An Analysis of Michael Long＇ s Interaction Hypothesis in Second Language Acquisition

The Interaction Hypothesis, which was first advanced by Michael Long, is considered as a further supplement or extension of the Input Hypothesis in the field of second language acquisition. This paper explains the main claims of Michael Long＇s Interaction Hypothesis, the three steps to study how input and interaction affect the acquisition of a second language, and the importance of the interactional modifications applied by both participants of the interaction. Emphasis is placed on the evaluation of the theory as well as its relation to second language teaching, with many researchers＇ findings and arguments discussed as supporting evidence. It aims to help the effective application of this theory in second language teaching.

An Analysis and Prevention of Stop Marks in Weaving

The cause of stop marks of fabrics in weaving is introduced, and the floating displacement of the cloth fell during loom stoppage is a primary cause of stop marks. The stop marks caused by fabric system are analyzed. A new method to eliminate stop marks by using the electronic let-off system is presented. This new method needn't any special detecting equipment, it can control the fell position by the powerful control program, so the cost is decreased greatly. The method is so flexible that can be applied to weaving all kinds of fabrics.

An Analysis of Labor Resources “One River and Two Tributaries” Region in Tibet, China

Focusing on the region of Yarlung Zangbo River and the middle reaches of its two tributaries of Nianchu River and Lhasa River in Tibet (Hereafter referred to as the ““““One River and Two Tributaries““““ region), and based on the data from China 3rd, 4th and 5th population censuses, the article has analyzed change patterns of this region‘s labor force. Major findings from the study are summarized as follows:① Compared with the data from the 3rd census, labor force population in 2000 has increased significantly. ② Children dependency coefficient has dropped, while old people dependency coefficient has changed very slight-ly with an increase of 0. 047% only. ③ Compared 2000 with 1982, illit eracy and semiilliteracy rate of the population above 15 years old have decreased significantly by 30.69 percentage points, but still higher than thena tional average. ④ Women‘s illiteracy rate has dropped faster than men‘s, but up to 2000 it was generally quite high. The upgrading of the entire population‘s overall quality has a long way to go.

Analysis of regulatory architectures in BST

Based on the data envelopment analysis (DEA) theory, the optimal pathway of metabolic reaction networks in biochemical systems is studied. After calculating the mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model given by Bailey et al. twice, the decision making units (DMU) and the prediction model of DEA are constructed, where the inputs are levels of manipulated parameters (enzyme) and outputs are concentrations of metabolites. When the metabolic networks are reconstructed, the data are obtained by calculating MILP framework twice and the optimal levels of the manipulated parameter at different regular loops are predicted, thus simplifying the calculations of Bailey's.
