Summary After freezing and thawing of rat skin, degranulation and disappearance of mast cell fluorescence became apparent in the skin up to 1 h after thawing. Gradual disappearance of catecholamines from the adrenergic nerves of the injured area occurred during the 1st 24 h. Both mast cells and adrenergic nerves may play a role in tissue destruction after freezing injury.Supported by grants from the Research Foundation of Oy. The subclavian glomus (aortic body) of New Zealand white rabbits was examined ultrastructurally using stereological morphometric analysis. The Type I cells of the glomus possess numerous electron-opaque vesicles which occupy approximately 12% of the cytoplasmic volume of the cells. The amine-containing vesicles comprise a heterogeneous population of vesicles with a mean caliper diameter of 113.5 nm. Differences in vesicle diameters may indicate the storage of different biogenic amines, different secretion or maturation states between glomera and/or additional physiological functions for the glomera.  相似文献

The responsiveness of fetal mouse Leydig cells to catecholamines (epinephrine, norepinephrine), a beta-agonist agent (L-isoproterenol) and hCG was investigated in vitro. Fetal Leydig cells when freshly isolated were unable to respond to L-isoproterenol (10(-5) M). However, L-isoproterenol, epinephrine and norepinephrine significantly stimulated androgen production by fetal Leydig cells after 24 h of primary culture. Androgen production was increased in both conditions and to a greater extent by hCG. Propranolol blocked the stimulatory effect of L-isoproterenol and epinephrine. It is concluded that catecholamines can regulate fetal testosterone biosynthesis.  相似文献

Summary An anti-macrophage antiserum to rat peritoneal macrophages was prepared in rabbits. The antibodies produced showed cross reaction with perivascular adventitial macrophages, with macrophages in thymus and spleen, and with brain microgial cells.Acknowledgments. Summary Based on the observations made on human and dog red blood cells, it was recently proposed that the response of red cell glycolysis to variations in the levels of specific cations is an evolutionary adaptation in response to a specific cellular environment. We have now examined the effect of K+ and Na+ on the activity of pyruvate kinase (PK) in the red blood cells from 2 genetically different types of sheep high potassium (HK) and low potassium (LK). The results indicate that K+ stimulate glucose consumption and the activity of PK in both types of sheep. Summary The ultrastructural morphology of the clonal insulin-producing cell line, RINm5F, was investigated. Virus-like particles, probably C type viruses, were identified both intra- and extracellularly. Because these particles could not be found in the original transplantable tumor, it is probable that viruses were induced at some later stage in the development of the RINm5F cell line. Summary The presence of the renin angiotensin system in the hippocampus is shown by immunohistochemistry. Intra- and extra-cellular recordings revealed that angiotensin II and III excite CA 1 pyramidal cells by disinhibition. Summary Acini were enzymatically dissociated from rat submandibular gland and their mucous glycoproteins radiolabelled with14C-glucosamine. Phentolamine, an alpha blocking agent, potentializes the adrenergical lipolytic effect of isolated fat cells of Canine omental adipose tissue when their average diameter is greater than 80 micrometers. This effect can be found also in isolated fat cells of mesenteric adipose tissue, spontaneously less sensitive with catecholamines. Phenylephrine, alpha sympathomimetic, partially inhibits the lipolytic effect stimulated by isoprenaline.  相似文献

Summary Plasma catecholamines are increased in sodium-loaded rats under both resting and stress conditions. Summary The number of nucleated marrow cells was decreased following neonatal thymectomy in rats, and was corrected by administration of syngeneic lymphoid cells, or by implantation of a syngeneic testis. Summary The morphology and histochemistry of dissociated newborn rat brain was studied in tissue culture. Direct microscopy of developing cells, electron microscopy and the alkaline phosphatase activity were used to identify the capillary endothelial cells.Acknowledgments. We thank Dr J. Summary The skin of congenitally athymicnu/nu mice is rich in mast cells which stain metachromatically, contain histamine and 5-hydroxytryptamine, and participate in the PCA reaction. Summary [14C]Orotic acid was rapidly distributed in blood after, both i.p. and s.c. injection but was not completely absorbed from the peritoneal cavity until 20 min after injection. Summary Radiochemical precursor compounds for neurotransmitters were incubated withLimulus ventral nerve photoreceptor preparations. Octopamine was preferentially synthesized by a photoreceptor rich fraction of the nerve, acetylcholine was made by a photoreceptor poor fraction, and -aminobutyric acid was made about equally well in both fractions. Summary Reliability of measurement of lymphocyte cyclic AMP synthesis in intact cells was estimated by taking 3 successive blood samples during a one-month period from 11 healthy volunteers. Isoproterenol and prostaglandin E1-stimulated cyclic AMP accumulation were used to evaluate the activity of these two receptor activities in human lymphocytes. Forskolin-stimulated cyclic AMP accumulation was used to evaluate the activity of the Ns/catalytic subunit. Only for forskolin was significant reliability observed. For isoproterenol and prostaglandin E1 significant reliability was observed only for male subjects.Acknowledgment.
