Isolation of a potent allergen from house dust mite by interaction with the lectin tridacnin

Summary Tridacnin, the lectin from the clamTridacna maxima, precipitates with house dust mite extracts and provides a simple procedure for obtaining a potent, purified mite allergen. Isolation and characterization of hallachrome,a red pigment from the sea wormHallaparthenopeia

Riassunto Viene descritto l'isolamento e la caratterizzazione dello Hallacromo, il pigmento epiteliale del verme marinoHalla parthenopeia che è stato oggeto di numerose ricerche fin dal 1931. Sulla base dei risultati ottenuti si può concludere che il pigmento, contrariamente a quanto riportato da altri Autori, è un metilmetossi-ossi-1, 2-antrachinone (I). Sono in corso ulteriori ricerche per giungere alla definizione completa della struttura del pigmento, che è il primo antrachinone rinvenuto in natura non sostituito nelle posizioni 9 e 10.

A new,unexpected marine source of a molting hormone. Isolation of ecdysterone in large amounts from the zoanthidGerardia savaglia

Summary Ecdysterone was found in large amounts in the Mediterranean zoanthidGerardia savaglia both immediately after its collection and after it had been kept for 15 months in an aquarium. This is the first time that an ecdysteroid has been found in a marine animal which does not belong to the phylum Arthropoda.Acknowledgments. We are grateful to Dr E. Isolation of 2-S-cysteinyldopa and 2,5-S,S-dicysteinyldopa from the urine of patients with melanoma

Isolation, from anti-dinitrophenyl sera taken at the beginning of immunization, of a protein combining with the hapten and which is not related to immunoglobulins]

A protein, not antigenically related to the immunoglobulins, has been isolated by affinity chromatography from the serum of rabbits immunized with dinitrophenylated human gamma-globulin. Its concentration in the serum reaches maximum during the first three days which follow the injection. On "Sephadex G-200", it is eluted after the ribonuclease. Its electrophoretic mobility is slower than that of the IgG.     

Isolation from rat brain of a metabolic product,desmethylimipramine, that mediates the antidepressant activity of imipramine (Tofranil)

Zusammenfassung Nach Verabreichung von Imipramin (Tofranil) wurde aus dem Gehirn von Ratten Desmethylimipramin, das N-Monomethylderivat, isoliert. Dieser Metabolit beziehungsweise dessen Anreicherungin vivo scheint für die antidepressive Wirkung von Imipramin verantwortlich zu sein.

Isolation of a hexaprenylhydroquinone sulfate from the marine sponge Dysidea sp. as an H,K-ATPase inhibitor

A hexaprenylhydroquinone sulfate has been isolated as an H,K-ATPase inhibitor from a marine sponge Dysidea sp. It also inhibited phospholipase A2 as well as secretion of gastric acid in rats.     

Sedimentation behaviour of the avian tumor virus group specific antigen from the BAI strain,a virus associated myeloblast cell

Zusammenfassung BAI Virus Stamm A und mit diesem Virus infizierte Myeloblastzellen haben ein gemeinsames, gruppenspezifisches Antigen. Das aus dem Virus abgetrennte Antigen wurde mit dem aus den Zellen herausgelösten im Saccharose-Dichtegradienten verglichen. Sowohl für das Virus wie für das Zellantigen wurde der gleiche Sedimentationswert erhalten.
