Recent discoveries in Africa, in Asia and in Europe of new fossils attributed to the Ramapithecinae and/or to the Australopithecinae seem to point out the monocuspid origin of Man's first lower premolar the bicuspidy of the Gigantopithecidae, the Oreopithecidae' and the Hominidae' first lower premolar, reached at different geological ages, give an example of parallel evolution.     

Functional study of cultured bone cells]

Osseous cells in culture synthesize and excrete glycosaminoglycans, collagen and alkaline phosphatases, revealed by the classical histochemical reactions. Observation of the living cells iwth the polarizing microscope, after a five day-culture, reveals the presence of micro-crystals of mineral salts only at the level of cells and cellular groupings.

After absorption with adult Chicken liver homogenate, antisera produced in Rabbits against the DOC-soluble fractions of the sediments obtained after centrifugation of adult Chicken kidney homogenates, react with at least two types of antigens. One, found to be kidney-specific, is localised at the apical part of the cells of the proximal segment of the secretory tubules. The other, also present in the digestive tract, is detectable in the ureter and its derivatives, the collecting tubules by which it seems to be excreted. Despite the lack of organ specificity the latter represents an interesting marker for studying the early steps of the development of the renal collecting system.

We describe the induction of neuroblastoma morphological differentiation by 1 methyl cyclohexane carboxylic acid (CCA) and by some C1 derivatives of CCA. This induction proceeds in a medium which allows, in the absence of inducer, a normal growth of neuroblastoma cells and contains 7.5% fetal Calf serum. In order to establish a clear-dose response relationship and to compare the relative potencies of different drugs, the morphological changes were assessed by examining "long neurite-bearing cells".     

Pharmacological study of para-aminoclonidine, an alpha sympathomimetic]

Para-aminoclonidine is a more potent alpha-adrenergic agent than clonidine; in vitro on Rat aorta it is 150 times more active than NE, in vivo on pithed Rat it is still twice as active. The hypotensive action of paraaminoclondine is only manifested when given intraventricularly. In the conscious Rat, it has a diuretic action when given per os. Following IV injection in the anaesthetized Dog, the para-aminoclonidine induces an essentially hydric diuresis which is independet of its hypertensive action.     

Comparative study of cysteine peptides of monomers and polymers of IgA]

The cysteinyl peptides of monomeric and polymeric IgA were studied by comparative autoradiography. Autoradiographies of polymeric IgA (containing or lacking J chain) showed an extra cysteinyl peptide which was never found in the monomeric forms. A similar peptide was obtained when reduced IgA was cleaved by BrCN. The possible identity of this fragment is discussed.

5'-nucleotidase activity of cultured diplo?d cells was measured using intact suspended cells. This depended on the substrate amount, but did not vary with Mg ++ concentration-Kinetic data were determined using Con. A,a specific inhibitor.     

New scanning electron microscopy contribution to the study of yeast protoplasts]

Study by scanning electron microscopy enables us to describe with precision the morphology of protoplasts. We can confirm that the wrinkles more or less perceptible on the protoplasts studied, do belong to the morphology of those just mentioned, that the presence or the absence of globulous component is connected with the physiological activity of the cell and that it is possible to distinguish the different protoplasts thanks to their morphological aspect.

植物在其生长发育的各个阶段的生长行为及生活史策略皆与植物的形态可塑性有很大关系,可在一定程度上决定植物物种在生境中的分布格局及种群行为.植物生活史对策是植物物种维持生长和繁殖的资源最佳分配方式,物种的适应性是物种在进化过程中累积起来的,在形态上有很明显的表现,植物采取不同的形态生长策略就是为了使物种在某些阶段达到最大的适合度.已有的植物形态生长对策研究主要集中在植物繁殖体形态、幼苗形态策略、生长可塑性以及繁殖策略等方面,植物各阶段形态生长策略的权衡以及与植物在群落中的分布关系被认为是今后该方面研究的重要方面.     

Toxicokinetic study of vanadium after intramuscular and intratracheal administration to rats]

The toxicokinetic study, made in the rat with 48V under VOCl2, shows that vanadium does not accumulate in the system. 66% of the radioactivity is found in urines 24 hrs. after the inoculation by intramuscular method. After intratracheal deposit, a part of the vanadium is eliminated very rapidly. The other which is lower is fixed on the pulmonary tissues.     

Morphological and biochemical effects of ethylene on Tulips

Summary Tulip bulbs treated with ethylene at various concentrations, at different stages of development and during various lengths of time, exhibited various morphological abnormalities: open bud, stamen blasting, abnormal number of floral parts, increased number of second-year bulbs. These morphological changes were paralleled by rapid variations in the contents of proteins and RNAs, and a slow, yet noticeable, increase of the DNA content of flower buds.     

Morphological aspects of chemically stimulated bovine chromaffin cells

Summary Isolated bovine chromaffin cells were chemically stimulated. The resulting appearance of local changes in membrane structure were compared with the integration of granular proteins into the cell membrane as seen after binding of fluorescence labeled anti-dopamine--hydroxylase. Protuberances of the cell membrane which can be perceived by Nomarski contrast optics are largely congruent with local tracer accumulations at the cell surface.

Riassunto Gli Autori hanno effettuato uno studio sperimentale sulle alterazioni strutturali provocate dalla manovra bioptica nel tubulo seminifero di ratto. Il principale artefatto è la desquamazione di cellule germinali nel lume tubulare. Analoghi reperti presenti nel testicolo umano e considerati indicativi di condizioni patologiche possono pertanto essere artefatti secondari alla manovra bioptica.     

Production of monoclonal anti-Schistosoma mansoni antibodies. Preliminary study of their biological activities]

Monoclonal antibodies against Schistosoma mansoni have been produced by fusion of splenic lymphocytes from S. mansoni infected Rats and P3-X63-Ag8 BALB/c cells. In vitro and in vivo studies of the biological activities of these antibodies have led to the identification of IgE antibodies with a high reaginic activity and antibodies which in a complement dependent or eosinophil dependent system were shown to have a marked cytotoxicity for schistosomula in vitro. This methodology seems to open new perspectives for the study of antibody function in immunity against parasites as well as for the isolation of the corresponding target antigens.

节理的表面形貌特征对节理的力学和水力学性质有重要影响.在地下岩石工程施工过程中,会有大量的人工节理产生,为了研究人工节理表面的形貌特征,采用巴西劈裂法制作耦合良好的人工节理,用 TalysurfCLI2000三维非接触式激光形貌仪扫描各节理的两表面,分别计算了各表面粗糙度的最大峰高、算术平均值、偏态系数值、峰态系数值和 JRC值,对比分析耦合节理两表面的形貌参数值,发现如下规律:1)耦合节理两表面的最大峰高、表面高度的算术平均值和高度分布的峰态系数值近似相等,不同节理的算术平均值和高度分布的峰态系数值相差较大;2)大部分耦合节理两表面高度分布的偏态系数值表现出一正一负,个别节理两表面的偏态系数值同为负;3)耦合节理两表面的峰点分布曲线变化一致,且峰点数量集中分布在节理表面中间高度范围内;4)耦合节理两表面的 JRC值近似相等     

Morphological duality of the retinal pattern in flies.

In compound eyes of flies, a morphological duality of the retinal structure has been found. The retinal patterns based on this property and their possible evolutionary trends are described.
