A new antibacterial agent (U-20,661) isolated from a streptomycete strain

Zusammenfassung Ein neues Antibiotikum, U-20661, wurde aus der Kulturflüssigkeit eines Streptomycetenstammes isoliert, welches in vitro nur gegen grampositive Bakterien wirksam ist. Die Substanz ist extrem cytotoxisch in Gewebekulturen, aber ungiftig für Mäuse.     

2,6-Dichlorobenzylidene amino guanidine acetate (Wy-8678). A new hypotensive agent

Zusammenfassung Bei unanästhesierten Ratten und Hunden wurden die antihypertensiven Eigenschaften von 2,6-Dichlorobenzyliden-Aminoguanidin-Azetat (WY 8678), welches zu einer neuen Reihe von aktiven Substanzen gehört, sowie noch einige andere klinisch wirksame Substanzen an zwei experimentellen Modellen für Hypertension geprüft und dabei eine wesentliche Blutdrucksenkung festgestellt.     

A new peptide coupling agent — phosphonitrilic chloride

Zusammenfassung Phosphonitrilchlorid, dessen Verbindung razemisierungsfrei erfolgt, kann als Reagens zur Synthese von Peptiden verwendet werden.     

A new drug against Paragonimus infection

Summary An oral dose of 50–100 mg/kg b.wt of a new anthelmintic, albendozole, for 2–3 weeks killed adult flukes and stopped shedding of ova of Paragonimus kellicotti in experimentally infected cats. No clinical signs related to treatment were recognized. This low toxicity of albendozole may be useful in treating human paragonimiasis.     

The exotoxin ofBacillus thuringiensis: A new C-mitotic agent

Summary Thuringiensin A, an exotoxin fromBacillus thuringiensis, a constituent of the microbial insecticide thuricide has been found to inhibit mitotic spindle, condense and scatter chromosomes. Summary From the spongeHaliclona chilensis (Thiele) a minor keto-sterol was isolated and characterized as 24-keto-cholesta-5,25-dien-3-ol by means of spectroscopic (¹H and¹³C-FT NMR, MS) methods.

Zusammenfassung Ein neues, gegen Bakterien und Pilze wirsames Antibiotikum wurde aus demStreptomyces sp. Ac₆569 in der Form eines amorphen Hydrochlorids isoliert. Die Substanz ist wasserlöslich, aber fast unlöslich in organischen Lösungsmitteln, Schmp. 216–218° (Zersetzung); sie gehört zur Streptothricin-Gruppe der Antibiotika.     

Polyvinylchloride (PVC) particles implantation in mouse liver. A technique for experimental study of schistosome eggs-induced liver pathology

Summary An injection of suspended PVC particles in the caecal vein of mice induces a foreign-body portal granuloma reaction in the liver. Plastic casts of the portal system, after PVC particles implantation, show modifications in the portal bed and are compared with plastic casts obtained in mice infested bySchistosoma mansoni. This technique can be useful to study the cellular dynamics of the portal granuloma and can be a model for schistosomal eggs induced liver pathology.This work was supported by an ATP (INSERM) 18.75.41 and a scholarship from the Société d'Hépatologie Expérimentale.     

A new kind of motility mutant (non-gliding) inChlamydomonas
