The influence of the experimental conditions on the renal response to angiotensin in the rat

Résumé Les conditions expérimentales déterminent la réponse rénale à l'angiotensine chez le rat. Antérieurement, on a seulement demontré une réponse natriurétique à cette hormone. Cependant, chez les rats chargés chroniquement de sodium, on a demontré que l'angiotensine en doses de 0,00005–0,005µg/kg/min est toujours anti-natriurétique. Après une opération récente, ou sous anesthésie ou en présence d'une déplétion de sodium, l'angiotensine à ces doses, chez les mêmes animaux, est soit sans effet ou même natriurétique.

Résumé La méthode d'Immunoélectroadsorption a permis de déceler la présence d'anticorps contre le virus de Friend, non seulement dans les souches de souris résistantes, mais aussi dans les souches sensibles à ce virus.     

The multifaceted role of periostin in priming the tumor microenvironments for tumor progression

Tumor microenvironment consists of tumor cells, stromal cells, extracellular matrix and a plethora of soluble components. The complex array of interactions between tumor cells and their surrounding tumor microenvironments contribute to the determination of the fate of tumor cells during tumorigenesis and metastasis. Matricellular protein periostin is generally absent in most adult tissues but is highly expressed in tumor microenvironments. Current evidence reveals that periostin plays a critical role in establishing and remodeling tumor microenvironments such as the metastatic niche, cancer stem cell niche, perivascular niche, pre-metastatic niche, fibrotic microenvironment and bone marrow microenvironment. Here, we summarize the current knowledge of the multifaceted role of periostin in the tumor microenvironments.     

alpha-Mercaptopropionyl-glycine influence on the in vitro proliferative response of human lymphocytes.

The effect of alpha-mercaptopropinyl-glycine on the in vitro proliferative response of healthy subjects' lymphocytes was studied. Low doses of the drug enhanced spontaneous lymphocyte blastigenesis but had no effect on the PHA-induced blastic response. With increasing concentrations of alpha-mercaptopropionyl-glycine inhibition of 3H-thymidine incorporation was found in unstimulated as well as in PHA stimulated lymphocytes.

Zusammenfassung Die Wirkung verschiedener Testosterondosen auf die postpuberale Ovulation von Ratten wurde untersucht, wobei an Ovarien der Nachweis gelang, dass der anovulatorische Zustand nach der Pubertät testosteron-dosisabhängig ist.

Suppression of the secondary immune response by specific antibody,when given together with the secondary antigenic stimulus

Summary It is generally believed that antibody-mediated immunosuppression can be only produced in non-primed individuals, and that this applies both to experimental animals and Rh-negative women at risk. However, in this paper it is reported that the additional injection of 0.2 ml of an antiserum to sheep erythrocytes (SE) together with a secondary antigenic stimulus of 10⁸ SE into mice, primarily immunized by a tiny dose of 5×10⁵ SE 28 days before, was capable of producing effective suppression of the secondary immune response.This work was supported by grants from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft.

Understanding of the influence of process parameters on the heat transfer behavior at the metal/die interface in high pressure die casting process

The current paper focuses on the influence of the process parameters on the peak values of the interfacial heat transfer coefficient(IHTC)at metal/die interface during high pressure die casting(HPDC)process.A"step shape"casting and AM50 alloy were used during the experiment.The IHTC was determined by solving the inverse thermal problem based on the measured temperature inside the die.Results show that the initial die surface temperature(IDST,TDI)has a dominant influence while the casting pressure and fast shot velocity have a secondary influence on the IHTC peak values.By curve fitting,it was found that the IHTC peak value(hmax)changes as a function of the IDST in a manner of hmax=e αTγ DI .Such relationship between the IHTC peak value and the IDST can also be found when the casting alloy is ADC12,indicating that this phenomenon is a common characteristic in the HPDC process.     

The influence of the thymus on radiogold clearance

Zusammenfassung Die Radiogoldclearance thymektomierter erwachsener Mäuse ist gegenüber scheinthymektomierten bzw. den Kontrolltieren vermindert. Eine zusätzliche Immundepression durch Ganzkörperbestrahlung mit 350 R führt gegenüber den einzelnen Vergleichsgruppen zu keiner Änderung der Radiogoldclearance. Daraus kann mit aller Vorsicht geschlossen werden, dass der Thymus sowohl die Immunreaktionen als auch die Phagozytosefunktion als übergeordnetes Zentrum steuert. Jedes System scheint aber für sich eine funktionelle Einheit zu bilden.     

The effect of litter rank on the secondary sex ratio

Zusammenfassung Es wird gezeigt, dass sich verschiedene Mäusestämme im sekundären Geschlechterverhältnis unterscheiden. Die Wurffolge beeinflusst zwar die relative Zahl der Geschlechter bei der Geburt, aber dieser Einfluss wechselt mit dem Stamm selber. Der Ausgleich des Unterschieds in späteren Würfen erfolgt durch Weibchenüberschuss. Sowohl erbliche wie nichterbliche Faktoren spielen eine Rolle in der Beeinflussung des Geschlechterverhältnisses.

Zusammenfassung Die i.p. Injektion von 4×10⁶ Schaferythrozyten führt bei Mäusen zu einer auf zellulärer Ebene gerade noch messbaren primären Immunitätsreaktion, während humorale Antikörper nicht nachgewiesen werden können. Die zusätzliche Injektion von abgetöteten Keuchhustenbakterien bewirkt nicht nur eine verstärkte Primärreaktion, sondern sie begründet auch eine gesteigerte anamnestische Reaktion, was mit der vermehrten Bildung von «Gedächtniszellen» erklärt wird.
