Summary Meiosis in a plant with 2n=12+2 pseudo-isochromosomes was studied. Summary In the progeny of interchange heterozygotes ofPennisetum typhoides, 2 interchange trisomic plants were obtained. These were selfed over 2 generations and the cytology of the parents, s1 and s2 plants was studied. The types of multiple associations in the s1 and s2 generations differed from those of the parent. A significant decrease in mean chiasma frequency was noted in s1 and s2.Acknowledgment. The author is grateful to Prof. em. J. V. Summary Effect of B-chromosomes on the duration of the mitotic cycle was studied by a colchicine shock method in the root-tip cells of pearl millet (Pennisetum typhoides). 3 B-chromosomes were found to have very little effect, whereas 5 B-chromosomes resulted in an increase of the duration by about 39%.This investigation was financed by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi. 相似文献

Summary Mitotic cell cycle time was estimated from root meristems of tetraploid and related diploid stock (IP 1475) of pearl millet (Pennisetum typhoides). Zusammenfassung Es wird ein durch Gammastrahlen induzierter multipler Chromosomenaustausch durch Translokation beiPennisetum typhoides beschrieben. Mehrfache Bestrahlung erzeugt komplexe Heterozygoten, in welchen bis 10 der 14 Chromosomen am «interchange» beteiligt sind. Höhere Zahlen wurden nicht erhalten, da das gametische Sieb möglicherweise drastischer wirkt, wenn mehr Chromosomen eine Translokation erfahren haben. 入海水沙通量的近期变化是流域与海岸相互作用研究的焦点和核心内客.本文利用滑动平均法、秩次相关检验和线性回归检验等方法,对控制珠江入海水沙通量的博罗、马口和三水三个水文站1956~2000年的水文资料进行分析.结果表明:珠江入海水沙通量在年内呈季节性变化,4~9月份八海流量分配占全年的74.3~88.8%,含沙量占91.7~96%;三站含沙量在20世纪90年代之后均呈下降趋势,与同期流量比较,博罗、马口舍沙量产生突变并呈减少趋势,三水站流量相对同期舍沙量则产生突变并呈增加趋势. 相似文献

Summary Body temperatures and self-assessed mood scales were recorded for 7 weeks or more by male volunteers. Auto-correlations of temperatures from the 21 subjects show evidence of a significant peak at the 20-day-interval. Despite aspirations to substitute animal experimentation with alternative methods and recent progress in the area of non-animal approaches, such as organoïds and organ(s)-on-a-chip technologies, there is no extensive replacement of animal-based research in biomedicine. In this paper, I will analyse this state of affairs with reference to key institutional and socio-epistemic barriers for the development and use of non-animal approaches in the context of biomedical research in Europe. I will argue that there exist several factors that inhibit change in this context. In particular, there is what I call “scientific inertia”, i.e. a certain degree of conservatism in scientific practice regarding the development and use of non-animal approaches to replace animal experimentation. This type of inertia is facilitated by socio-epistemic characteristics of animal-based research in the life sciences and is a key factor in understanding the status quo in biomedical research. The underlying reasons for scientific inertia have not received sufficient attention in the literature to date because the phenomenon transcends traditional disciplinary boundaries in the study of animal experimentation. This paper addresses this issue and seeks to contribute to a better understanding of scientific inertia by using a methodology that looks at the interplay of institutional, epistemic, and regulatory aspects of animal-based research. 相似文献

Summary We noted the earliest morphological changes in the motor endplates 8 weeks after the induction of streptozotocin diabetes in rats. Morphometric measurements showed reduced axonal areas of the lateral plantar and the sicatic nerves in the diabetic rats 28 but not 2 and 8 weeks after the experiment.
