The hoplonemertean genera Prosadenoporus Bürger, 1890 and Pantinonemertes Moore and Gibson, 1981 are revised and synonymized based on a morphological re‐evaluation. We redefine Prosadenoporus Bürger, 1890 on the basis of characters held in common by the eight species: Prosadenoporus agricola (Willemoes‐Suhm, 1874) comb. nov., Prosadenoporus arenarius Bürger, 1890, Prosadenoporus spectaculum (Yamaoka, 1940) comb. nov., Prosadenoporus winsori (Moore and Gibson, 1981) comb. nov., Prosadenoporus enalios (Moore and Gibson, 1981) comb. nov., Prosadenoporus mooreae (Gibson, 1982b) comb. nov., Prosadenoporus mortoni (Gibson, 1990) comb. nov. and Prosadenoporus fujianensis (Sun, 2001) comb. nov. We describe a new semi‐terrestrial species Prosadenoporus floridensis sp. nov. from Belize and Florida and compare its morphology to other species of Prosadenoporus. The average sequence divergence of P. floridensis sp. nov. from other congeners is 9.15% (16S) and 10.65% (COI) and 7.8% and 10.3% respectively from the nearest sequenced congener P. mortoni. 相似文献

A new introduced species, Otala punctata (Müller, 1774) and new records in Chile for Cornu aspersum (Müller, 1774) and Deroceras laeve (Müller, 1774) are documented based on surveys carried out in northern and central areas of the country. The presence and distribution of these alien species are complemented with a comprehensive compilation of all 34 non-indigenous species of marine, freshwater and terrestrial Mollusca in Chile; until 1999, only 16 alien species were known in Chile. Most of these alien species are found exclusively in transformed habitats, few exist in natural environments. The mechanism of introduction for the majority of these non-indigenous species is unknown; however, horticultural development, urban and suburban transformation of original natural habitats, and the aquarium trade are the most likely pathways of introduction. The highest threat of alien species is direct competition and predation of native molluscs, especially the small native land gastropods. Education and continuous field surveys are vital to detect and prevent their propagation as well as to avoid introduction of additional alien taxa. 相似文献

The species of Encarsia Förster (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae) known from China are revised. This study is based largely on newly-collected material from Fujian and Guangdong provinces in mainland China, and from the island of Taiwan. A total of 76 species are treated, including 29 new species, one new combination and 16 new records for China. All species are fully described or diagnosed, and illustrated. Three new specific synonymies are proposed and two lectotypes are designated. Four species are described from males only, three belonging to the perflava-group (ancistrocera, echinocera, viggianii), having modified antennae, and one (magnivena) in the strenua-group having very unusual fore wings. A key to the Chinese species of Encarsia, based largely on females, is provided. 相似文献

The Gordiida species Chordodes moraisi (Carvalho, ) and C. staviarskii Carvalho and Feio, are re‐described using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Chordodes moraisi is characterized by four areole types, two of which correspond to tubercle areoles, the crown areoles appear as single structures and occur on both sides along the ventral midline. Chordodes staviarskii is characterized by a polymorphism of crowned areoles which appear as two types with distinct distribution patterns. Two species, Chordodes gestri Camerano, and Pseudochordodes griffinii (Camerano, ), are synonymized with Neochordodes occidentalis (Montgomery, 1898) and Chordodes peraccae (Camerano, 1894). 相似文献

Many tropical terrestrial gastropods, such as Subulinidae, are recognized and classified by their shells, as is the case for Leptinaria unilamellata (d’Orbigny, 1835), a hermaphroditic pulmonate snail restricted to tropical America. We aimed to characterize the morpho-anatomy and histology of the reproductive system of L. unilamellata. We compared the results obtained from L. unilamellata with the available data on the reproductive system of other subulinid species. The main distinctive characters are those of the penial complex, such as the proportion of the length of the penial complex and the length of the free oviduct, presence of a flagellum, site of insertion of the bursa copulatrix duct relative to the site of insertion of the penial complex and presence and extension of the penial sheath. 相似文献

The zoeal stages of Hiplyra variegata are described and illustrated for the first time. Zoea I was obtained from an ovigerous female, and the zoea II and zoea III stages were captured in the plankton (their identity was confirmed by rearing some of them from earlier stages). Comparisons are made with the only other species of the genus of which larvae are known, i.e. H. platycheir. The presence of a lateral spine on the carapace of zoea I is one of the most important characters that can be used for easy recognition of H. variegata. It is important to note that the third zoea of H. variegata has four small spines at each posterolateral margin of the carapace, in contrast to three spines in other species. 相似文献

The species of Encarsia Förster known from Australia are revised. This study is based mainly on material collected over the last 10 years. Ninety‐four species are recognized, including 38 new species, and seven new records for Australia. All species are fully described or diagnosed, and illustrated by microphotographs. Seven new specific synonymies are proposed and two lectotypes are designated. A key to the females of Australian species of Encarsia is provided. The known hosts and distribution are summarized. In the present study, we aimed to characterize the life history of the land snail Subulina octona integrating information on life-history traits and morphology. We also compared the histology of the free-oviduct and spermoviduct of ovoviviparous and egg-retaining species of subulinids. We considered as ovoviviparous the species in which the complete embryonic development as well as egg hatching occurs inside the parent’s body and, at the end of this process, the parent releases juveniles instead of eggs. We considered as egg-retaining the species in which a great part of the embryonic development takes place inside the parent’s body and the eggs laid contain well-developed embryos. The results showed that the free-oviduct of both ovoviviparous and egg-retaining species shows a histological arrangement that confers greater strength to its walls and is probably related to egg retention. The wall of the spermoviduct is formed by pseudostratified columnar epithelium, with cell apical processes (probably cilia), and by underlying secretory cells. In gravid egg-retaining snails, the eggshells appear in close contact with the secretory cells of the spermoviduct. This fact suggests that these cells play a role in eggshell formation. The present study is the first account for histological features of S. octona, Allopeas gracile and Allopeas micra. The life history of S. octona is a combination of long lifespan, early sexual maturity, indeterminate growth and egg retention. Egg retention limits the number of young that can be produced in one reproductive event. However, the reproductive strategy adopted by S. octona, associating egg retention and K-strategism, compensates this cost of retaining eggs, because the reproductive success may be enhanced as a result of the higher survival of juveniles and the possibility of performing several reproductive events during the year. 相似文献

The buoyancy and locomotion of the hyperiid amphipod Phronima sedentaria (which lives in barrels constructed from the tissues of gelatinous animals) was studied. The amphipods were much denser than sea water. Barrels were slightly denser than sea water and had six times the mass of the amphipods living within them. Phronima sedentaria swims much more quickly (by a factor of about 3–4) when swimming without its gelatinous barrel. The barrel is asymmetrical with one aperture (entrance) having about three times the area of that of the other (exit). All sustained swimming was accomplished with the larger barrel aperture directed forwards and the significance of this is discussed. Water flow around the barrel and much of the flow through the barrel was laminar; turbulence was limited to the posterior third of the interior of the barrel and was associated with the beating of the pleopods that provide both propulsion and the respiratory current. 相似文献

An analysis was undertaken to test the monophyly of the sabellid genus Chone Krøyer using maximum parsimony methodology. Cladistic analysis revealed three monophyletic genera whose respective members were assigned previously to Chone. Chone sensu stricto (containing the type species) is defined by the presence of broadly rounded dorsal lips and thoracic uncini with a large tooth above the main fang, followed by a series of smaller teeth. Dialychone Claparède is re‐established for the second genus and a new name – Paradialychone – is proposed for terminals nested in the third clade. Dialychone and Paradialychone gen. nov. are the sister groups of Chone, defined by the presence of a simple pre‐pygidial depression and modified posterior abdominal uncini. Amphicorina Claparède is basal within Sabellinae and Euchone Malmgren is the sister group of Chone, Paradialychone gen. nov. and Dialychone. The analysis supports the transfer of C. princei and C. reayi to Jasmineira Langerhans. 相似文献

Ostracods have discontinuous development, marked by ecdyses, and determinate growth. Ontogenetic studies have suggested a pattern of nine postembryonic stages (eight juvenile phases and the adult) for the main freshwater ostracod superfamilies Cypridoidea, Cytheroidea and Darwinuloidea. However, cases of a supposed extra moult in the adult stage have been proposed for some ostracod species, which would amount to 10 postembryonic growth stages. One such example is Elpidium bromeliarum Müller, 1880, a cytheroidean that inhabits tank-bromeliads. The present study is aimed at investigating the ontogenetic development of E. bromeliarum using width and length measurements, as well as carapace and appendage morphology in order to test the existing hypothesis of an additional growth stage in adults of this species. Our results revealed nine postembryonic growth stages (eight juvenile and the adult), with sexual dimorphism beginning its expression in the last juvenile stage. Thus, the ontogenetic development of E. bromeliarum agrees with the overall pattern observed for podocopid ostracods and the hypothesis of 10 postembryonic growth stages was not corroborated. We argue that the inability to differentiate juveniles from adults, or different species from one another, may have misled to the assumption of an additional moult in E. bromeliarum. 相似文献

The bopyrid parasite Orbione halipori was recorded for the first time from Metapenaeus joyneri. Morphometric analysis indicated that infested male and female shrimp have slightly, but significantly, lower body weight than uninfested shrimp of the same carapace length. While the parasites sterilize their hosts, the low infestation rate (0·53%) appears not to pose a threat to the shrimp fisheries in the Zhujiang estuary. 相似文献

Summary The variation in the incidence and intensity of infestation of the five-bearded rockling, Onos mustelus (L.) with Podocotyle atomon, Bothriocephalus scorpii, Contracaecum clavatum and Echinorhynchus gadi has been studied for a period of one year, on a shore at Mumbles Head, Swansea. There is a general increase in the incidence and intensity of infestation by P. atomon and C. clavatum with increase in the length (age) of the host. With E. gadi and B. scorpii, however, infestation decreases in the larger fish. The seasonal variations in the incidence and intensity of infestation with these parasites are influenced by tidal fluctuations, temperature and by the feeding habits and breeding cycle of the fish. The frequency distribution of parasite specimens is also described and discussed. 相似文献
