Summary Intraperitoneal and intraventricular injection of histamine induces a very fast and high elevation of vasopressin in rat plasma as determined by radioimmunoassay. The effects are dose and time related. The intraventricular injection is more effective with regard to time and dose than the intraperitoneal injection.

首先,根据结构参数在GAMBIT2．3中建立新型排烟冷却塔的三维模型并设置边界条件。在完成塔内汽水换热,抽力及阻力计算的基础上。应用FLUENT6．3计算平台,结合自编程序,模拟发现：新型排烟冷却塔能有效避免因常规烟塔烟道布置产生的射流卷吸负压;降低烟气对烟塔的腐蚀作用;使烟气与热湿空气组成的混合气体抬升性能得到改善。对优化排烟冷却塔结构,进行合理的烟道布置提供了指导性建议。     

Demonstration of exocytosis in the sinus gland of Astacus Leptodactylus (Nordmann) under the influence of serotonin injections]

Following a serotonin injection, a rise of exocytosis in the sinus gland of the crayfish Astacus leptodactylus is observed together with an increase of the glucose level in the hemolymph. The phenomenon of exocytosis reaches a peak between 2 and 4 h after injection, wheras the highest glucose level in the hemolymph appears between 4 and 6 h after the same injection.     

Haemolymph ecdysteroids level following the injection of ecdysone or ecdysterone; its relation with tegument and midgut response inAeshna cyanea (Insecta,Odonata)

Summary The haemolymph ecdysteroid level after injection of ecdysone or ecdysterone inAeshna cyanea larvae has been determined by a radioimmunoassay method. The rate of excretion appears to be dependent on both the ecdysteroid injected and the time of injection. In case of ecdysone injection, the secretion of the epidermis cuticle and the differentiation of the imaginal midgut epithelium occur when the ecdysteroid level remains low for many days.     

Serum and liver radioactivity levels in mice after intraperitoneal and subcutaneous injection of [14C]orotic acid

Summary [¹⁴C]Orotic acid was rapidly distributed in blood after, both i.p. and s.c. injection but was not completely absorbed from the peritoneal cavity until 20 min after injection. S.c. injection should be an acceptable alternative to i.p. injection although the incorporation into the liver acid soluble- and RNA-fractions was somewhat delayed after the s.c. injection.This work was supported by grants from the Carl Trygger Foundation and the Foundation of Director Albert Påhlsson.     

Über den zeitlichen Ablauf der Aktivierung von Cyclophosphamid im Menschen und die Testung der zytostatisch aktiven Form an Ehrlich-Mäuse-Aszites-Tumorzellen

Summary The cytostatic action of human blood serum, following intravenous injection of cyclophosphamid, on cell proliferation and lactic production of Ehrlich mouse ascites tumour cells in vitro was tested. The maximum cytostatic activity was found 2 h after injection.     

Effects of 2-deoxy-D-glucose,glucose and insulin on efferent activity in gastric vagus nerve

Summary Intracarotid injection of 2-deoxy-D-glucose and insulin increased the efferent activity in the gastric vagus nerve of anesthetized rats, while glucose injection transiently decreased vagus activity.This work was supported by research grant No. 212105 from The Ministry of Education, Science and Culture of Japan.     

Effects of 18-hydroxydeoxycorticosterone on central nervous system excitability

The effects of 18-hydroxydeoxycorticosterone (18-OH-DOC) on central nervous system excitability were studied in adrenalectomized rats. Sixty-four evoked potentials (EP) recorded from the pontine reticular formation were averaged before and after the injection of vehicle and hormone. 750 micrograms of 18-OH-DOC dissolved in 0.5 ml of a 4:1 saline Cremophor-EL solution were injected i.v. A decrease of 55.7 +/- 6.1% in the amplitude of the EPs was observed with the hormone 16.3 min +/- 2.7 (SE) after injection. Amplitude values returned to baseline levels 38 min +/- 6.8 (SE) after injection. The secretion of 18-OH-DOC is greatly increased by ACTH and might modulate central nervous system function.     

ACTH response induced by interleukin-1 is mediated by CRF secretion stimulated by hypothalamic PGE

We investigated whether hypothalamic prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) and corticotropin releasing factor (CRF) are responsible for the development of the adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) response induced by interleukin-1 alpha (IL-1 alpha). The present results show that ACTH responses induced by intravenous injection of IL-1 alpha were suppressed by systemic pretreatment with indomethacin and that intrahypothalamic injection of PGE2 stimulates the secretion of ACTH. Furthermore, systemic pretreatment with anti-CRF antibody significantly suppressed the ACTH response induced by intrahypothalamic injection of PGE2. These data suggest that the ACTH response induced by IL-1 is mediated by CRF secretion stimulated by hypothalamic PGE2.     

Differences in utilization of tritiated thymidine and tritiated deoxycytidine by rat lymph node cells.

Large lymphoid cells and plasma cells in antigenically stimulated rat lymph nodes retain less label after injection of 3H-CdR than after injection of 3H-TdR. There is no difference amongst small lymphocytes. The data are consistent with a defect in the utilization of 3H-CdR in the late stages of B cell maturation in the rat.     

Comparison of the morphogenic effects of JH-I and JH-III during the solitary phase of Locusta migratoria]

After injection of oiled solutions of JH-I metamorphosis was much more disturbed than following the same treatment with JH-III. The two hormones reduced in the same way the mortality which occurred after injection of pure peanut oil in the first hours of a larval stage. JH-1 and JH-III seemed to have the same effect on the two phases of Locusta.     

Inhibition of corticotropic function by administration of GABA in carp (Cyprinus carpio L.)]

The intracardiac injection (50 microgram/g) of GABA to Carps clearly inhibits the rise of the plasma cortisol level which occurs usually in response to the blood sampling manipulations. The inhibition starts thirty minutes after injection and lasts till the end of the experiment two hours later. The hypothesis that this neurotransmitter has a regulatory function on the corticotrop cells, especially on the excretion of ACTH has to be considered.     

Effect of intratumoral injection of bacterial and viral neuraminidase in rats]

We studied the effect of neuraminidase injection in rat's tumor at different doses: 5,10,50,100, 500 U and we concluded that: There was no difference between the rats treated with 5,10,50 U and the controls. The y died 3 weeks after the injection. But the rats treated by 100 at 500 U of NA died quickley, in the week, of long metastases.     

Etude comparative sur l'action de différents liquides (eau distillée,solution physiologique de chlorure de sodium,liquide de Tyrode) sur le développement de l'embryon de poulet

Summary The injection of small doses of distilled water, physiological solution of natrium chloride and liquid of Tyrode, is well tolerated by the embryos; large doses have a stronger lethal action. The three liquids have no specific teratogenic action. The injection of 1/10 cm³ of Tyrode at the 24th h of incubation seems to be the quantity of solvent and the period for the injection which are ideal for testing the effects of an hydrosoluble substance in the chick embryo.

Effect of sex hormones on uric acid metabolism in rats.

The effects of sex hormones on purine metabolism were investigated in rats. No influence on purine synthesis was shown by the injection of estrogen and androgen. The plasma urate levels were significantly lowered from 2.43 +/- 1.04 mg/100 ml to 1.53 +/- 0.57 mg/100 ml by the injection of progesterone. Urinary excretion of uric acid plus allantoin was slightly reduced. These results suggested that progesterone may influence age and sex differences in human plasma urate levels.     

Effect of an acute inflammatory process on anti-infectious resistance in mice]

Acute Inflammatory reaction induced by intrapleural injection of calcium pyrophosphate increases the resistance of mice to Klebsiella pneumoniae infection. Transfer to mice of protection against Klebsiella pneumoniae is effected by injection of inflammation sera.     

Changes in placental permeability to corticosterone and estradiol-17beta toward the end of gestation in the rat

Radioactivity in the fetal plasma 1 h after maternal injection of 14C-4-corticosterone or 14C-4-estradiol-17 beta on day 21 of gestation was markedly higher than that 1 h after injection on day 22. Radioactivity in the maternal plasma was not different on these 2 days. The results suggest that the placental permeability to steroids from the mother to the fetus declines toward the end of gestation in the rat.     

Immune phenomena during experimental schistosomiasis in the rat: role of specific and non specific factors]

Partial immunity to Schistosoma mansoni in the rat can be obtained by injection of a bilharzian antigen together with Freund's complete adjuvant. The results are the same no matter what form of the parasite is used (infecting cercariae or adult). This immunity is the result of both specific and non-specific mechanisms, as is proved by the fact that a lesser but still quite clear degree of resistance to infestation can be obtained by injection of Freund's adjuvant alone.
