Inhibition of superoxide dismutase by diethyldithiocarbamate or cyanide increases the rate of red blood cells lysis after irradiation in the presence of protoporphyrin IX. Catalase activity, which is decreased during the photohemolytic process, appears to be not essential for the lytic event. No relationship between catalase activity and hemolysis rate was found. Superoxide dismutase appears to prevent only in part catalase inactivation by singlet oxygen.  相似文献

Summary The participation of highly energetic oxygen species in the ATP-induced bioluminescence of a firefly-extract has been investigated. The inhibition of light emission by a variety of specific scavengers suggests that singlet oxygen, superoxide radicals and hydroxyl radicals are important intermediates in the firefly bioluminescence reaction.Acknowledgments. To clarify which active oxygen species play a role in ulcerogenesis, the effects of various scavengers and iron-chelators were studied. As superoxide dismutase and catalase reduced the ulcerogenesis induced by diethyldithiocarbamate, the superoxide radical and hydrogen peroxide were considered to play a pathogenic role in this ulcer model.  相似文献

The present study shows that exogenouslysupplied dexamethasone in organ culture, like endogenous hormones provided by the adult rat (grafting experiments) led to similar qualitative and quantitative results, i.e., a 9-fold stimulation of maltase and a precocious induction of sucrase activity in comparison with anhormonal conditions.Supported by grant CRL 80 70 17 from the INSERM and by the CNRS. In the anaesthetized Rat, the entire population of dorsal horn convergent neurones is differentially affected by a noxious stimulus: while exciting the segmental pool, it strongly inhibits the remaining population. The inhibitory effects, which involve supraspinal mechanisms, are reduced to a great extent in parachlorophenylalanine pretreated animals. The purpose of the present study was to determine the relationship between concentration of Zn, Cu and Fe, and the catalase, glutathione peroxidase and superoxide dismutase activities in the heart and liver of newborn rats whose dams were fed a diet supplemented with caffeine. Heart Zn levels of the 22- and 30-day-old rats of the caffeine group showed a decrease, whereas liver Zn levels showed an increase compared to the control. Cu levels in the liver at day 22 in the caffeine group were less than in the control. Cu- and Zn-containing superoxide dismutase activities showed an increase in the hearts of the caffeine group compared to the control. The activity of catalase and glutathion peroxidase showed no difference in the heart and liver between the groups. The present study suggests the possible involvement of superoxide dismutase enzyme in the impairment of heart formation as a result of chronic caffeine intake in the early growing period.  相似文献

Summary Vinblastine did not affect the basal secretion of enzymes from the rat pancreas, but it potentiates the secretory response to dibutyryl cyclic AMP. This potentiation is confirmed by the observation of numerous pictures of exocytosis at the apical part of the acinar cell. Dibutyryl cyclic GMP by itself, or associated with vinblastine, failed to modify the spontaneous release of enzymes or the secretion induced by dibutyryl cyclic AMP.This work was supported by the Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale (France).  相似文献
