La distribution des acides aminés dans les protéines étudiées est très semblable, sauf en ce qui concerne le tryptophane, la méthionine, l'arginine, l'acide aspartique, la glycine et l'isoleucine.

The amino acid composition of histidine ammonia-lyase from Pseudomonas putida NCIB 10807 suggests that this enzyme may be different from the Pseudomonas testosteroni NCIB 10808 histidine ammonia-lyase, whose amino acid composition is known.     

The amine and amino acid composition in the Retzius cells of the leechHirudo medicinalis

Zusammenfassung Die Mikrochromatographie von dansylierten Verbindungen wurde angewandt, um die Verteilung von Aminen und Aminosäuren in den Retzius-Zellen und der Bauchganglienkette des BlutegelsHirudo medicinalis zu untersuchen. Die Retzius-Zellen weisen sehr grosse Mengen an Serotonin, 5-HTP und Tryptophan auf. Ihr Gehalt an Asparagin- und Glutaminsäure ist ebenfalls, allerdings in geringerem Masse, grösser als im umgebenoen Nervengewebe, während Histidin, Prolin, Valin, Alanin, Glycin sowie Threonin, Glutamin und Asparagin in geringeren Mengen vorkommen.

Radioactive amino acid incorporation into the rat pancreatic juice proteins

Zusammenfassung Es wurde der zeitliche Verlauf des Einbaus radioaktiver Aminosäuren (Phenylalanin-3-C¹⁴, Alanin-1-C¹⁴, Histidin-2-C¹⁴ und Methionin-S³⁵) in die Proteine des Pankreassaftes der Ratte untersucht. Ein Maximum des Einbaus kommt zwischen der zweiten und vierten Stunde nach Injektion der Aminosäuren vor, während in der ersten Stunde praktisch keine radioaktiven Proteine nachgewiesen werden konnten. Die Ergebnisse werden verglichen mit denen früher beschriebener Versuche mit Glyzin-C¹⁴.

Buffalo α S1-casein; its terminal residues and amino acid composition

Summary BuffaloaS₁-casein was treated with carboxypeptidase-A to determine the C-terminal amino acid residue, which was — leucine-tryptophan. The Sakaguchi reagent was used to confirm arginine as the N-terminal amino acid. The colored p-phenylazophenyl thiohydantions of tryptophan and arginine released from C- and N-terminals respectively were quantitatively estimated and from this molecular weights of buffaloaS₁ casein were calculated and found to be 26,300 and 26,100 respectively.Acknowledgment. Free amino acid composition of some nitrogen fixing blue-green algae in heterocystous and non-heterocystous conditions

Zusammenfassung N₂-fixierende Blaualgen wurden unter Bedingungen gezüchtet, die einerseits zu Heterocysten führten, andererseits jedoch diese Bildung verhinderten. Die Analyse der freien Aminosäuren ergab sowohl qualitative als auch quantitative Unterschiede, ohne dass ein eindeutiger Zusammenhang zwischen der Synthese einzelner Aminosäuren und dem Vorhandensein beziehungsweise der Abwesenheit von Heterocysten beobachtet werden konnte.     

Free amino acid composition of the intestinal contents,intestinal cells and hemolymph ofPhilosamia cynthia larvae

Summary Free amino acid composition of the intestinal contents, intestinal cells and hemolymph has been determined in larvae of the mothPhilosamia cynthia. From the hemolymph/lumen concentration ratio, an active transport could be inferred for neutral and basic amino acids. The values of cell/lumen and hemolymph/cell ratios suggested that the active step in the transport mechanism could be localized at the luminal pole of the enterocyte for neutral amino acids (except aromatic amino acids) and at the basolateral pole of the enterocyte for basic amino acids (except arginine).This work was supported by grants from Italian Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche and from Ministero della Pubblica Istruzione, Rome.
