Summary Rat calcitonin gene related peptide (CGRP) and salmon calcitonin (CT) stimulated adenylate cyclase activity in a dose-dependent manner in the rat diaphragm and in the kidney. The ED50 value of rat CGRP was lower and that of salmon CT was higher in the diaphragm than in the kidney. Summary Two components of the venom of the predatory waspPhilanthus triangulum F. significantly reduce — to a greater or less extent — the high affinity uptake of glutamate in rat hippocampus. A concentration of 10 M -PTX caused a reduction of 74%, while the other component, -PTX, at the same concentration, caused a reduction of 18%. Hence the effect of -PTX on high affinity glutamate uptake in the hippocampus is comparable with its effect on high affinity glutamate uptake in insect neuromuscular junctions. Contrary to our previous findings that -PTX has no effect on high affinity glutamate uptake in insect glutamatergic terminal axons, however, -PTX significantly reduces high affinity glutamate uptake in the hippocampus, albeit less effectively than -PTX. 相似文献

Although its operations are not limited to the spatial domain, there is a near consensus that the hippocampus plays a critical
role in memory for place. This review aims to explore this role, with a particular emphasis on the functions performed by
distinct hippocampal subregions. The use of innovative lesioning techniques, localized pharmacological treatments, and molecular
genetic interventions is offering increasingly precise brain-regional specificity and temporal control. Together with the
electrophysiological recording of neuronal activity, these techniques are beginning to shed light on the functioning of specific
components of the hippocampal circuitry in the different phases of memory – encoding, storage, consolidation, and retrieval.
In view of these developments, we examine the involvement of the hippocampus in the encoding versus retrieval of spatial memory,
before turning to the issue of long-term information storage and the role of ‘cellular’ and ‘systems’ consolidation processes
in the formation of lasting memories.

Résumé La plus grande partie du phosphore contenu dans les eaux d'égouts y compris le phosphore dissous dans l'eau a été rapidement éliminée à l'aide de boue «activée», en l'espace de 6 h. Le liquide recueilli par le procédé de boue «activée» contient très peu de phosphore. Le taux du phosphore éliminé suit de très près la vitesse de purification et d'oxydation des eaux d'égouts. Interleukin (IL)-33 is a recently described pro-inflammatory cytokine. Here we demonstrate IL-33 as a regulator of functional osteoclasts (OCs) from human CD14+ monocytes. IL-33 stimulates formation of tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP)+ multinuclear OCs from monocytes. This action was suppressed by anti-ST2 antibody, suggesting that IL-33 acts through its receptor ST2, but not by the receptor activator of NF-κB ligand (RANKL) decoy, osteoprotegerin, or anti-RANKL antibody. IL-33 stimulated activating phosphorylations of signaling molecules in monocytes that are critical for OC development. These included Syk, phospholipase Cγ2, Gab2, MAP kinases, TAK-1, and NF-κB. IL-33 also enhanced expression of OC differentiation factors including TNF-α receptor-associated factor 6 (TRAF6), nuclear factor of activated T cells cytoplasmic 1, c-Fos, c-Src, cathepsin K, and calcitonin receptor. IL-33 eventually induced bone resorption. This study suggests that the osteoclastogenic property of IL-33 is mediated through TRAF6 as well as the immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motif-dependent Syk/PLCγ pathway in human CD14+ monocytes. 相似文献
