Zusammenfassung Es wird eine schnelle, hochempfindliche polarographische Bestimmung von DDT beschrieben und das durch Nitrieren von DDT erhältliche Tetranitroderivat zur Polarographie verwendet.     

Polarographic study of the reaction of pyridoxal with hydroxylamine

Zusammenfassung Es wurde polarographisch die Kinetik der Reaktion des Pyridoxals mit Hydroxylamin verfolgt. Die pH-Abhängigkeit der Geschwindigkeitskonstante der Kondensierung konnte auf Grund verschiedener Reaktivität einzelner dissoziierter Formen des Pyridoxals mit nichtprotonisiertem Hydroxylamin erklärt werden.

Zusammenfassung Kalium erhöht die Bildung von markiertem Noradrenalin aus markiertem Tyrosin im isolierten Vas deferens. Es wird angenommen, dass dieser Effekt auf eine Steigerung der Tyrosin-Hydroxylase zurückzuführen ist.     

Polarographic reduction of isomeric pyridine-aldehydes at the dropping mercury electrode

Zusammenfassung Aus polarographischen Messungen an den isomeren Pyridinaldehyden ergibt sich, dass diese in wässerigen Lösungen in zwei Formen vorliegen, von denen nur eine polarographisch reduzierbar ist. Der Reduktion unterliegt das freie Aldehyd, während die hydratisierte Form inaktiv ist.     

The pharmacological effect of fractions obtained by smoking cannabis through a water-pipe. II. A second fractionation step

Summary The catatonic activity, prolongation of phenobarbital sleeping-time, convulsant action and disruption of nestbuilding activity were assessed in mice subjected to 4 cannabis pyrolysis products and their tobacco analogues. All but one of the cannabis fractions prolonged the pentobarbital sleeping-time and disrupted the nest-building activity of mice in a way not related to their content in the main cannabinoids. Nest-building activity seems to be the most valid assay we have used so far.     

A spectrophotometric method for the determination of 5-phosphoribosyl-1-pyrophosphate

Summary A new, sensitive, specific and simple spectrophotometric method for the determination of 5-phosphoribosyl-1-pyrophosphate (PRPP) is presented. PRPP is reacted with excess hypoxanthine in the presence of hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase. At the end of the reaction, PRPP concentration is measured from the extent of conversion of hypoxanthine to inositate. The concentration of the purine base is determined spectrophotometrically in the presence of xanthine oxidase.     

Multi‐step forecasting in the presence of breaks

This paper analyzes the relative performance of multi‐step AR forecasting methods in the presence of breaks and data revisions. Our Monte Carlo simulations indicate that the type and timing of the break affect the relative accuracy of the methods. The iterated autoregressive method typically produces more accurate point and density forecasts than the alternative multi‐step AR methods in unstable environments, especially if the parameters are subject to small breaks. This result holds regardless of whether data revisions add news or reduce noise. Empirical analysis of real‐time US output and inflation series shows that the alternative multi‐step methods only episodically improve upon the iterated method.
