Fossil angiosperm woods from the Early Cretaceous are of great interest because very few have been reported from strata of this age. This species demonstrates that the angiosperms had developed many of their modern characteristics by Early Cretaceous time.

On comparison with fossil woods of this family, it most closely resembles Syzygioxylon Ingle (1973). The specimen differs from described species of Syzygioxylon and, therefore, it is proposed as the new species Syzygioxylon chhindwarense.

The infestation rate increased from 18.2 percent in January, to 87.5 percent in February, to 100.0 percent in March.

These individual frequency values were added together to create a summed “frequency.” This summed value was compared to the original frequency values generated by each individual plot size in respect to its ability to detect range trend. The summation procedure consistently detected smaller changes in frequency than any individual plot size. In addition, the summed values detected a significant change in more species at each site. Summing the frequency values usually detected changes at a lower alpha level than did any single plot (0.10 vs. 0.20).

Age-circumference and age-diameter predictor equations were developed from material obtained from 10 stands along a 65-km section of the Wasatch Mountains foothills. Ages estimated on material of known age by the two equations were highly similar. Age predictions were more accurate for young stems than for older stems. The oldest stem aged was 163 years.
