Résumé Il s'agit de l'étude d'une couche rouge pigmentée formant la surface intérieure de la poche ventrale de l'amphistomeGastrothylax crumenifer (Creplin, 1847). Les expériences de solubilité démontrent la nature non-caroténoide de ce pigment. L'examen spectroscopique et les expériences chimiques prouvent la présence d'une base (haem) dans le pigment.

A visual pigment of the sturgeon retina

The visual pigments of hybrid sturgeon (a cross between Acipenser ruthenus (male) and Huso huso (female) have been studied both by the methods of incomplete partial bleaching and HPLC analysis. On the basis of the results obtained the relationship between the structure of opsins and the spectral characteristics of visual pigments is discussed.     

Histoautoradiographic study of two target organs (epididymis and femoral glands) after injection of 3H testosterone in a non-mammalian vertebrae, the viviparous lizard]

After 3H testosterone injection into castrated males of the Lizard Lacerta vivipara, the radioactive compound is detected by radioautography of epididymis, femoral glands, gut and liver. Between 1 hr. 30 min. to 12 hrs. of retention the 3H material concentrates progressively into nuclei of the glandular cells of epididymis and femoral organs although no particular concentration occurs in gut and liver cells. This submammalian model is consistent with those previously described for mammals.     

CO-binding pigment (P-450) and other electron transport components in hepatoma bearing rats

Zusammenfassung Basierend auf früheren Eiweissuntersuchungen bezüglich einer endoplasmatisch-retikulären Elektronenstromkette ergibt sich: NADPH-Oxydase und Zytochrom-c-Reduktase sind in der normalen Rattenleber wie in der Hepatoma (Typ 7777) tragenden gleich, während die Ferricyanid-Reduktase und P-450 in der Leber der letzteren herabgesetzt waren.     

A specific protein in the genusRhynchosciara (Diptera,Sciaridae)

Summary Proteins immunologically related toRhynchosciara americana larval protein 10 occur in the hemolymph and ovaries of five different fly species of the genusRhynchosciara. Electrophoretic analyses showed these proteins to have a mol.wt similar to that of theR. americana protein 10 (43,000), e.g. theR. hollanderi protein 44,300, theR. milleri protein 45,500.

Summary Riboflavin and isoxanthoptérin are identified as possible constituents of the white pigment chromatophores of the shrimpProcessa robusta. These chromatophores contain 11.76 times more riboflavin than the surrounding tegument.     

A peculiar fatty acid, (Z,Z)-9,12,17-octadecatrienoic acid,identified in the phospholipids of the pea aphid,Acyrthosiphon pisum (Harris) (homoptera: aphididae)

A peculiar fatty acid previously detected in the phospholipids of the pea aphid,Acyrthosiphon pisum, is identified as (Z,Z)-9,12,17-octadecatrienoic acid. It is the first report of this compound in the literature. Comparison of fatty acid profiles of phospholipids between normal and aposymbiotic pea aphids shows that aphid symbionts are not responsible for the biosynthesis of this unusual fatty acid.

Zusammenfassung Aus dem Tegument von Raupen des Kohlweisslings (Pieris brassicae) wird das bereits früher beschriebene Pterobilin isoliert, das auf Grund seiner Abbauprodukte und der chromatographischen und spektralen Eigenschaften als Biliverdin-IX identifiziert wird.

Basic mechanisms of pigment bleaching and loss of structural resistance in spruce (Picea abies) needles: advances in phytomedical diagnostics

Summary Preliminary phytochemical diagnostic data in addition to scanning electron microscopy in spruce (Picea abies) needles from 18 different locations in Upper Bavaria support the following hypothesis: both physiological changes in the photosynthesizing cells and structural changes on the needle surfaces (loss of integrity of the wax layer over the stomatal cavities) are the result of the interaction of biomolecules with photooxidants. Damaged needles lose their resistance towards fungal invaders which finally cause necrotisation and abscission of the needles.
