NSFC-CIHR MoU Renewed in Ottawa

<正>The Memorandum of Understanding between the National Natural Science Foundation of China(NSFC) and Canadian Institutes of Health Research(CIHR) on Scientific Cooperation was renewed in Ottawa on October 1,2010.After delivering speeches respectively,NSFC Vice President Shen Yan and CIHR President Alain Beaudet signed the MoU on behalf of the two organizations.Both sides expressed appreciation of the achievements obtained during the past 5 years of bilateral cooperation and mutual commitment to strengthening the bilateral tie in basic medical research.Participants in the signing ceremony also included Drs.Dong Erdan and Yan Zhangcai from the Department of Health Sciences and Profs.Han Jian-     

Vice President Shen Wenqing Meets with NSERC Executive Vice-President

NSFC Vice President,Prof.Shen Wenqing met with Ms.Margaret McCuaig-Johnston,Executive Vice-President of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada(NSERC) on August 9,2012. Prof.Shen extended his welcome to Ms.Margaret McCuaig-Johnston for her visit to NSFC and then gave a brief introduction on NSFC.Speaking of the tie between NSFC and NSERC,Prof.Shen said that the MoU between the two organizations was signed in as early as 1987,with intention to promote exchange     

NSFC and NIH Signed Collaborative MoU in Biomedical Research

<正>NSFC President Chen Yiyu met with Dr.Francis Collins,Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Beijing on October 14,2010 and signed a MoU of cooperation in medical research between the two agencies. Prof.Chen welcomed Dr.Collins' visit to NSFC and pointed out that the recently increasing communication and exchanges between the two agencies have paved a solid foundation for substantial collaboration. Especially since the establishment of NSFC's Department of Health Sciences in 2009,a new platform for effective support to basic research in medical sciences is now in place.Prof.Chen further mentioned that to address diseases threatening the mankind,establishing partnership between the two agencies is an action that conforms to the trend of the times.     

NSFC Vice President Meets with Executive Secretary of CGIAR Fund Council

On June 7, Prof. Shen Yan, NSFC Vice President met with a CGIAR （Consulative Group on Interna- tional Agricultural Research） delegation of two members, headed by Dr. Jonathan Wadsworth, Executive Secretary of CGIAR Fund Council. Dr. Jonathan Wadsworth came to China earlier to attend the China- CGIAR 30th Anniversary Cooperation Workshop at the invitation of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sci- ences.

<正>Prof.Chen Yiyu,President of NSFC met with and held a dinner for a delegation led by Dr.Albert van Jaasveld,President of National Research Foundation of South Africa(NRF) on September 30,2010. On November 11,2008, Professor Shen Yan, Vice President of NSFC met with a CSIR delegation headed by its Director General, Professor S K Brahmachari, who came to China to participate in ＂Academic, Research institution ＆ National Innovation systems symposium＂. They discussed issues of cooperation between two organizations.     

Nine Projects Jointly Funded by NSFC and MRC in 2012

The MOU between NSFC and TRF Signed in Chengdu

On September 15, 2008, Prof. Shen Wenqing, Vice President of NSFC, met with Dr. Piyawat Boon long, Director General of Thailand Research Fund （TRF） in Chengdu, and attended the ceremony of MOU exchanging. This means that the formal cooperative relationship between NSFC and TRF has been established and from now on, both sides will jointly support the cooperation between scientists from the two countries in the fields of natural science.     

The First Sino-Thailand Joint Workshop for Natural Products and Drug Discovery Held in Chengdu

The First Sino-Thailand Joint Workshop for Natural Products and Drug Discovery was successfully held in Chengdu from September 16 to 19, 2008. This is the first workshop jointly organized by NSFC and Thailand Research Fund （TRF） under the MOU between the two funding agencies.
