Metabolism of a pharmacologically active pyrrolidine derivative (prolintane) by lactam formation

Zusammenfassung Prolintan, N-1-(-Benzylbutyl)-Pyrrolidin, wurde in Kaninchen durch ein Mikrosomensystem der Leber in das entsprechende Laktam, N-1-(-Benzylbutyl)-Pyrrolidin-2-on, umgebaut. Das gleiche Stoffwechselprodukt fand sich auch im Gewebe von Ratten, denen das Medikament gegeben wurde; allenfalls Spuren davon wurden im Urin der Ratten ausgeschieden.

7α-hydroxylation of dehydroepiandrosterone in human testis and epididymis in vitro

Zusammenfassung Zerhackte menschliche Hoden und Epididymis wurden mit Dehydroepiandrosteron ohne Kofaktoren bebrütet und es wurden unter anderem 7-und 7-Hydroxydehydroepiandrosteron und 5-Androsten-3, 7, 17-triol charakterisiert. Die Ausbeute an 7-hydroxylierten Metaboliten war fast gleich in Hoden und Epididymis.

The identification of εN-(β-aspartyl)-l-lysine in native and heated keratin

Zusammenfassung Chromatographisch (Ionenaustausch, Papierchromatographie, Dünnschichtchromatographie und Hochspannungselektrophorese) wird nach enzymatischer Hydrolyse von nativem und denaturiertem Wolle-Keratin (-Glutamyl)-lysin und (-Aspartyl)-lysin identifiziert und so die in Proteinen postulierte anomale Peptidverknüpfung nachgewiesen.

Summary -Methyl-noradrenalin synthesized after pretreatment of the guinea-pig with -methyl-dopa was found to be localized, like noradrenalin, mainly in the granular fraction 100 000g of the heart and in the fraction of the chromaffin granules of the suprarenal medulla (15000 g). -Methyl-adrenalin could not bo found.

Ein neues Verfahren zur Herstellung von 19-Norsteroiden

Summary The new methods for the production of 19-norsteroids described involve the conversion of 5-halogen-6-hydroxy-steroids into the corresponding 5-halogen-6:19-ethers either with lead tetraacetate or by the hypoiodite reaction^8,10. The 6:19-oxygen bridge is then opened reductively either directly or after oxidation of the 6:19-ethers to lactones or preferably after introduction of a ^4,6-3-oxo grouping. Acylolytic cleavage of the ⁴-3-oxo-6:19-ethers followed by alkaline hydrolysis gives ^4,6-3-oxo-19-hydroxy-steroids. The 19-hydroxycompounds formed are easily converted into 19-norsteroids by known methods.

The synthesis involves the following steps: 5-solanidane-3-one, 2,4-dibromo-5-solanidane-3-one, solanid-4-ene-3-one, 3-acetoxy-solanida-3,5-diene, and solanidine (II).

Summary A previous experiment withEranthis showed thatRoentgen irradiation of undivided embryos led to a change in the number of cotyledons. In the present publication, the induction of anomalies of the cotyledon was shown after irradiation of early embryo stages on the mother plant in Arabidopsis thaliana, an example of a plant with complete embryos.Which aberration type (synkotyl, anisokotyl, trikotyl, tetrakotyl or multiple seedlings) will arise, seems to be determined neither by theRoentgen dose nor by the stage of development on irradiation. The appearance of predominately regular trikotyl types after application of 2000r, and their gradual disappearance with increasing doses in favour of the irregular trikotyl types, suggests that in the lower doses the main influences are upon the purely chemical reactions in the embryos, which are overlaid by cell damages occurring in a directly biophysical way with increase of the physical primary acts and lead to irregular growth.

The “day of Brahman” in the work of Āryabhata

Summary In the astronomical treatise ryabhatya of ryabhata several verses are interpolated, namely all those verses in which either Brahman was mentioned or extremely large periods were introduced. The interpolator was known to AlBrn as ryabhata of Kusumapura, who belongs to the school of the elder ryabhata. The aim of the interpolator was to bring the teaching of the elder ryabhata into accordance with the revelation of Svayambh. Svayambh is another name for Brahm.

Hypoglycemic activity of α-bromoplamitate in rats

Zusammenfassung Bei Hunger-Ratten, denen vorwiegend Fettsäure als Energiespender gegeben wurde, wird eine erhöhte Toleranz gegen per os eingegebene Glukose während der Behandlung mit der die Fettsäureoxydation hemmenden -Brompalminsäure gefunden. Bei Dosierungen von 25–500 mg/kg. i.p. verursachte -Brompalminsäure eine signifikante Erhöhung der Glukose-Toleranz.

Summary During the development of anthers inTulipa cv. Apeldoorn the following chalcones were isolated: 2, 3, 4, 4, 6-pentahydroxychalcone as the main component and 2, 4, 4, 6-tetrahydroxy-3-methoxychalcone as well as 2, 4, 4, 6-tetrahydroxychalcone in a very small amount.

Oriented overgrowth (epitaxy) of a polyamide model biopolymer on non-identical polyamides

Zusammenfassung Die orientierte Verwachsung zwischen zwei nicht identischen Polyamiden wird als neuartiger Typ der Epitaxie am Beispiel der Aufwachsung des biopolymeren Polyamids Poly-l-Glutaminsäure--benzylester auf Poly--caprolactam beschrieben. Der Verwachsungstyp bietet einen neuen Weg zur Untersuchung der Voraussetzungen für die Assoziation nicht identischer hochmolekularer Polyamide.
