Summary In X-ray microanalysis of biological tissues, high Cl-peaks are constantly observable. Higher Cl-peaks in the tissue than in the epon environment suggest that most Cl originates from the tissue. Therefore rough regional estimations of the Cl level could be possible.     

Elemental analyses of autoradiographic grains by X-ray microanalysis

Summary Electron probe X-ray microanalysis has revealed that the autoradiographic grains obtained by high resolution electron microscopic autoradiography contain deposits of lead, silicon and chlorine in addition to silver grains. These results suggest the necessity for the confirmation of the autoradiographic grains by ancillary techniques.Acknowledgment. Zusammenfassung Die Verteilung von Natrium, Chlorid, Kalium und Phosphor im Zytoplasma und in den Vakuolen der Blattzellen vonSuaeda-monoica-Pflanzen wurde mittels Röntgen-Mikrosonde untersucht. Natrium neigte zur Anreicherung im Zytoplasma, während Chlorid gleichmässig im Zytoplasma und in Vakuolen verteilt war.     

The histamine and heparin content of the rat's mesenterial mast cells regenerating after application of compound 48/80

Zusammenfassung Der Histamin- und Heparingehalt in Mastzellen, die nach totaler Zerstörung mit Histaminliberator 48/80 regenerieren, wird untersucht. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass während des Regenerationsprozesses die Anzahl der Mastzellen, in denen sich das Histamin mit Reineckesalzlösung anfärbt, kleiner ist, als die Anzahl der Mastzellen, die mit Toluidinblau darzustellen sind.

Summary Metacercariae feeding on the tissues of Mytilus edulis deposit their excretes into the mussel. The clusters of excretes are surrounded by a pearl sac. Increasing amounts of Ca-proteids are transported into the pearl sac epithelium and into the pearl.

Zusammenfassung An gefriergetrockneten Kryostatschnitten der Rattennebennierenrinde wurden anatomisch drei verschiedene Zonen im Hinblick auf die Kaliumablagerung untersucht und festgestellt, dass sich Kalium vor allem in der tiefen Region der Zona glomerulosa ablagert.     

X-ray microanalysis of animal tissues by means of the field emission-scanning electron microscope

Summary With FESEM the X-ray microanalysis of unstained ultrathin sections (600 Å) free of osmium is possible. Deposits in smooth muscle cells of arteriosclerotic aortae show high calcium-peaks already after 80 sec of measurement. No contamination spots were seen after 11 min of measurement on the same point.     

Elective localization of3H-corticosterone in mast cells

Zusammenfassung Die Aufnahme von Corticosteron-1,2-³H in lymphatische Organe von Mäusen des Stammes BALB/C wurde untersucht. Autoradiographisch wurde gefunden, dass das markierte Corticosteron elektiv in den PAS-positiven Zellen bzw. später in den Mastzellen erscheint.

Résumé En utilisant le 7, 12-diméthylbenza()nthracène (DMBA) on a provoqué un papillome dans la peau de la souris. On observe de nombreuses figures mitotiques dans les mastocytes du papillome formé. Le coefficient mitotique est de 0,6–0,7%; l'injection de colchicine augmente sa valeur.     

Phagocytosis of zymosan particles by mast cells

Résumé Des rats ont été injectés par voie péritonéale avec une suspension de zymosan, une préparation de parois de levure,Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Les cellules de la lymphe péritonéale furent étudiées après au microscope optique et électronique. Ces expériences ont démontré que les mastocytes changent d'aspect et que les particules de zymosan se retrouvent dans des vacuoles cytoplasmiques peu après l'injection. Les mastocytes sont donc des cellules capables de phagocytose.

Zusammenfassung Es wurden in Milz und Thymus von Mäusen des Stammes A/Ph Mastzellenvermehrungen beobachtet und mit den Mastzellenzahlen bei andern Mäusestämmen verglichen.     

Selective incorporation of zinc into rat mast cells

Zusammenfassung Bei der Albinoratte findet sich 48 h nach parenteraler Verabreichung von radioaktivem Zink (Zn⁶⁵) ein hoher Anteil der Aktivität in den Gewebemastzellen. Nach Verabreichung des chemischen Histaminliberators, Compound 48/80, wird ein erheblicher Teil von Zn⁶⁵ aus den Zellen frei.

The histamine content of guinea pig mast cells

Zusammenfassung Von der Voraussetzung ausgehend, dass alles Histamin in den Mastzellen lokalisiert ist, wurde berechnet, dass jede Mastzelle in Aorta, Trachea, Uterus und Jejunum des Meerschweinchens 25–34 µµg Histamin-Base enthält. Die anaphylaktische Freisetzung des Histamins war proportional der Verminderung des Mastzellengehaltes und wurde zu 12–17 µµg/Mastzelle berechnet. Jejunum gab keine anaphylaktische Reaktion.     

Transport of mast cells by the blood circulation

Zusammenfassung Untersuchungen der Gewebemastzellen im Rattenblut ergaben eine bedeutende Zunahme der Mastzellen nach Behandlung mit Cortison. Ein Transport der Mastzellen von lymphatischen Organen über den Blutweg in die Peripherie wie auch eine lokale Umwandlung lymphoider Elemente in Mastzellen wird experimentell wahrscheinlich gemacht.     

Immuno-electron microscopic localization of fibronectin on rat mast cells

Summary Rabbit anti-rat plasma fibronectin (pFN) causes histamine release from rat mast cells in the presence of complement. Fibronectin (FN) on rat mast cells, as shown by immuno-electron microscopy, is principally localized on cell folds, so they may play a role of attachment in the matrix of connective tissue.Acknowledgment. Degranulating activity in hybrid cells derived from rat peritoneal mast cells and ehrlich ascites tumor cells

Summary Fusion of rat mast cells and Ehrlich ascites tumor cells was mediated by HVJ. Compound 48/80-induced degranulation occurred in the fused cells formed from two mast cells and one tumor cell, but not in the fused cells from one mast cell and two or more tumor cells.I am grateful to DrK. Résumé Les mastocytes peuvent être colorés par la réaction polychromatique de pseudo-isocyanine. L'avantage de ce procédé consiste dans le fait qu'on peut obtenir un effet fluorescent qui rend cette réaction très sensible. Une certaine valeur histochimique est envisagée.
