The effect of treatment with parasympatholytics on the weight of the submaxillary gland of rats

Zusammenfassung Parasympathische chirurgische Denervierung führt zur Gewichtsabnahme der Speicheldrüsen; die Submaxillarisdrüse der Ratte zeigt eine Atrophie nach Behandlung mit parasympatholytischen Substanzen (Atropin oder Hoechst 9980).     

The effect of thyroid gland on 5-Hydroxy-tryptamine (5-HT) level of brain stem and blood in rabbits

Zusammenfassung An Kaninchen wurde die Wirkung von Schilddrüsenfütterung und Thyreoidektomie auf das 5-HT-Niveau im Hirnstamm und Blut untersucht. In hyperthyreotischem Zustand ist der 5-HT-Spiegel im Blut und im Hirnstamm erhöht, bei Athyreose ist er verringert. Der Schilddrüseneffekt wird in der Veränderung des Tryptophan- Stoffwechsels über das zentrale Nerven-system gesehen.     

Effect of brain lesions on hypothalamic noradrenalin in rats

Résumé Des lésions bilaterales, localisées par stéréotaxie dans la région de l'hippocampe chez le Rat, produisent au bout de 20 jours une diminution significative de la concentration en noradrénaline de l'hypothalamus. Si les rats sont sacrifiés 10 jours seulement après la lésion, il n'y a pas de modifications dans cette concentration. Le contenu en noradrénaline de l'hypothalamus est légèrement réduit par des lésions thalamiques, mais n'est pas modifié par des lésions faites au niveau du cortex cérébral, de l'amygdala, de l'habénula, du corpus callosum, et du bulbe olfactif.

The effect of melatonin on the formation of gastric stress lesions in rats

Summary Prior melatonin administration (1,5 and 10 mg/kg b. wt) causes a significant reduction in gastric ulceration induced in male rats by restraint immobilization in the presence of low temperatures.     

Effect of chlorpromazine on the testicular physiology in rats

Zusammenfassung Die Wirkung von Chlorpromazin auf die Hodenfunktion der Ratte wurde untersucht und dabei gefunden, dass Chlorpromazin eine Degeneration des Rattenhodens verursacht.     

Further contribution to the effect of diazoxide on the thyroid gland in rats

Zusammenfassung Mit der⁸⁶Rb-Methode wird nach i.v. Applikation von 5 mg Diazoxid die Schilddrüsendurchblutung bei der Ratte untersucht: Eine Verminderung der Durchblutung erreicht nach 30 min 65% der Ausgangswerte, wodurch die früher festgestellte diazoxidinduzierte Hemmung der Radiojodspeicherung erklärt werden kann.     

The response of the adrenal gland to hypoglycaemia in the conscious calf

Résumé La sécrétion de glucocorticoides et de catécholamines par la glande surrénale droite fut observée chez des veaux conscients après une injection d'insuline. L'accroissement de la production de stéroides fut passagère malgré une hypoglycémie ininterrompue.

Dopamine-beta-hydroxylase activity in adrenal gland and spleen of rats after fasting and cold exposure

Fasting (48 h) results in dopamine-beta-hydroxylase (DBH) release both in adrenal gland and spleen, suggestive of an increase in the activity of these organs. Cold exposure (48 h) produces a dissociation of the sympathoadrenal response. When both stimuli are simultaneously employed, the DBH response suggests the preponderance of the response to fasting. Plasma DBH is decreased in all groups studied, this could be due to its half-life and the splenic DBH depletion.

The effect of denervation on ATP dependent calcium uptake by microsomes of the submaxillary gland of rats

Zusammenfassung Nachweis, dass in einer Mikrosomen-Fraktion von Speicheldrüsen ein ATP-abhängiges Calciumtransportsystem existiert und dass dieses von der sympathischen Innervierung der Drüsen, nicht jedoch von der parasympathischen Innervierung abhängig ist.

The effect of acetylcholine on adrenal function in the hypophysectomized dog

Résumé Après injection d'acétylcholine, les chiens hypophysectomisés ne secrètent pas d'hydrocortisone, mais présentent une élevation d'épinéphrine et de norépinéphrine dans le sang veineux surrénal. Aucun changement ne fut observé dans la concentration de la phényléthanolamine-N-methyl transférase dans ces glandes. Ces expériences indiquent que la relation médullaire surrénale corticale que nous avons mentionée précédemment fonctionne indépendamment de la secrétion de catécholamines, engendrée par l'Ach, de la glande surrénale.
