Hashish VI1: Conversion of (-)-Δ 1(6)-Tetrahydrocannabinol to (-)-Δ 1(7)-Tetrahydrocannabinol. Stability of (-)-Δ 1 and (-)-Δ 1(6)-Tetrahydrocannabinols

Zusammenfassung Die Synthese von (—)-¹⁽⁷⁾-Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) auf (—)-¹⁽⁶⁾ wird beschrieben. Das Hauptprodukt der oxidativen Zerstörung von (—)-¹-THC ist Cannabinol. Beschleunigte Versuche der Luftoxidation von (—)-¹-THC und (—)-¹⁽⁶⁾-THC haben gezeigt, dass das letztere beständiger ist. Dieser Unterschied kann mit der Reaktivität des C₃-benzylisch-allylischen Wasserstoffes in (—)-¹-THC erklärt werden.     

Linear regression forecasting in the presence of ar(1) disturbances

This paper is concerned with time-series forecasting based on the linear regression model in the presence of AR(1) disturbances. The standard approach is to estimate the AR(1) parameter, ρ, and then construct forecasts assuming the estimated value is the true value. We introduce a new approach which can be viewed as a weighted average of predictions assuming different values of ρ. The weights are proportional to the marginal likelihood of ρ. A Monte Carlo experiment was conducted to compare the new method with five more conventional predictors. Its results suggest that the new approach has a distinct edge over existing procedures.     

Histochemical and cytochemical observations on the acetylcholinesterase (AChE) localization in the superior cervical ganglion (SCG) after preganglionic sympathectomy of the neonatal rat

Summary Results of histochemical and cytochemical reactions show that after the section of preganglionic nerve trunk performed in newborn animals, the appearance and the individual increase in AChE activity in non-innervated nerve cells follow the pattern of normally innervated ganglion cell.

(-)-(R)-1-O-Geranylgeranylglycerol from the brown alga Dilophus fasciola

Summary A novel ether lipid, (-)-(R)-1-O-geranylgeranylglycerol (1), has been isolated from the brown alga Dilophus fasciola and its structure proved by spectroscopic methods and chemical degradation.This work was supported by CNR, Rome, Italy.     

Effect of acute administration of delta 1-tetrahydrocannabinol on beta-endorphin levels in plasma and brain tissue of the rat

Acute treatment with delta 1-tetrahydrocannabinol (delta 1-THC) elevated the concentration of beta-endorphin-like immunoreactivity (beta-ELIR) in plasma and in the hypothalamus, but not in the hippocampus of rats habituated to the injection procedure. These effects were not obtained with the psychotropically inert analog of delta 1-THC, cannabidiol. In animals that had not been habituated to the injection procedure, placebo treatment induced a decrease in hippocampal beta-ELIR.     

Effect of imazalil (1-(2-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)-2-(2-propenyloxy) ethyl)-1H-imidazole) on biosynthesis of ergosterol in Penicillium expansum Link]

Imazalil is a new fungicide effective against Penicillium molds on fruits after harvest. This compound inhibits ergosterol biosynthesis in mycelia of Penicillium expansum. The accumulation of 24--methylenedithydrolanosterol, obtusifoliol and 14 alpha-methyl-delta 8, 24(28)-ergostadienol in treated fungi suggests that imazalil blocks sterol C--14 demethylation.     

The efficacy of a novel compound, (E)-1-(4′-bromo-4-biphenylyl)-1-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-dimethylaminoprop-1-ene againstTrypanosoma cruzi in mice

Summary The biological properties of a novel compound 353C with high activity againstTrypanosoma cruzi, are described. The compound was about 10 times and 20 times more effective than either benznidazole or nifurtimox respectively, in producing radical cure in mice. 353C had a long half-life and showed anti-trypanosomal properties when given to mice at weekly intervals.

D(-)Lactic acid—a physiological isomer in the rat

Summary D(-)Lactate is produced in significant amounts together with L(+)lactate in the stomach of normal experimental rats. It is absorbed into the blood and constitutes a physiological isomer in this animal species.     

Kinetic characterization of acetylcholinesterase of muscle and rat brain

Résumé La présente étude a rélévé chez le rat des différences entre l'AChE du cerveau et celle du muscle, en ce qui concerne les pH optima, la température d'inactivation, le Km, les courbes de saturation et la réponse aux inhibiteurs. L'existence de sites allostériques différents dans l'enzyme des deux organes a aussi été observée. L'auteur suggère que ces propriétés cinétiques distinctes tiennent, en partie du moins, à des différences histophysiologiques entre les synapses de ces deux tissus.     

Activation with (+/-)N-n-propyl-nor-apomorphine (NPA) of the male rat copulatory behavior

I.p. (+/-)N-n-propyl-nor-apomorphine HCl (NPA) influences copulatory behavior of vigorous adult male rats in the same ways as apomorphine, i.e., it reduces the latency to ejaculation as well as mount and intromission frequency. Furthermore, NPA administered to impotent male rats restores normal mating behavior in some of them.     

Antihypertensive agents III. Synthesis and antihypertensive activity of 3-[4-(p-fluoro-phenyl)-1,2,3,6-tetrahydro-1-pyridyl]-1-[1-(2-hydroxyethyl)-5-methyl-4-pyrazolyl]-1-propanone

Zusammenfassung 3-[4-(p-Fluorphenyl)-1,2,3,6-te-trahydro-1-pyridyl]-1-[1-(2-hydroxyaethyl)-5-methyl-4-pyrazolyl]-1-propanon (I, CIBA 4416/B-Go) senkt bei normotonischen und hypertonischen Tieren den Blutdruck. Die Drucksenkung kann hauptsächlich auf die periphere Vasodilatation sowie auf die Vasomotorenzentren bezogen werden. Ausserdem wirkt CIBA 4416/B-Go adrenolytisch.

Zusammenfassung 1-(5-Methyl-1-phenyl-4-pyrazolyl)-3-[4-(o-tolyl)-piperazinyl]-1-propanone (I; CIBA 1002-Go), senkt an normotonischen und hypertonischen Tieren den Blutdruck. Die Drucksenkung kann auf eine periphere Vasodilatation und eine Hemmung hypothalamischer oder medullärer Vasomotorenzentren bezogen werden. Ausserdem wirkt CIBA 1002-Go adrenolytisch.
