Adenyl cyclase activity at different environmental temperatures in the isolated rat anterior pituitary membranes.

The effect of different environmental temperatures on adenyl cyclase was studied. An increase in temperature appears to increase TRH-induced activity of adenyl cyclase, and possible causes an increases sensitivity to the hormone. Cyclic AMP levels of the pituitaries showed change at different environmental temperatures.     

Adenyl cyclase activity of mouse liver membranes after incubation with endotoxin and epinephrine

Summary Adenyl cyclase activity in isolated mouse liver cell membranes was stimulated two-fold by endotoxin. Furthermore, endotoxin inhibited epinephrine induction of adenyl cyclase activity, apparently through interruption of the phospholipid moiety of the enzyme complex.

Adenyl cyclase activity in non-nucleated red blood cells: Evidence for its localization in the reticulocytes

Zusammenfassung Die durch Natriumfluorid und Isoproterenol stimulierbare Adenylcyclase-Aktivität in Erythrocyten-Schatten von 30–240 g schweren Ratten ist direkt proportional dem prozentualen Retikulocytengehalt des Blutes. Hinweise darauf, dass die Adenylcyclase-Aktivität kernloser Erythrocyten nahezu ausschliesslich in den Retikulocyten lokalisiert ist, konnten auch an menschlichem Blut erhalten werden.

Endotoxin inhibits the fluoride-stimulated adenylate cyclase activity of rat liver plasma membranes enriched with bile canaliculi

Summary Escherichia coli endotoxin inhibited the fluoride-stimulated adenylate cyclase activity of liver plasma membranes enriched with bile canaliculi. Inhibition was of a mixed competitive and uncompetitive type. This effect, which may result from changes of membrane organization, may have relevance in the understanding of endotoxin-cell membrane interactions.     

Paradoxical effect of quinidine upon coronary flow of the isolated heart at different temperatures

Zusammenfassung Nach Langendorff wird am isolierten Kaninchenherzen gezeigt, dass die Temperatur der Durchströmungsflüssigkeit sowohl an spontan schlagenden wie auch an elektrisch gereizten Herzen bei Kammerflimmern die Koronarienwirkung des Chinidins grundsätzlich abzuändern vermag. Bei 26°C Temperatur wird der Koronardurchfluss durch Chinidin ständig erhöht, während bei 38°C Chinidin die Herzkranzgefässe verengert.     

Inhibition of prostaglandin-induced cyclic AMP accumulation in the rat anterior pituitary by alrestatin

Summary Alrestatin at 25–1×10^–4 M inhibited the accumulation of cyclic AMP induced by prostaglandin E₂, but not theophylline, in the rat anterior pituitary in vitro. Somatostatin, at lower concentrations, inhibited both; maximal inhibition of the prostaglandin effect was greater with alrestatin. As cyclic AMP is considered to be a mediator in induced-hormonal release, it appears from the present findings that alrestatin may be of potential use in altering hormonal release.The author acknowledges the technical assistance of Miss C. Adenyl cyclase activity of the cell membrane throughout the cell cycle: ultrastructural study of the cell line BHK 21/C 13]

Adenylate cyclase activity in the surface membrane of baby Hamster kidney (BHK 21/C13) cells is ultrastructurally studied as a function of the cell cycle. Cells are synchronized by a physical method suited to structural and functional investigations. The activity is highest through G1, decreases in S, markedly drops as cells traverse G2 and is very low or often seems not present at all in M.

Summary Adenylate cyclase activity in rat striatum decreased post mortem. Half-lives were about 2.7 h at 22°C, 72 h at 4°C. Ca2+-ATPase activity in isolated secretory granule membranes

Zusammenfassung Membranen sekretorischer Granula wurden von der Ohrspeicheldrüse (Parotis) der Ratte isoliert und auf Kalzium-ATPase-Aktivität (Ca²⁺-ATPase) untersucht und postuliert, dass die gefundene Ca²⁺-ATPase eine Rolle in der Aufnahme und Abgabe von Kalzium in sekretorischen Granula spielt.
