Pǎun''''s systems as models of economic systems

In the paper a concept for modeling the economic systems by the formalism of Paun's systems is proposed. The main idea is to represent economic systems as homomorphic images of Petri nets corresponding to the (super) cells of Paun's systems.

The effect of pmpR on the type III secretion system in Pseudomonas aeruginosa

The type III secretion system(T3SS) plays important roles in Pseudomonas aeruginosa pathogenicity.Previously,we reported that the uncharacterized protein PmpR could regulate pqsR,an important regulator in the quorum-sensing system,by directly binding to its promoter region.As the T3SS is controlled by the quorum-sensing system,here,we investigated the relationship between PmpR and the T3SS.Our data showed that expression of the T3SS genes exoS,exoY,exoT,and exsD was dramatically increased in a pmpR-deletion mutant compared with that in the wild-type P.aeruginosa strain PAO1.Data from DNA mobility assays indicated that PmpR affects the T3SS indirectly.It is unlikely that PmpR controls the T3SS via the Pseudomonas quinolone signal(PQS) because the PQS negatively regulates the T3SS,while pmpR negatively regulates the PQS.The effect of PmpR on the T3SS seems to be independent of the PQS;further investigation is required to uncover the underlying regulatory pathways.     

A membrane evolutionary algorithm for DNA sequence design in DNA computing

DNA sequence design has a crucial role in successful DNA computation,which has been proved to be an NP-hard(non-deterministic polynomial-time hard) problem.In this paper,a membrane evolutionary algorithm is proposed for the DNA sequence design problem.The results of computer experiments are reported,in which the new algorithm is validated and out-performs certain known evolutionary algorithms for the DNA sequence design problem.

Reliability Study on the Risk Precontrol Management System of Coal Mines Safety

Risk precontrol management system of coal mines safety（ RPMSCS） provides a set of preventive safety management strategy for high-risk coal industries, which has captured extensive attentions. Fundamentally,there are several membership systems with subsystems in the management system, and the subsystem reliability has an important influence on the management system performance. Through analyzing the structure characteristics of the management system,the phase type distribution was employed to analyze its subsystem reliability by considering repair process and three states including working,fail-abnormal,and fail-emergency states. The reliability indices of the subsystem were derived respectively,including the probabilities that the subsystem in three states,mean time to the first failure, mean time to first failemergency,mean working time to first fail-emergency,and mean maintenance time to the first fail-emergency, are derived respectively. The probabilities of the membership systems and the management system in three states were also derived. Some numerical examples were used to show the procedures. The result is important for better understanding the management system operation and improving its operational performance from the respect of system reliability.     

Input Split Hydraulic Hybrid Bus and Control Strategy

Simple and efficient energy management strategy is the key to ensure hybrid vehicle performance. Based on hybrid dynamical system theory and the concept of finite state mechanism,power split hybrid connected structure hydraulic hybrid system was proposed and described. In order to meet the demand for driving,the layered advanced control strategy was proposed in this paper,which referred to vehicle driving experience. Using Matlab /Simulink /Stateflow hybrid modeling method, the economy performance and the acceleration performance of the vehicle under the typical city driving cycles were carried on the simulation analysis. The results show that the proposed topology and control strategy can obviously improve engine output characteristic,effectively enhance the vehicle＇s instantaneous power performance and economy,and also has a better adaptability in different traffic environments.     

FastDu: Efficient Directory Summaries Harvest by Tracking File System Changes

FastDu is a file system service that tracks file system changes by intercepting file system calls to maintain directory summaries, which play important roles in both storage administration and improvement of user experiences for some applications. In most circumstances, directory summaries are independently harvested by applications via traversing the file system hierarchy and calling stat () on every file in each directory. For large file systems, this brute-force traverse-based approach can take many hours to complete, even if only a small percentage of the files have changed. This paper describes FastDu, which uses a pre-built database to store harvested directory summaries, and tracks the file system changes by intercepting file system calls, so that new harvesting is restricted to the small subset of directories that contain modified files. Tests using FastDu show that this approach reduces the time needed to get a directory summary by one or two orders of magnitude with almost negligible penalty to application-aware file system performance.     

Application of Genetic Algorithms in Identification of Linear Time-Varying System

By applying genetic algorithms (GA) to on-line identification of linear time-varying systems; a number of modifications are made to the Simple Genetic Algorithm to improve the performance of the algorithm in identification applications. The simulation results indicate that the method is not only capable of following the changing parameters of the system, but also has improved the identification accuracy compared with that using the least square method.     

Community-Based User Domain Model Collaborative Recommendation Algorithm

Collaborative Filtering (CF) is a commonly used technique in recommendation systems. It can promote items of interest to a target user from a large selection of available items. It is divided into two broad classes: memory-based algorithms and model-based algorithms. The latter requires some time to build a model but recommends online items quickly, while the former is time-consuming but does not require pre-building time. Considering the shortcomings of the two types of algorithms, we propose a novel Community-based User domain Collaborative Recommendation Algorithm (CUCRA). The idea comes from the fact that recommendations are usually made by users with similar preferences. The first step is to build a user-user social network based on users’ preference data. The second step is to find communities with similar user preferences using a community detective algorithm. Finally, items are recommended to users by applying collaborative filtering on communities. Because we recommend items to users in communities instead of to an entire social network, the method has perfect online performance. Applying this method to a collaborative tagging system, experimental results show that the recommendation accuracy of CUCRA is relatively good, and the online time-complexity reduces to O.n/.

Reliability of paste fill system of the Jinchuan No.2 mine

Because of poor ground conditions, stoping methods of underhand headings with cemented fill were used in the Jinchuan No. 2 mine, a paste fill system was set up. In order to evaluate the reliability of the new system, investigations and trial running have been done. More than 20 items of modification or improvements related to paste preparation subsystem, pump and pipe subsystem, auto-controlling and monitoring subsystem were finished. The reliability of the paste fill system was analyzed by using the theory of large complex system, and it is useful in reliability study on paste fill system.

A Research Platform of Multi-agent System Robot Soccer Game

A soccer robot system (HIT-1) was built to participate in MIROSOT-China99 held in Harbin Institute of Technology. Robot soccer game is a very complex robot application that incorporates real-time vision system, robot control, wireless communication and control of multiple robots. In the paper, we present the design and the hardware architecture and software architecture of our distributed multiple robot system.     

Identification for a class of distributed parameter systems

This paper discusses the identification for the distributed parameter system of gas reservoirs with het erogeneous carbonate matrices. Based on the relationship between the ad hoc function and the geological feature, we set up a general model with double porous structure, clarify its effect and significance, and present a series of results of sys tem identifications, including the basic content and methods, stabilizing functional and parameter identifiability etc. Us ing the perturbation of spectra of self-adjoint operators, the identifiability of the porosities and the ad hoc coefficient is demonstrated for the general structure model. This project indicates that the identification of a distributed parameter sys tem involves parameters, boundary position and structure.
