Potentiation by crude kallikrein of the myotropic effect of angiotensin I in the isolated rabbit aortic strip.

Crude kallikrein (Padutin), but not pure kallikrein, when preincubated with angiotensin I caused a potentiation of the myotropic effect of decapeptide on the isolated continuously superfused rabbit aortic strip. Addition of converting enzyme inhibitor, SQ 20881, to the medium inhibited this potentiation. The potentiation by crude kallikrein of the myotropic effect of angiotensin I is probably due to the conversion of decapeptide to octapeptide angiotensin II. This study indicates that Padutin is not a pure kallikrein preparation and probably contains a kininase fraction which causes the conversion of angiotensin I.     

Interaction of cocaine with angiotensin and tyramine on the isolated rabbit aortic strips

Zusammenfassung An der isolierten Kaninchenaorta hebt Kokain erst in hoher Konzentration die kontraktile Wirkung von Angiotensin auf. Hingegen wird die Wirkung von Tyramin am selben Präparat in sehr viel niedrigerer Konzentration aufgehoben. Prokain antagonisiert bei gleicher Konzentration die Wirkung der beiden Pharmaka. Die Ergebnisse lassen annehmen, dass eine indirekt sympathomimetische Wirkung von Angiotensin an der isolierten Kaninchenaorta sehr fraglich ist. Ausserdem gibt die gefundene antagonistische Wirkung der verwendeten Lokalanästhetika gegenüber den myotropen Pharmaka den Eindruck, dass dieser Antagonismus unspezifisch ist und nichts mit ihrer lokalanästhetischen Wirkung zu tun hat.     

Potentiation of angiotensin action on smooth muscle by alkaline pH

Zusammenfassung Die Potenzierung der Wirkung von Angiotensin auf das isolierte Meerschweinchen-Ileum wird bewiesen, wenn das Tyrodebad auf pH 9,3 alkalinisiert ist. Diese Potenzierung wird mit Bradykinin, Oxytocin, 5-Hydroxytryptamin und Histamin nicht beobachtet.     

Release of renal kallikrein to the perfusate by isolated rat kidney

Summary The addition of furosemide to the fluid used to perfuse isolated rat kidney increases the kallikrein activity found in the perfusion fluid. The experiments favour the concept that furosemide activates a kallikrein precursor or/and the synthesis and release of kallikrein in the kidneys.     

Inhibition of angiotensin I converting enzyme and kininase in rabbit plasma by bradykinin potentiating peptide B (Pyr-Gly-Leu-Pro-Arg-Pro-Lys-Ile-Pro-Pro)

Zusammenfassung Das Bradykinin-potenzierende Peptid B (Pyr-Gly-Leu-Pro-Pro-Arg-Pro-Lys-Ile-Pro-Pro) verhindert in vitro und in vivo die Aktivität der Plasmakininase und des «converting»-Enzyms.

Further observations of the angiotensin vasopressive effect in rabbits

Résumé On n'a pas pu observer un effet du-TM 10 sur l'action de l'angiotensine chez le lapin. Cela indique probablement que l'angiotensine a directement son effet sur les cellules du récepteur. Après l'élévation de pression produite par les doses plus grandes de l'angiotensine, on a pu remarquer une réduction significative de la pression.

Hyperglycemic effect in the rabbit induced by ACTH4-10

In the rabbit, a single i.v. administration of ACTH4-10 (130 micrograms/kg) induces hyperglycemia. As ACTH4-10 also induces hypocalcemia and inhibits insulin secretion, we suggest that hypocalcemia, inhibition of insulin secretion, and hyperglycemia, are closely related.     

Potentiation of fever,produced by intravenous leucocyte pyrogen,following the injection of paraffin oil in the cerebral ventricles of the unanesthetized rabbit

Zusammenfassung Potenzierung und Verlängerung der Wirkung des i.v. injizierten (Kaninchen) Leukozyten-Pyrogens konnte durch die sterile intraventrikuläre (laterale Ventrikel) Injektion von Paraffinöl ausgelöst werden, dies im Vergleich mit der Wirkung des Pyrogens bei mit Paraffinöl nicht behandelten Tieren. Diese Ergebnisse bringen eine Grundlage für ein besseres Verständnis des pyrogenen Wirkungsmechanismus von Leukozyten-Pyrogen.
