Summary Probenecid increases plasma ketamine levels in mice concurrently with an enhancement of duration of loss of righting reflex. The magnitude of these changes is directly related to the dose of ketamine and intervals between administration of compounds. Plasma levels of anesthetic are similar for all animals upon termination of hypnosis.  相似文献

Studies were conducted to determine the cardiovascular responses to leucine-enkephalin (L-enk) in three different species of animals; rabbit, dog and monkey. All animals were anesthetized with pentobarbital sodium after sedation with ketamine. Mean blood pressure (MBP) and heart rate (HR) were simultaneously monitored. The pressor and HR responses to bilateral carotid occlusion (BCO) were determined before injection of L-enk. Increased MBP and HR due to BCO in monkey were significantly greater than in the other two animal groups. Following i.v. injection of L-enk (5-30 micrograms/kg), a significant fall in MBP occurred in all groups in a dose-dependent manner; however, the time course of changes in MBP in rabbits was significantly shorter than that in the other animal groups. Significant decreases in HR after the injection of L-enk occurred in rabbits and dogs, whereas increases in HR occurred in monkeys. These results show that some cardiovascular responses to L-enk may be species dependent. These different cardiovascular responses to L-enk may be at least partly related to species differences in baroreceptor reflex sensitivity.  相似文献

The occurrence and levels of phytoecdysteroids in the seeds and other parts of plants grown from the seeds of 180 randomly selected plant species were assessed and compared. Ecdysteroids are frequently detectable in leaves and flowers, but less so in stems, roots and seeds. The seeds of 290 species were assessed for the presence of hydrolysable ecdysteroid conjugates. Low levels of conjugates were detected in a significant number of species, large amounts being present only when levels of free ecdysteroids were high. Individual plants of Arabidopsis thaliana were assessed for the presence of phytoecdysteroids. While plants of this species are generally ecdysteroid negative, individual plants in the population accumulate low levels of ecdysteroids. Extracts of seeds of 50 "ecdysteroid-negative" species were concentrated and partially purified to determine if they possess ecdysteroids at levels below the usual detection levels. Ecdysteroids were detectable by radioimmunoassay in almost all of these concentrated samples. Thus, all lines of evidence point to the conclusion that all species of plants have the capacity to produce at least low levels of phytoecdysteroids. This has important implications for the protection of crop species through enhancing ecdysteroid levels by breeding/genetic modification strategies. Here we examine differentiation of the intestinal cell line Caco-2 following exposure to sodium butyrate (NaBT), using alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) levels as markers of differentiation. We show that acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity and RNA levels increase during differentiation. Treatment with AChE inhibitors or knockdown of AChE levels by shRNA markedly decrease ALP and CEA levels in a concentration- and time-dependent manner. Finally, our observations suggest that NaBT-induced differentiation of intestinal cells involves AChE-induced cell cycle arrest.  相似文献

The iron-deficient animals had lowered hemoglobin and hematocrit levels and higher levels of kidney lysozyme activity than did control animals. Patients with iron deficiency whether uncomplicated or associated with other types of anemias, had plasma catecholamine levels which were significantly increased above normal controls. Patients with a variety of other anemias had no significant increase in catecholamine levels. Periodate oxidation of human peripheral blood lymphocytes followed by reduction with 3H labelled sodium borohydride and acidic hydrolysis generates N-AN 7, glycerol and propane 1-2 diol. This indicates that sialyl, fucosyl and probably galactosyl residues are oxidized by periodate. Neuraminidase-treated lymphocytes exhibit decreased N-AN 7 levels, increased N-AN 8 levels and increased glycerol levels. Such results were neither found with mouse splenocytes nor with calf lymph node cells.  相似文献

Summary Cortical glycogen levels decreased after both 1 and 3 h of unilateral ischemia. After 1 h of recirculation, the levels of glycogen were restored to control values in both groups. Subsequently, glycogen increased above normal levels after 1 week of recirculation in the 1 h ischemic groups, and after 5 h in the 3 h ischemic group. Thus, the onset of the excess glycogen accumulation appears to be dependent on the intensity of the ischemic insult.  相似文献

Summary Plasma hexosamine levels were elevated in lines of diabetic Chinese hamsters when compared to nondiabetics. Summary Orally administered ethanol produced dose-related suppression of IRI levels and elevation of IRG levels in fed and fasting rats.
