An immunserum was prepared from gamma endorphin and its specifity was checked by the indirect method. It was tested on hypophysis which were taken from Pigs since birth till 3 months old. The anterior lobe as well as the intermediate lobe have reacted. The same cells were positive in the anterior lobe and recognized the anti-ACTH, anti-beta MSH and anti-beta LPH immunserums. However, the reaction was more labile than with these last immunserums and it was varying with the delay of fixation after the death and the penetration in the gland by the fixator.  相似文献

Neurons containing peptide (s) immunologically related to beta-endorphin have been detected by immunochemistry in human adult and fetal hypothalami. Their perikarya are located in the infundibular nucleus. Some fibres terminate close to vessels in the median eminence, others form pericellular baskets around perikarya of non-immunoreactive neurons of the infundibular nucleus. These results suggest that the central nervous system elaborates beta-endorphin or immunologically related peptides.  相似文献

Bovine pituitary intraglandular colloid thought to be a waste product, is the holocrine secretion of intermediate lobe cells. It is housed in the intraglandular lumen (residual lumen) and is extruded into the venous circulation of the cavernous sinuses via clefts in the capsule of the gland aligned with the intraglandular lumen. Intraglandular colloid, fraction F5 (mol.wt 34,000), radiolabeled with (125I)Na and injected (0.15 ml) into the right internal jugular vein of male Wistar rats, accumulated in the endocrine pancreas. Autoradiographs showed that the material had specifically localized in the capillary network of the endocrine pancreas. Since the intermediate lobe is poorly vascularized, intraglandular colloid is considered to be the transport medium for intermediate lobe materials.  相似文献

Recent data on the immunolocalization of regulatory peptides and related propeptide sequences in endocrine cells and tumors of the gastrointestinal tract, pancreas, lung, thyroid, pituitary (ACTH and opioids), adrenals and paraganglia have been revised and discussed. Gastrin, xenopsin, cholecystokinin (CCK), somatostatin, motilin, secretin, GIP (gastric inhibitory polypeptide), neurotensin, glicentin/glucagon-37 and PYY (peptide tyrosine tyrosine) are the main products of gastrointestinal endocrine cells; glucagon, CRF (corticotropin releasing factor), somatostatin, PP (pancreatic polypeptide) and GRF (growth hormone releasing factor), in addition to insulin, are produced in pancreatic islet cells; bombesin-related peptides are the main markers of pulmonary endocrine cells; calcitonin and CGRP (calcitonin gene-related peptide) occur in thyroid and extrathyroid C cells; ACTH and endorphins in anterior and intermediate lobe pituitary cells, alpha-MSH and CLIP (corticotropin-like intermediate lobe peptide) in intermediate lobe cells; met- and leu-enkephalins and related peptides in adrenal medullary and paraganglionic cells as well as in some gut (enterochromaffin) cells; NPY (neuropeptide Y) in adrenaline-type adrenal medullary cells, etc.. Both tissue-appropriate and tissue-inappropriate regulatory peptides are produced by endocrine tumours, with inappropriate peptides mostly produced by malignant tumours.  相似文献

Summary Unilateral eye enucleation in a teleost and a turtle results in progressive AChE decrease in the optic lobe controlateral to the extirpated eye. The final difference reaches 15% in teleost and more than 20% in turtle. Alpha-MSH, beta-MSH and ACTH have been localized in the cells of hypophyseal intermediate lobe by fluorescence histoimmunological technics. Elaboration and excretion of these polypeptides are enhanced after dehydration or adrenalectomy. Syncoilin is a member of the intermediate filament protein family, highly expressed in skeletal and cardiac muscle. Syncoilin binds α-dystrobrevin, a component of the dystrophin associated protein complex (DAPC) located at the muscle cell membrane, and desmin, a muscle-specific intermediate filament protein, thus providing a link between the DAPC and the muscle intermediate filament network. This link may be important for muscle integrity and force transduction during contraction, a theory that is supported by the reduced force-generating capacity of muscles from syncoilin-null mice. Additionally, syncoilin is found at increased levels in the regenerating muscle fibres of patients with muscular dystrophies and mouse models of muscle disease. Therefore, syncoilin may be important for muscle regeneration in response to injury. The aims of this article are to review current knowledge about syncoilin and to discuss its possible functions in skeletal muscle. The olfactory sense detects and distinguishes a multitude of different odors. Recent progress in molecular as well as physiological approaches has elucidated basic principles of neuronal encoding of odorants, common to insects and vertebrates. The construction of neuronal representations for odors begins with the task of mapping the multidimensional odor space onto the two-dimensional sensory surface, and subsequently onto the olfactory bulb or antennal lobe. A distributed expression of odorant receptors, albeit restricted to subregions of the sensory surface (large, intermediate or small for zebrafish, mouse or drosophila, respectively), ensures a robust representation, insensitive to mechanical insult. Olfactory receptor neurons expressing the same odorant receptors converge to form a receptotopic map in the olfactory bulb or antennal lobe. The emerging coding principle is a chemotopic representation of odorants at the first brain level, realized either as combinatorial or as monospecific representation, depending on the odorant.  相似文献

Veronal-acetate pretreatment completely inhibited the ATPase reaction in these red fibres but not in type I fibres of the gastrocnemius. Summary Electrophysiological analysis shows reciprocal connections between substantia nigra and medullary reticular formation (nucleus reticularis giganto celullaris). The nigro-reticular connection appears to be monosynaptic, as shown by antidromic activation, and comprises an ipsi and a contralateral component. Its effect is mainly inhibitory. The reticulonigral component produces mainly excitatory effects and includes fibres from nucleus giganto celullaris and nucleus parvocelullaris in the medullary reticular formation.This work was aided by a grant from CONICIT (projecto 31.26.S1-0412).  相似文献

Summary Each of the 2 groups of medial neurosecretory cells has 10–12 A and 2–3 B-cells. Each pars intercerebralis lateralis has 3–4 B-cells only. The 2 nervi corporis cardiaci I (NccI) join with the lateral wall of the aorta and Ncc II terminate in corpora cardiaca (Cc). Only 1 corpus allatum is present. The paraldehyde fuchsin positive neurosecretory material is stored in the dorsal aorta and not in the Cc which indicates the neurohaemal nature of the aorta.We are grateful to Prof. U.S. Srivastava for providing laboratory facilities and S.C.S.T. Summary The production of intraglandular colloid, brought about by the cyclic breakdown of intermediate lobe cells, is related to the synthesis of hormones in the hypophysis. By analyzing the shift of the amino acid, cystine, during various phases of the gland's cycle it is apparent that hormones, as well as other protein determinants of immunological importance, are transported by way of the intraglandular cleft to the venous circulation and to the cerebrospinal fluid.This study was supported by a grant from the National Research Council of Canada.  相似文献

Comparative analysis of results obtained after subsequent treatments of chick embryo adenohypophysis by anti-ACTH 17-39 Is, PAS and Bodian method demonstrates that ACTH cells are PAS positive, Bodian negative and are located in the cephalic lobe. With the histochemical fluorescence method of Falck, the cells marked by anti-ACTH 17-39 Is exhibit an induced fluorescence, after L-DOPA injection. However, after treatment by metopirone, numerous cells of the caudal part of the adenohypophysis take up L-DOPA but they are not corticotrophs.  相似文献

Summary The effect of hypertonic solutions on the action potential of single myelinated nerve fibres is described. Hypertonicity mainly changes the duration of the action potential: Short action potentials obtained in normal Ringer's solution at room temperature are prolonged, long action potentials due to 0.1–1.0 mM NiCl2-Ringer's solution and low temperature are shortened by hypertonicity. The changes in action potential duration are accompanied by small changes in action potential amplitude. In addition, hypertonicity reduces the depolarization produced by 20 mM KCl; inactivation of the sodium-carrying system under cathodal polarization is enhanced.
