Kickoff Meeting for A3 Foresight Program held in China

The kickoff meeting and first workshop for the study of Composite Photocatalytic Systems for Efficient Water Splitting by Solar Energy under the A3 Foresight Program was held in Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics(DICP),Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS) on January 10th,2011.Professor Zhang Tao,Director of DICP delivered welcome remarks in the opening ceremony.Professor Zhang Yinglan,Director of Division,Bureau of International Cooperation,National Natural Science Foundation of China introduced the background and funding status of the A3 Foresight Program jointly supported by China,Japan and Korea.Professor Li Can,an academician of CAS gave a report regarding the arrangement of the     

Panel Meeting for A3 Foresight Program 2008 held in Hangzhou

Jointly organized by the Bureau of International Cooperation,Department of Engineering & Material Sciences and Department of Mathematical & Physical Sciences of NSFC,the panel evaluation meeting for A3 Foresight Program for the year 2008 was held in Hangzhou from May 28 to 30,2008.     

Department Director＇s Fund for Earthquake Relief

On May 30, 2008, NSFC Department of Chemical Sciences launched its Director＇s Fund Emergency Program ＂Technologies for the collection and analysis of the bacteria and viruses in the air of earthquake stricken areas＂, which was undertaken by Prof. Zhu Tong and his research group from the Environment and Health Research Center and the College of Environmental Sciences and Engineering of Peking University. Based on the technologies for bio aerosol collection, biological analysis and monitoring, an ambulatory system for biological monitoring and early warning will be set up to monitor the bacteria and viruses spreading in the earthquake stricken areas in Sichuan Province, so as to deliver data and facts for the early warning, prevention and control of possible epidemic situation.     

NSFC and ISF Ready to Launch New Program

The MOU signed between the National Natural Science Foundation of China(NSFC) and the Israel Science Foundation(ISF) on Oct.22,2007 has led to Chinese and Israeli scientists’ fruitful cooperation and exchange activities jointly funded by both funding agencies. The consensus reached recently by NSFC and ISF at the two meetings held respectively in February and May,2012 will take the collaboration into a new stage.Both parties will jointly launch a new cooperation program to encourage their scientists to actively carry out substantial cooperation in research activi-     

NSFC President Attended the 6th Meeting of Heads of Research Councils in Asia

On November 6, 2008, the 6th Meeting of Heads of Research Councils in Asia was held in Jeju, Korea. NSFC President Prof. Chen Yiyu headed a 4-member delegation to attend the meeting. His counterparts, Mr. Hyung Chul Moon, Acting Chairman and CEO of Korea Science and Engineering Foundation （KOSEF） and Prof. Motoyuki Ono, President of Japan Society for Promotion of Science （JSPS） also headed their delegations at their presence. In the meeting, three organizations presented their own latest sci ence and technology policies and had an active discussion on topics of mutual interests.     

NSFC Vice President Heads the Delegation to Finland

A NSFC delegation headed by Prof. LiuCongqiang, NSFC Vice President paid avisit to Finland from May 29 to June 3, 2013 at the invitation of the Academy of Finland （AF）.
