The boundary value problem for harmonic maps of the Poincare disc is discussed. The emphasis is on the non-smoothness of the given boundary values in the problem. The boundedness of singular integral operator along an open curve

Thermal wave propagation in graphene studied by molecular dynamics simulations

The transient heat conduction in both armchair and zigzag-edged graphene ribbons pulsed by local heating with a duration of 1 ps was studied using nonequilibrium molecular dynamics simulations. The results show that the heat pulse excites two waves which indicates non-Fourier heat conduction. One of the two waves is a sound wave （first sound）, which has macroscopic momentum and propagates at the speed of sound. The other is a thermal wave （second sound）, whose propagation speed is 1/√3 of the sound velocity. The sound wave excited by the heat pulse is a longitudinal wave, whose energy is only transported in the longitudinal direction. The thermal wave excited by the heat pulse is generated by transverse lattice vibrations, with the energy only having the transverse component. The observed anisotropy of the transient heat conduction suggests that the system is in a non-equilibrium state during propagation of the heat pulse. Further statistical analyses show that the displacement of the heat pulse energy is related to the time as 〈σ2〉 ∝ t^1.80, which implies that heat transport is ballistic-diffusive transport in graphene. The higher proportion of the ballistic transport will lead to stronger heat waves. At the crest of the thermal wave, energy is transported ballistically, while in the diffusive region and during attenuation of the thermal wave, the energy is transported diffusively.     

Kinetics of C2(a3Πu) radical reactions with NO, N2O, O2, H2 and NH3

Pulsed laser photolysis/laser-induced fluorescence (LP-LIF) is utilized to measure rate constants for C₂(a³Π_u) reactions with NO, N₂O, O₂, H₂ and NH₃. Multiphoton dissociation of C₂Cl₄ at 266 nm is employed for the generation of C₂(a³Π_u) radicals. The C₂(a³Π_u) concentration is monitored by the fluorescence of the (0, 0) band of the (d³Π_g&#8596;a³Π_u) transition at 516.5 nm. C₂(a³Π_u) removal rate constants for the reactions are determined as k_NO = (5.46 ± 0.10) × 10^-11 cm³ molecule^-1 s^-1 , k_N2O = (1.63 ± 0.20) × 10^-13 cm³ molecule^-1 s^-1 , k_N2O = (1.58 ± 0.16) × 10^-11 cm³ molecule^-1 s^-1, k_O2 = (5.92 ± 1.00) × 10^-14 cm³ molecule^-1 s^-1, k_H2< 1.0× 10^-14 cm³ molecule^-1 s^-1. Based on the data analysis and theoretical calculation, we suggest that the C₂(a³Π_u) reactions with H₂ and NH₃ proceed via the hydrogen abstraction mechanism, barriers exist at the entrance channel of the reactions of C₂(a³Π_u) with H₂ and NH₃.

A topological approach to the correlation of standard formation enthalpy with path index of benzenes derivatives

A mathematical model formulated as ΔfHθm(g)=a+sum from i=1 to 5bipi(i≠2) was constructed for the relationshipbetween standard formation enthalpy ΔfHθm(g) and path index Pi of substituted benzenes derivatives. An empiric equation for the calculation of ΔfHθm(g) was worked out. The calculated values of standard formation enthalpy based on this model are excellently consistent with those from experimental for 55 organic compounds. The model is shown to be simple and of practical usefulness, particularly when required experimental data are unavailable.     

Strong stability of linear forms in φ -mixing random variables

In this paper some new results of strong stability of linear forms in φ-mixing random variables are given. It is mainly proved that for a sequence of φ-mixing random variables {x _n , n ⩾ 1} and two sequences of positive numbers {a _n , n ⩾ 1} and {b _n , n ⩾ 1} there exist d _n ∈ R, n = 1,2,L, such that a.s. under some suitable conditions. The results extend and improve the corresponding theorems for independent identically distributed random variables. Diagnostics of magnetic field strength for gyrosynchrotron radiation regions of the lower harmonics

A diagnostic formula of magnetic field strength of gyrosynchrotron radiation regions of the lower harmonics (5 ≤S≤10 ) is presented based on their emissivity η νBN , absorptivity κ νBN , and the turnover frequency of radio spectra ν P. Their diagnostic error is estimated. And an accurate relation between electron energy spectral index δ and brightness temperature spectral index β is also given.     

Population-size-dependent branching processes in Markovian random environments

A branching model {Z n} n≥0is considered where the offspring distribution of the population's evolution is not only dependent on the population size, but also controlled by a Markovian environmental process {ξ n} n≥0. For this model, asymptotic behaviour is studied such as limn→∞Z n and limn→∞Z n/m n in the case that the mean m k, θof the offspring distribution converges to m>1 as the population size k grows to ∞. In the case that {ξ n} n≥0is an irreducible positive recurrent Markov chain, certain extinction (i.e. P(Z n=0 for some n)=1) and noncertain extinction (i.e. P(Z n=0 for some n)<1) are studied.     

Application of thermogravimetry to study the kinetics and stability of porphyrin copper-sodium of ephedra

Thermogravimetry was used to study the non-isothermal decomposition kinetics and the stability of porphyrin copper-sodium from ephedra. The kinetic equation for the second step can be expressed as . Exponential inequality for a class of NOD random variables and its application

In this paper,an exponential inequality for weighted sums of identically distributed NOD (negatively orthant dependent) random variables is established,by which we obtain the almost sure convergence rate of which reaches the available one for independent random variables in terms of Berstein type inequality. As application,we obtain the relevant exponential inequality for Priestley-Chao estimator of nonparametric regression estimate under NOD samples,from which the strong consistency rate is also obtained.     

The bubble leakage mechanism for vertical upflows by the phase separation concept

Recently,our research group proposed the phase separation condenser tube,in which a mesh cylinder was inserted to form the flow structure of‘‘gas near the tube wall and liquid in the tube core’’,significantly enhance the condensation heat transfer.But the bubble leakage towards the core region may worsen the heat transfer enhancement.In order to prevent the bubble leakage,the critical criterion was proposed based on the Young–Laplace equation,considering the inertia force,viscous force and pulsating flow.It was found that the critical criterion depends on the dimensionless parameter G*,the We number and a coefficient C.The numerical model was developed in terms of the volume of fluid method to predict the two-phase laminar flow in the phase separation condenser tube.The results show that the bubble leakage takes place at the bubble tip,which is agreed with the experimental observations.The critical curve distinguishing the non-bubble-breaking and bubble-breaking was obtained by comparing the bubble dynamics at different G*and We.The coefficient C was determined.The critical criterion for the bubble leakage is given as G We0:22We0:99349 G4:7 103 We0:00651t196:39We0:006514cosa DHW,providing the design and operation guidance for the phase separation condenser tube.
