The histamine content of guinea pig mast cells

Zusammenfassung Von der Voraussetzung ausgehend, dass alles Histamin in den Mastzellen lokalisiert ist, wurde berechnet, dass jede Mastzelle in Aorta, Trachea, Uterus und Jejunum des Meerschweinchens 25–34 µµg Histamin-Base enthält. Die anaphylaktische Freisetzung des Histamins war proportional der Verminderung des Mastzellengehaltes und wurde zu 12–17 µµg/Mastzelle berechnet. Jejunum gab keine anaphylaktische Reaktion.     

Microdetermination of magnesium and calcium in animal tissue

Zusammenfassung Eine Methode zur Bestimmung von 10–40 µg Mg und 5–15 µg Ca in etwa 150 mg Tiergeweben wird beschrieben. Nach Trennung auf Dowex 50-X8 wird Mg mit Komplexon III und Ca mit Na-naphthalohydroxamat bestimmt.

Résumé L'injection endocarotidienne centrifuge d'acétylcholine provoque chez le lapin, déjà sensible à la dose de 0,1–0,5µg, une réponse motrice consistant en un spasme de torsion du côté injecté et, aux doses élevées, en une réaction de fuite.Le tracé électroencéphalographique correspondant montre une réaction analogue à la «réaction d'arrêt» provoquée par des stimuli extérieurs.A coté de l'acétylcholine, d'autres substances exercent des effects semblables: hydrate de tétraméthylammonium (1–2µg); décaméthonium (2–5µg); succinylcholine (3–7µg); d-tubocurarine (5–10µg). L'hydrate de tétraéthylammonium, l'hexamethonium, et le Flaxédil sont par contre sans effet jusque à la dose de 200µg.     

Observations on the metabolism of endogenous 5-hydroxytryptamine (enteramine) in the rat

Zusammenfassung Der Rattenurin enthält 1,34µg 5-Hydroxyindolyl-essigsäure je Kubikzentimeter (=81,4µg/kg/24 h). Daraus ist zu berechnen, dass in der Ratte täglich 216–236µg/kg 5-Hydroxytryptamin metabolisiert werden. Dies bedeutet, dass das Blutplättchen-5-HT alle 3–4 h und das Gesamt-5-HT des Organismus alle 12–14 h erneuert werden wird.Die erhaltenen quantitativen Daten sind hauptsächlich im Hinblick auf die fragliche Bildungsstelle des 5-HT und die biologische Bedeutung der Substanz selber wichtig.

Summary For the sensitive determination of amines their 1-dimethyl-amino-naphthalene-5-sulphonyl derivatives were separated in two-dimensional thin-layer chromatograms. 10^–10–10^–11 mole per amine can be detected, when the fluorescence of the DANSyl-compounds is excited by the 365 mµ Hg line.     

Interarterielle koronare Anastomosen

Summary Wax spheres with a diameter of 35–45 µ and 75–90 µ were injected into one coronary artery of 73 human hearts. The finding of spheres in the opposite coronary artery was considered as evidence for the presence of interarterial coronary anastomoses. In hearts with occlusive coronary sclerosis or ventricular hypertrophy anastomoses were found in approximately 70% of the cases. Of the 15 normal hearts only 1 (7%) was found to have anastomoses.     

Stimulierung der Atmung durch Bradykinin und Kallidin

Summary In guinea pigs and rabbits small doses of bradykinin and kallidin (1–8 µg/kg i.v.), which have no bronchoconstrictor effect, stimulate respiration causing tachy- and hyperpnea. Bilateral vagotomy as well as salicylates (4–40 mg/kg i.v.) abolish these respiratory responses.     

Effets de l'actinomycine D sur le développement normal et sur les modifications expérimentales de la morphogénèse de l'oeuf de l'oursinParacentrotus lividus

Summary In the presence of actinomycin D (20–40 µg/ml), the development of the eggs of the sea urchin,Paracentrotus lividus, is slowed from the late morula and stopped at the blastula stage. The development is immediately stopped in the blastula treated with actinomycin D (20–40 µg/ml). The inhibitory effects of actinomycin D are prevented by deoxyribonucleic acid. Actinomycin D does not exert animalizing or vegetalizing effects. However, the enhancing of vegetalizing action of lithium and the weakening of animalizing effects of zinc ions and Evans blue have been observed in the presence of actinomycin D. These observations may reflect some difference in the state of dependence of differentiation of entomesodermic and ectodermic structures towards the nucleus.

Zusammenfassung Mit einer nachBroyer undStout gereinigten Nährlösung konnte nicht bewiesen werden, dass Cl^– ein fürLemna minor unentbehrliches Ion sei. Es wurde deshalb eine neue Reinigungsmethode ausgearbeitet, die eine Verminderung des Cl^–-Gehaltes der Nährlösung auf weniger als 10 µg/l erlaubt. In einer derart behandelten Nährlösung zeigtLemna minor folgende Mangelsymptome: Verschwinden der Wurzel, Chlorose und sehr starke Verkleinerung der Blätter. Beigabe von Cl^– zur Nährlösung genügt, um die Mangelsymptome zu verhüten oder sie zu kompensieren. Unter den angegebenen Bedingungen benötigtLemna minor ungefähr 100 µg Cl^–/l.     

Release of noradrenaline from adrenergic transmitter granules by tyramine

Zusammenfassung Tyramin (3–50 µg/ml) setzt aus mikrogranularem Sediment von Kuhmilznerven Noradrenalin frei (Inkubation 30 min bei +20°C). Mit Dopamin und Octopamin wurde in denselben Konzentrationen keine sichere Wirkung beobachtet.
