizing factor in rat circadian corticosterone rhythm.  相似文献

In the badger a seasonal sexual rhythm of the plasma testosterone is observed. There is also a nycthemeral rhythm of the testosterone secretion; during the regressed period of the testis this rhythm is bimodal with testosterone peaks during the light phase of the day; during the active period and "activity rhythm" with many transitorys peaks during the dark phase is added.  相似文献

In the rat, an ontogenetic study of theta rhythm during paradoxical sleep shows a clear evolution between the 14th and the 30th postnatal day. During this period, its mean frequency increases from 5 to 7 cycles per second, and its spectrum shows significant changes. These parameters (mean frequency and spectral components) of the theta rhythm could be a useful index of brain maturation in the rat.  相似文献

Long-term recordings of the free-running circadian activity rhythm in common marmosets, Callithrix j. jacchus, living under constant environmental conditions (LL 200-470 lx) provided evidence of rhythm splitting in nonhuman primates. In two out of ten test animals two different types of splitting occurred; spontaneous persistent splitting and temporary splitting. Neither a reduction of the illumination intensity nor the application of dark pulses had any effect on the two activity components of the persistently split rhythm.  相似文献

Summary A phase response curve was obtained for the locomotor activity rhythm of the rat,Mus norvegicus albicus, by interrupting a free-running rhythm with light signals of short duration. The response curve obtained was continuous and had the switch-over point at the position of 2 h before the acrophase, followed by the portion of advancing phase shift. Summary The crab (Oziotelphusa) displays a diurnal rhythm of acetylcholinesterase activity, with maximal activity around midnight, alternating with minimal activity at noon. Summary Pineal N-acetyltransferase activity in the male Syrian hamster exhibited a daily rhythm; the maximal night-time value was 3.5-fold higher than the day-time value. When hamsters were exposed to light at night N-acetyltransferase declined within 30 min to 1/5 of its former activity. Electrolytic lesions of the dorsolateral pontine tegmentum aimed at the locus coeruleus (LC) were performed bilaterally in 13 chronically implanted Rats. Following lesions, transient alterations of characteristic components of theta rhythm appeared. No shortening of duration of paradoxical sleep (PS) was observed. These results do not support the hypothesis that neurons of LC are directly involved in the production of theta rhythm during PS; moreover they seem not to be necessary to the normal appearance of this state of sleep.  相似文献
