Eco-physiological studies onZornia diphylla pers. with reference to adaptive seed dormancy

Summary Seeds ofZornia diphylla possess a complex type of dormancy which is of great survival value for the species. Seeds show polymorphism. The optimum temperature for germination explains the cause of its distribution in the tropics. The grazing and scraping promotes the vegetative growth.The author is grateful to Dr.R. Sahai and Dr.R. Gene-enzyme relationships in the tryptophan pathway ofSchizosaccharomyces pombe

Interspecific protoplast fusion and complementation inaspergilli

Summary Protoplast fusion and nutritional complementation between auxotrophic mutants ofAspergillus nidulans andAspergillus fumigatus has been achieved. Some metabolic disorders affecting the carotenoid-linked haemolymph proteins inRhynchosciara americana (Diptera,Sciaridae)

Summary Disorders in the carotenoid metabolism are proposed to explain the absence of the yellow and violet or only the violet carotenoid-linked proteins from the haemolymph of someR. americana larvae. The molecular basis for scent discrimination: Response to nitrobenzene-d5 of honey bees (Apis mellifera L.) conditioned with nitrobenzene

Zusammenfassung Honigbienen,Apis mellifera L., wurden dressiert, Zuckersirup an Stellen zu sammeln die mit Nitrobenzol markiert waren. Wenn Nitrobenzol oder Nitrobenzol-d ₅ zur Auswahl standen, konnten die Bienen nicht zwischen diesen Analogen unterscheiden. Dieses Ergebnis stimmt mit der Überlegung überein, dass die Chemorezeptormechanismen mit Elektronenmustern odereffekten zusammenhängen und nicht auf Oszillations-und Rotationsfrequenz, Dipolmoment oder anderen Masseneffekten an Molekülen beruhen.
